Used to bring my dogs to Serenity because it was the easy thing to do. After several times feeling gouged for cash, I found the same exact services for much, much cheaper elsewhere. The staff is uppity and rude, but the landscaping and office is nice. I'd rather pay a lot less for less landscaping, nice staff, and the same exact shots and exams. Numerous messages left in attempt to contact management went ignored. After spending literally thousands here, they won't get another dime from me. BTW.. did I say the staff is rude? Especially if you know anything about assessments, illness, disease, prevention, and treatment- they get even more rude- it's as if they know they are preying on those with more money than medical knowhow. Just go to a different vet, pay a lot less, and be respected instead of gouged. Read Less

They were friendly and I was always seen within a decent time, but they didn't seem to take a lot of interest in my cat. When I first went there with my Pebbles, they told me he had herpes (upper respiratory infection in cats) and it would come and go. They gave him some medicine but overtime nothing improved. I took matters into my own hands and went to a different vet for another opinion on his health. I told the other vet what was wrong with him and they took X-rays and blood work right away. (Serenity never did this) Turns out Pebbles doesn't have herpes, but he has heartworm. I had a horrible experience with Serenity Animal Hospital. I never return there...and I plan to tell everyone I know in the dog world about my experience. I am trying to adopt a dog and found a few interesting possibilities on-line and held at Serenity.I am under the impression that they are trying to find loving homes for the pets they have up for adoption. Their process of screening potential dog owners is onerous and quite detailed. I was reluctant to fill out their 6 page application...but I did it. Finally I was approved to meet the dogs. It was easier to get a mortgage I was quite specific about which ones I was interested in.The staff was very discourteous of my time and rude from the start. Both on the phone and in person they acted like they were doing me a favor from the get go. It turns out the dogs I was interested in were unavailable for viewing. They were overly officious and seemed to be on some kind of a power trip. I drove many miles to get there and they were reluctant to introduce me to any of their dogs. When I expressed my displeasure about their conduct the office manager acted like it was my fault that there was a communication breakdown? Finally they showed me one dog...who obviously has serious behavior problems. When i questioned their description on-line...they acted as if I was the reason the dog was shaking and hiding under the chair. In reality... I felt their description was inaccurate and dishonest. Were they specifically lying...i don't know but the description was not forthcoming.Based on my experience. I find it hard to believe that Serenity takes care of dogs with good care and compassion. The way they treat people is unacceptable. Serenity seems way more interested in their rules and forms than they are about finding homes for the animals.Apparently I'm not the only one who has had experiences like this at Serenity. Look at all the reviews...not all of them are positive. Something smells like dog doo at Serentiy Read Less

My family's been going to this practice over 15 years now and I wouldn't dream of taking them to anyplace else. I moved from Sterling Heights to downtown Detroit and me and the kittens will make the 25 mile trek to Serenity without even thinking about it. The whole staff is wonderful. They completely discuss all of your options with you. I'm on a budget so they let me know up front an accurate estimate of what I'll be paying. The facility is immaculate. They do adoptions. The owner of the practice does lots of volunteering in the community. I love this place. I recently adopted a kitten rom another practice and had to take her there to get spayed. When I went to this other place they had multiple hidden costs, the place had a very noticeable animal smell, and just didn't seem professional. The only reason I took my kitty there was because the cost of her surgery was included in the adoption fee. I was so upset after I dropped my kitten off that I called Serenity. I asked them a bunch of questions about what I paid for at this other place. I got in touch with a tech right away. They made me feel a lot better and said if I was having any post surgical issues that Serenity could squeeze her in whenever. After my experience today at the non-Serenity I am even more thankful that I have Serenity. I usually see Dr. Julie Sherman; but I've also seen Dr Arkand and Dr. Karen (owner). This place is on the above average price range but it's definitely worth it. I trust this place. Thanks Serenity! Read Less

My first visit was an emergency. Cody, my bichon/shih tzu mix ate a bunch of bird bones and one of the bones lodged in his esophagus. I was terrified that I would not be able to afford to help him. All of the other emergency vets I called that Saturday quoted me AT LEAST $1,800 just to send a scope down to determine whether or not the bone could be dislodged. Serenity was like a dream come true! They quoted us a few hundred dollars and said they would like to examine him and take an x-ray before going the scope route at all. The vet made what seemed like a crazy alternative suggestion but I was on board. The car ride there had shaken the bone loose a little so she literally just fed him a high fiber wet food. It did the trick! It pushed the bone down into his stomach safely on her first attempt. I paid $80 for that visit and that was basically just for the x-rays and food. No scope! And on a Saturday! To say that I was relieved is an understatement. Their "bed-side" manner is outstanding. We've seen two of their vets so far for regular visits since then. I cannot say enough good things about this animal hospital. They don't try to up-sell you on anything. They level with you and treat you with compassion. They are patient and answered all of my questions (I ask a lot of questions). I will never take our dogs anywhere else. Read Less

I stopped in one evening to inquire about their doggie day care. I was the only customer in the lobby, but the woman at the front desk didn't really seem that interested in talking to me, mostly looking at her computer while I asked questions. I was told that If I wanted to view the "day care" area , I could only do so during one specific hour per week, and that hour was during a weekday/workday.The target demographic for doggie day care is people who work during the day, so why would you require potential customers to miss work during one specific hour of the week just to *view* the area where dogs would be kept? No way would I leave my dog in their care without knowing what kind of environment she would be in and I shouldn't have to miss work to do so. I did receive a list of prices for different services, and they charged an extra fee for just about everything, on top of the daily fee. Walks? Extra fee. Petting your dog? Extra fee. Why would I pay for them to care for my dog all day if she would just be kept in a cage or never walked unless I pay extra? Ridiculous.A friend took her pet here and was told that cats can't get rabies! For a vet to have such a gross misunderstanding of a well-known deadly disease is mind-boggling and dangerous. I wonder how many customers' cats are unprotected from rabies because they were told this flat-out lie. I would never trust a vet with my pets' health if they can't even understand that cats definitely *can* get rabies. Read Less

Honestly, I'm not sure why Serenity has such low reviews. My experience has been wonderful. After moving to the area I had a long and exhausting new vet search. We tried several places, but settled on Serenity. My two dogs, Maggie a retired racing Greyhound and Acre, an Italian greyhound both see Dr. Michalski, who is also the owner/founder. The staff is friendly and always helpful. Serenity uses the most current surgery and anesthesia practices including non-rutine surgery, which a lot of vets do not do. They also can preform Laparoscopic Surgical Procedures, which are minimally invasive & result in less pain & quicker recovery. The vets and techs are all required to attend annual training to make sure they are up to date on all things related to your pet. Which was a huge MUST for me. They also have expertise on dentistry and an in house lab, so you don't have to wait for weeks to get results. Another plus for me was that they have long hours 8am to 8pm on weekdays and 8am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. That could be nice for an emergency situation. The office and rooms are always clean. My Maggie gets tired of standing so Dr. Michalski always visits us in a room with an area rug so Maggie can lay down if she wants to. Oh! I also LOVE that they are heavily involved with animal rescue!I recommend Serenity with no hesitations! Read Less

My boyfriend and I love Serenity Animal Hospital and all the employees working there. We've been taking our dogs there for a couple to a few years now starting with our puggle Junior, and then our pug Frankie. After Frankie passed away, we adopted an English Bulldog named Gus. From the very beginning and even til now, we receive excellent care and service for our dogs. Anytime we have an emergency, we call Serenity as soon as possible, and the receptionists are always able to fit us in to be seen right away. If we have any questions and call them, they are always able to provide us answers and solutions to our problems. They really do go above and beyond and we feel like they're pretty much family (they all know us and our dogs). With Junior, our first dog, we originally had another vet and switched to Serenity Animal Hospital. My boyfriend and I still remember our first appointment with Dr. Meyer to see Junior. Junior was scared and doesn't like to be put up on the table top in the examination room and my boyfriend and I were surprised to see Dr. Meyer sit on the floor in front of us next to Junior to give him his shot and check his heart rate, etc. Most doctors would tell you to put your dog up there, but she put Junior's wants above her own. Since that day we were very impressed and now, we've taken all our dogs to Serenity Animal Hospital. I highly recommend Serenity to anyone with a furbaby. I have been taking my cat, Frankie, to Serenity for nearly five years, and while I contemplated finding a new vet a few years ago when I moved 20 minutes away, I decided the care I get at Serenity is worth the drive and higher prices. Yes, I could find a cheaper vet closer to where I live but the staff at Serenity are exceptional. They go above and beyond an average animal hospital. The offices are very clean and there's never a long wait to be seen. The complimentary coffee and popcorn while you wait are nice touches. The receptionists and vets are very professional, knowledgable and the best I've encountered. The offices are open early and close late and have weekends hours as well. This year, my cat had a serious medical issue that required a three-night stay. Dr. Julie Sherman was amazing and explained the entire process to me, answering all my questions as I was close to tears in the office. She let me come visit Frankie in the "ER" every day and called after surgery and every day he was there to tell me his status. A few years ago, I took in a tiny stray kitten I had to board at the "resort" for a few nights. Again, the staff was extremely accommodating and looked after my little scared kitten as well as I would have. They even let her come out and play with the staff at times so she wasn't cooped up in her cage for the entire stay. Serenity also offers an online system to help you keep track of your pet's appointments and shots. Read Less

I had taken my dog here to get his teeth cleaned today. When I picked him up the tech person said at the end after I paid that one of the people who worked here was triming some hair and around his feet and ear and that they were trying to be helpful and they cut his ear .And his leg were they put the i.v looked nasty. I am a concerned dog owner who takes good care of my dog and when I see this it makes me very angry. I have been coming here for a while because it's close by and his vet is a wonderful vet unfortunately this bad experience left a bad taste in my mouth .my dog is kind of feeling out of it .I will give it a day or 2 to see .I put my trust in the people here to be gentle with my dog .that's all.i got to say .just didn't want to not put this out there.today my dog seems to be doing better.

I feel like if Serenity took the time to take his blood and x rays then they would have been able to diagnose him correctly. Read Less

I chose this place of convenience of location and I am new to being a mother of a fur baby. The staff here is super friendly. My dog is a rescue and he's over protective and a devil child. They know how to handle my dog though. They're not aggressive with him. They helped me transform my obese dog (from previous owners) to the weight he's supposed to be. They were very helpful for when he has fleas also, me being a worrier. There's reviews saying they're a bit over priced which I have nothing to compare too but the super friendly staff and experiences is worth it. I lost my first dog last January 2016. I was devastated and needed emergency vet care. Because it was on a Sunday I called Serenity and they called me back within minutes where to take my dog. Upon arrival there, the vet, Dr Michelle, had already made the call and they knew we were coming. Unfortunately our pet died, but the card they sent us signed by their whole staff made us feel comforted as if we had gone to Serenity that day. We now have a new puppy and to date have made 6 appointments most recent a neutering, Not once did I have to wait.

Read Less
