This review is many years to late. My cat was covered in sores. Worried she was going to die. Took her here and it turns out she was allergic to everything, mostly fleas. So one single flea would make an entire area of her body turn into sores. For about 100$ she was seen, given medicine, and a FLEA VAX which saved her life. To think all this cat needed was a vaccine. To think 2 other vets suggested I just put her down as she was in so much pain. To think this VET fixed everything with one shot every 4 months or so. Your vet, older white guy, is freaking awesome. First and foremost I do feel like this vet does care about your pet just as much and you care for them. They were very friendly and the prices were great. I brought both of my dogs there one was just for a dental and the other was a dental, removal of a wart, removal of a cyst on the tail, and removal of a cyst in the mouth. The reason why they are only getting three stars is because of the pick up. I came during the time they told me to, even called to see if they were ready to be picked up. Sat in the waiting room for almost 2 hours. When I got my dogs back, the staff did not tell me about any special care for Dakota. There was no home care instructions to take home. I had to ask a couple of times if Dakota had to have a wet food diet and how long. They did not inform me that she got stitches from the wart and cyst in the tail. I feel like the lack of communication and the lack of take home instruction made me feel like I should not go back. Read Less

I too have been taking all my animals to Dr Havas for more than 20 years. His love for aimals is beyond comprehension. My dogs and cats are never shaking when we are there and they love him too. I will agree that it is a very busy and you wait but he cares so much ablout my animals that it makes it worth it and he is very affordable. I had taken my dogs for shots somewhere else and it was 350.00 for the 2 dogs and Dr Havas' prices were half of that. I LOVE HIM AND EVERYONE THERE Read Less

We've been coming to Dr. Havas per our neighbor's recommendation for 13 yrs now, when we got our first dog. We now have 3 dogs that are seen by him. There are no bells and whistles to this clinic, and we accepted that because the price was right, especially with now with 3 dogs. But most recent visit for all three and needing a prescription for heartworm, Dr. Havas refuses to cooperate and forces the customer to buy from clinic. Now mind you, I spent $600 at this visit and still got the runaround. I spoke with him personally and he agreed to match my online price, but when I came into the office, the cashier refuses to comply with the agreement. She went back and asked the Dr. and only agreed to it as I explained that it's against the law to not allow me a prescription to shop around for my choice of pet meds. And mind you, there were lots of people in the waiting room who heard me. I believe that's the only reason they cooperated. I do plan on filing a complaint with the State as well. I think this will be our last visit to this clinic. It's very dirty and staff is very rude, and quite frankly there are other vets in the area who will treat you better in a much better environment. Take the time to shop around, we did and found a Vet just a mile south of there. I walked in and personally met the Vet who took the time to talk to me and answer all my questions. They even gave me all their prices which were within a couple dollars of LLAH. I'd rather pay a little more and be treated like I matter. We'll be going down the street at Wattles and John R to Troy & Heights Animal Hospital with very comparable prices and a Veterinarian who will take their time with our pets and not hurd us in like cattle and make us wait for hours. This vet must make a profit on volume. This is a busy place from the moment the door opens until it closes. This would be a great location for a reality shoot, like Dr. Pol.With that being said, I have had 5 pets go through their lifespan at this clinic and have been nothing but satisfied with the results and the prices. Under the conditions this business presents, the staff is great. Not many can work this hard and be continually dedicated.You will wait. We started with them because our 16 1/2 German Shorthaired Pointer was bleeding out of every hole in his body. He needed to be relieved of the pain. That was my best friend for all 16 1/2 years (I'm an only child), and they made the whole situation easier. From then on, I decided to switch Vets. We took our pregnant cat in for an exam because she's so tiny (she was the runt, and momma tried to eat her, which is how she became ours). They thanked my fiance for bringing her in and said she's clearly pregnant, and that there were no concerns regarding her size as this happens often. If anything were to go wrong during delivery, call back immediately. We were not charged for the visit and were thanked for being such "responsible pet owners" and showing so much concern. (I've had 3 c-sections and miscarried twins, I get that pregnancy is rough). She had 3 healthy kittens that she delivered on her own while we weren't home. Those babies are now in their new homes. I can't thank the staff enough for easing our concerns. The cat gave birth 9/24/16 and I delivered our final daughter 10/06/16. They provided the guidance to get not only our precious baby, but her babies, through an emotional situation. Read Less

Took are cat Bear to get groomed, they were wonderful with him. They asked if he gets to be to agitated can we put him under. He looked great, and best of all he was happy! Great prices and as wonderful staff, yes you may have to wait but with decent prices I don't mind. Read Less

Dr. Havas is a God send. My 7 year-old kitty became very ill (he wouldn't eat or drink and was vomiting constantly) so I took him to a vet close to my home in Royal Oak. The vet ran some blood tests and determined from his BUN, creatinine, and phosphorus levels that he had severe kidney failure. He couldn't do anything for my baby, charged me an arm and a leg for the blood test/office visit, and sent me packing. He told me to go to the emergency vet, but that wasn't a viable option for me financially. Instead, I called Long Lake Animal Hospital. They told me to come right in, admitted Benny for 4 days and gave him fluids, a kidney care diet, antibiotics, blood tests, supplements, and probiotics. They took such good care of him and were able to give him the critical care he needed. Benny is home now thanks to Dr. Havas and his staff, and his numbers are moving in the right direction. They sent me home with subcutaneous fluids that they showed me how to administer, prescription food, and two types of medications. All of this cost the same amount I paid at the vet in Royal Oak for an office visit and blood test. I couldn't believe it and I am so grateful to them. I truly don't think Benny would be here today if it weren't for them and I have a lot of hope that his kidney function will improve. Hours of operation are: Monday-Wednesday & Friday appointment times are 9am-12pm & 4pm-6pm. Saturday open 9am-12pm. Thursday's & Sunday's they're closed. Finally wrote them down & thought to share!I've been going to this veterinarian clinic for a while and here are my thoughts. The prices are great for the medication, etc. Dr. H comes off a bit brash at first but he's a nice guy. The communication in the office to the customer is not up to par. I took my dog in for a once over and shot; I was in the room for 1.5 hours awaiting the doctor. I was completely irritated but had someone told me he was in surgery, I would have re-scheduled. The nurses are nice, caring and seem competent. FYI, the facility is old and simplistic. That's probably why they can charge less money (less overhead). I wish the doc would expand the office for the poor ladies jammed in the receptionist area. Read Less

Can't leave 0 stars. I had an appointment and showed up 10 minutes early. 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment, I asked if I missed my name, I didn't. They forgot about me and sent in 3 people who arrived well after me. Another 30 minutes and an "oops, sorry" I finally had a room to wait for the doctor. Almost another 30 minutes later I left because I have a life and things to do. Never saw the vet. Long story short, I sat in a shitty "animal hospital" for over an hour and a half and never saw the vet. And the staff tells you nothing about how long the wait may be. Read Less

This is my first yelp review ever and I'm so compelled to do so on such poor service and disrespect by this veterinarian. I have been a customer of this vet for 8 years with 4 animals, giving my business. I have always understood there is a wait etc but as a mom of a one year old and shifts in life that don't really allow you to sit there for such a tremendous length of time I questioned it for courtesy of my time. I planned an appointment for vaccines for today and showed up 5 minutes early to my 10:30 am appt. I kept watching a young gal go to the counter asking how much longer. She had already been waiting 45 minutes and was advised she would need to wait another 20-30 minutes to be put into a room. I then looked at where I was on the list to her and she was 5 ahead of me and our appointment times were only 15 min apart. I asked the tech and she said I wouldnt be seen until 11:30 at least because of a computer down and she apologized. I went to get my things and said this will not work for me today and I need to find another time. I didn't say one thing rude and only said this is not courteous of my time and is always the way it is. I could very well be there 1-1/2 or 2 hours before all said is done since already 30 min had passed and I was so far from the top. She went to go get the vet and she told me to come to room 2. I said I am not asking to jump and this girl needs to go first among the rest of the list. She corrected me and said he would like to see you. dr havas was already angry looking and pulled me in the room, asked the customer to leave the room and closed the door to speak with me. Remind you, I was not the only person questioning in the lobby. Well he proceeded to tell me he has had customers for 45 years, their kids and their grand kids and he didn't appreciate my complaint in the lobby. Well where else would I ask? Secondly, he said that if I can't wait like this then he is probably not the vet for me. Well I found it rude he never considered how long I have supported his business, 8 years and me as a customer was not found valuable. Thirdly, he has no concern or regard for my time and blame it on computers etc, but not one time in all these years has there there ever been efficient through put without an extensive wait time and everyone is suppose to sit there at their mercy and socialize in the lobby. His disrespect to me as a client made me feel as if my time and business for him didn't matter to him and that I should figure out how to manage his extensive and ridiculous wait times among my professional, personal, pet, child, husband etc plans and balances in life yet I'm expected to book an appointment, be on time, tolerant of his queue and wait times and not disrespect his important schedule during the day his office, because at the end of the argument his view was the only one that mattered.  You can't expect people and moms of one year olds, older folks, or the other young gal waiting for 45 minutes and told another 20-30 min to sit for well over an hour before being seen. This isn't fair and it's very inconsiderate to not even value what I feel as a client also. So for this I find it very unfortunate that's how he chooses to treat people and lost me as a client after 8 years because sorry I haven't even been alive for 45 to be worthy enough as the older ones. Much to my beloved dog's disappointment, my family and I have been taking her to see Dr. Haves and his staff for five (going on six) years.Long Lake Animal Hospital is an old-school veterinary clinic that focuses on giving their patients (of all shapes and sizes) excellent care. My dog is terrified of the vet and reacts poorly to check ups by freaking out and shaking uncontrollably. Regardless, the staff always takes good care of her. The prices are fair. Do not expect a luxurious interior - It's no frills but the quality of care cannot be beaten. My dog has suffered from chronic ear infections, a scratch to her eye and other ailments and has always received the care she needs to rule our home in perfect health.
