Like many people, my animal is my child. I feel that all the staff at Ark understood this without me having to express that. Before the techs. Or vet did anything to my cat, they let me know exactly what to expect before doing it. Not only were they friendly but educated me how how to give my cat the best care she can have. I'm so thankful to have a place to take her where the staff are passionate and respectful.

I am a licensed vet tech, and I 100% trust these doctors and technicians. They are incredibly skilled and knowledgeable. I take all of my exotic pets here (my green cheek conure birds and my bunny), and all of their technology and techniques are up to date. They are very knowledgeable on husbandry as well, and they are very good at teaching their clients about the needs of their pets. Prices are reasonable as well. It is also a very positive atmosphere; the receptionists are very friendly.

Dr. Dixon has been a so wonderful this year with our Blue & Gold Macaw "Boo" who we rescued more than 12 years ago. Thankfully, until recently we had very little interaction with avian vet medicine except for general issues/questions over the years. This year, Boo has had a nasty infection and has required multiple visits to Dr. Dixon -everyone has went above and beyond in keeping her going. Because of Dr. Dixon, Dr. Lee and the compassionate support staff, we have moved all of our pet medical needs to Ark Veterinary Hospital. I personally would recommend them to anyone. -Simply not enough stars here to applaud them for the services they provide to our family members! If you have a exotic pet, dog/cat or need avian services in metro Detroit THIS is the home for ALL of you animal needs.

Gentle, knowledgeable, and caring doctors and techs in an impeccably clean small practice. Reasonable pricing on most services. Surgery can be pricey, but probably no higher than most places.
Ark has had my business for 24 years, and is the best vet practice I've used.

Came here after googling veterinary clinics in the area, & I called around looking for a vet who could look at our rabbit, which is considered an exotic animal. Not many vets will tend to rabbits, they mostly see cats and dogs.Glad I found this great place. I can't say enough about the service and cate they give. I highly recommend them! Dr Kispert was very professional and compassionate.

I love Ark Veterinary Clinic and so does my baby boy. He is 10 and they have been taking good care of him since he was a pup. They always care a lot about him and they spend time explaining his treatment, medicines ect. He ate a bar of soap years ago and they nursed him back to health. He is very important to me and so I apriciate how much they care and do there work with heart. I wish they could see people, too! =) You wont be disappointed at Ark... First off, do not trust the reviews for Ark Veterinary that you see on their Facebook page. They delete and block any review that is unfavorable to their business.Now, I can only speak for myself but seriously, do not take your animal to Ark's Veterinary in Shelby Township. Or do so at your pet's risk. After sinking nearly $400 in tests for my very ill cat, the doctor sent me home with a can of food. That was it. The next day she calls and says she wants to run ANOTHER $350 worth of tests, and I decide to pay $50 for the few meds that she recommends instead.Despite the fact that my cat's oxygen was extremely low (the doctor's assistant nurse just discredited the reading on the monitor because "that can't be right"); despite the fact that his liver looked bad according to the tests; despite the fact that his nose was discolored (to which I specifically pointed it out to the doctor, but to no interested response); despite the fact that I had the vet whom I had previously gone to, i.e. the PET DOCTOR, fax all of my cat's previous medical history; despite everything, the incompetent doctor at Ark Veterinary misdiagnosed and mistreated my cat. Less than 24 hours afterwards from receiving the meds and a couple of syringes to force food and aluminum hydroxide down his throat, my cat's nose was turning purple.I decided instead to take him back to the PET DOCTOR. There, they immediately gasped at my cat's condition and put him on oxygen. The color of his nose began to return. He would have died within hours from suffocation because of the negligence and ineptitude of Ark. Then they gave him a couple of shots and showed me the correct way to feed him (placing food on my finger and rubbing it on the upper mouth and not forcing it in with a syringe). For the first time in nearly a week my cat's tail was wagging, and, as you can imagine, the vet at the Pet Doctor was flabbergasted at the incompetence of the work done by Ark Veterinary. He wanted their info. He gave me medicine for my cat's liver and told me to discard the crap I had just paid over $50 the day prior for. Mind you, he did all of this just by looking at paper work, and to top it off, charged me only $100.The doctor at Ark should be held accountable. She nearly killed my cat and nearly charged me over $700 to do so, over half of which I paid and will probably not get back. Although I should. I hope your experience will not be as equally appalling and - had I just waited a few more hours - fatal to your pet.

Once you take your pet to Ark you won't go anywhere else. These people go ABOVE & BEYOND for their patients. Here's my story:Adopted the sweetest Doberman, who we named Red, from a dobe rescue out in Clinton, MI. We were told from the rescue that Red had been treated for heartworm and wanted to follow up with our local vet and establish a relationship. We brought him to a vet in Troy (that shall remain unnamed) and they let us know that Red was healthy and good to go. They didn't seem personable there, so we asked around and were referred to Ark. Long story short, they found that Red still had heartworms! How was this possible when the other vet said they checked for it? Well, Ark thought the same thing and called the other vet who gave them no real answers so Ark took it into their own hands and called the rescue we got Red from along with the vet where he was treated while with the rescue. Talk about customer service. Red was treated for his heart worms and has now been heart worm free for 2 years now! I can't thank Dr. Kispert & Dr. Richter enough for all the help along with their wonderful staff. It means a lot to us to have such passionate professionals caring for our furry family members.

I have recently had two visits to this clinic with my pet rat, as had a very large ruptured abscess on his cheek. The staff was extremely warm, friendly, caring and gentle with him, even when he was flailing in distress. The doctor did a wonderful job with the surgical procedure, however I didn't feel she prepared me for the severity and graphic nature of the post-op wound. They explained his aftercare thoroughly, and gave me plenty of medicines, and made a few follow-up appointments. He is healing well, and I believe the thorough aftercare explanation helped immensly. I will continue to use them for my rodent care.

I have been going to Ark for 15 years or so and I must say I never felt I was overcharged. I have and always will take every animal I own here. The staff is knowledgeable and caring to your pets needs. I have had check ups where they did not even charge me, also when we had to put our cat and dog down they didn't charge me there either. The relationship they establish between them and your pet is outstanding, they care for your animal as if it were their own. They call after hours to check up and are always available to help. If you care for your animal then this is definitely the place for you to take them. I am not a family member and do not work there. I simply believe they are the best around.

Took in my cat for rabies shot. Was charged $37 for the office call, an additional $20 for a "Wellness exam", $28 for a one year vaccine and $2.50 for a "bio hazard" fee for a grand total of $87.50. I'm new to the area and thought this would be my new vet as we are so close. I have multiple pets and I have never been taken to the cleaners by a vet like this before. Just glad I found out about the price gouging with something routine and not something serious.

Great caring staff. My guinea pig Spike was born with a lung issue and had chronic pneumonia. He was so sick and after the vet tried every possible treatment, she recommended I put him down. They were incredibly kind. Their price are very good and the vet specializes in small pets like hamster/guinea pigs, etc.

Came here after googling veterinary clinics in the area, & I called around looking for a vet who could look at our rabbit, which is considered an exotic animal. Not many vets will tend to rabbits, they mostly see cats and dogs.Glad I found this great place. I can't say enough about the service and cate they give. I highly recommend them! Dr Kispert was very professional and compassionate.

I love Ark Veterinary Clinic and so does my baby boy. He is 10 and they have been taking good care of him since he was a pup. They always care a lot about him and they spend time explaining his treatment, medicines ect. He ate a bar of soap years ago and they nursed him back to health. He is very important to me and so I apriciate how much they care and do there work with heart. I wish they could see people, too! =) You wont be disappointed at Ark... Cute little Noahs Ark statues and decorations...

I will say the staff definitely deserves a bigger location even if they are a small practice. I was very pleased with my experience.

First off, do not trust the reviews for Ark Veterinary that you see on their Facebook page. They delete and block any review that is unfavorable to their business.Now, I can only speak for myself but seriously, do not take your animal to Ark's Veterinary in Shelby Township. Or do so at your pet's risk. After sinking nearly $400 in tests for my very ill cat, the doctor sent me home with a can of food. That was it. The next day she calls and says she wants to run ANOTHER $350 worth of tests, and I decide to pay $50 for the few meds that she recommends instead.Despite the fact that my cat's oxygen was extremely low (the doctor's assistant nurse just discredited the reading on the monitor because "that can't be right"); despite the fact that his liver looked bad according to the tests; despite the fact that his nose was discolored (to which I specifically pointed it out to the doctor, but to no interested response); despite the fact that I had the vet whom I had previously gone to, i.e. the PET DOCTOR, fax all of my cat's previous medical history; despite everything, the incompetent doctor at Ark Veterinary misdiagnosed and mistreated my cat. Less than 24 hours afterwards from receiving the meds and a couple of syringes to force food and aluminum hydroxide down his throat, my cat's nose was turning purple.I decided instead to take him back to the PET DOCTOR. There, they immediately gasped at my cat's condition and put him on oxygen. The color of his nose began to return. He would have died within hours from suffocation because of the negligence and ineptitude of Ark. Then they gave him a couple of shots and showed me the correct way to feed him (placing food on my finger and rubbing it on the upper mouth and not forcing it in with a syringe). For the first time in nearly a week my cat's tail was wagging, and, as you can imagine, the vet at the Pet Doctor was flabbergasted at the incompetence of the work done by Ark Veterinary. He wanted their info. He gave me medicine for my cat's liver and told me to discard the crap I had just paid over $50 the day prior for. Mind you, he did all of this just by looking at paper work, and to top it off, charged me only $100.The doctor at Ark should be held accountable. She nearly killed my cat and nearly charged me over $700 to do so, over half of which I paid and will probably not get back. Although I should. I hope your experience will not be as equally appalling and - had I just waited a few more hours - fatal to your pet.

Once you take your pet to Ark you won't go anywhere else. These people go ABOVE & BEYOND for their patients. Here's my story:Adopted the sweetest Doberman, who we named Red, from a dobe rescue out in Clinton, MI. We were told from the rescue that Red had been treated for heartworm and wanted to follow up with our local vet and establish a relationship. We brought him to a vet in Troy (that shall remain unnamed) and they let us know that Red was healthy and good to go. They didn't seem personable there, so we asked around and were referred to Ark. Long story short, they found that Red still had heartworms! How was this possible when the other vet said they checked for it? Well, Ark thought the same thing and called the other vet who gave them no real answers so Ark took it into their own hands and called the rescue we got Red from along with the vet where he was treated while with the rescue. Talk about customer service. Red was treated for his heart worms and has now been heart worm free for 2 years now! I can't thank Dr. Kispert & Dr. Richter enough for all the help along with their wonderful staff. It means a lot to us to have such passionate professionals caring for our furry family members.

I have recently had two visits to this clinic with my pet rat, as had a very large ruptured abscess on his cheek. The staff was extremely warm, friendly, caring and gentle with him, even when he was flailing in distress. The doctor did a wonderful job with the surgical procedure, however I didn't feel she prepared me for the severity and graphic nature of the post-op wound. They explained his aftercare thoroughly, and gave me plenty of medicines, and made a few follow-up appointments. He is healing well, and I believe the thorough aftercare explanation helped immensly. I will continue to use them for my rodent care.

I have been going to Ark for 15 years or so and I must say I never felt I was overcharged. I have and always will take every animal I own here. The staff is knowledgeable and caring to your pets needs...
I have been going to Ark for 15 years or so and I must say I never felt I was overcharged. I have and always will take every animal I own here. The staff is knowledgeable and caring to your pets needs. I have had check ups where they did not even charge me, also when we had to put our cat and dog down they didn't charge me there either. The relationship they establish between them and your pet is outstanding, they care for your animal as if it were their own. They call after hours to check up and are always available to help. If you care for your animal then this is definitely the place for you to take them. I am not a family member and do not work there. I simply believe they are the best around.

Took in my cat for rabies shot. Was charged $37 for the office call, an additional $20 for a "Wellness exam", $28 for a one year vaccine and $2.50 for a "bio hazard" fee for a grand total of $87.50. I'm new to the area and thought this would be my new vet as we are so close. I have multiple pets and I have never been taken to the cleaners by a vet like this before. Just glad I found out about the price gouging with something routine and not something serious.
