Yale Veterinary Hospital

Yale, Michigan
General Info
Yale Veterinary Hospital is renowned for its reliable and comprehensive services designed to meet the needs of pet owners. Yale pet owners look up to Yale Veterinary Hospital for behavioral guidance and support in meeting the basic veterinary needs of pets across Michigan. During the first stage of every visit, they observe the animals’ pacing patterns, vocalization habits, physical stances, and eye movements to determine which tool to use. Evaluations of physical health look at the status of body hydration, coat status, oral health, body core stability, limb movement and balance control. Owner observations (through organised conversation): Key elements of concern are recent behaviour around people, changes in appetite, noise sensitivity and disrupted sleep. Yale Veterinary Hospital offers a wide range of services including medical evaluations, preventative screenings, dental treatments, minor surgical procedures, post-operative care and ongoing wellness programs. Staging depends on the number of pets in the home, caregiver time availability, and emotional processing needs after difficult visits. Families can do an at-home follow-up without confusion if diagrams and instructions have clear details. Schedules are fluid. Pet owners are encouraged to adjust plans accordingly and help their pets as much as possible. The optional nature of check-ins and the asynchronous updates ensure that no extra pressure is placed beyond what is necessary for healthcare progress. The support tools include printed summaries and flow charts, as well as pain behavior mapping pathways for communication tiering. Yale Veterinary Hospital provides veterinary services across Yale and Michigan that align with the household’s capacity by respecting animal cues and caregiver circumstances during every interaction. The practice provides various services such as bloodwork, surgery, spay/neuter procedures, pet euthanasia, and an in-house pharmacy. These therapeutics help pets through the various stages of their lives, from routine wellness to advanced medical care. Pet owners value the team’s expertise and the caring manner in which they communicate, as well as how well the clinic explains medical choices. Whether it is senior care or urgent needs, the team identifies opportunities to foster long-term relationships through consistent and compassionate services. The clinic also plays a significant role in educating animal owners and promoting preventive strategies. The clinic’s promotion of responsible pet ownership in the local community would also ensure that Yale Veterinary Hospital, as an entity, is stronger. New clients together with returning ones state that the facility offers a serene environment to pets and its practices continue being highly professional as years go by.

The worse vet experience hands down. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Short version- took two cats in to get shots and fixed, only one got fixed and shots(and she didn't do well). They had me come back in 10 days to try again with 2nd, only to be told it "might" happen. They're scammers- charge you for tests/things that you don't want or need with no real interest or care for your pet. They're just trying to get as much money out of each animal as possible. My mistake going back the second time thinking things could be different. Actual situation that happened- I took both cats in ten days ago to be fixed vaccinated for about $600. One cat they fix, one cat they leave sitting in a cage all day- with no water or food because he was supposed to get surgery-claiming theyre waiting to get a urinalysis for a UTI and doing fecal test. They said they'd call me to get him within a half hour if it wasn't successful, they never did. Female comes out looking half dead- I had to bring her back the next day for fluids and such she literally looked like she was dying and hadn't ate or drank in over 24 hrs. Of course I had to pay for after they told me I wouldn't. Male they tell me bring him back in 10 days to do another urinalysis to see if UTI is gone and do surgery. So I do. Which turns into me sitting in my car for a half hour after they told me "it'd be a minute" (I live 3 minutes drive away it's stupid for me to sit and waste gas staying warm) but figured they meant a few minutes. They finally call and say they are gonna keep him all day again to try and get the urinalysis and may or may not do the surgery, do everything (tests, vaccines etc) since they couldn't last time, hand me an estimate of $500. I get home and look at the estimate and they are trying to give him vaccines he already got, tests he had done, and "sample collection" he got done TEN days ago. Plus a bunch of things I never authorized, such as an x-ray for $100. So I called them and told them put my cat back in his carrier don't touch him I'm coming to get him. Your not doing all this unauthorized s*** you just did ten days ago. When I got there the lady had the audacity to try and argue with me about if they actually did those charges or not. There is absolutely no communication behind the counters, and it spills over to the customers. It is by the far the most unprofessional, worse experience I've ever had with a vet office. I explicitly told these people MULTIPLE times. JUST basic vaccines, getting fixed, and fecal and leukemia tests. Yet I get an estimate back that says "wellness visit, x-ray, samples collections (twice for one cat?), extra vaccines, tests, microchip, getting fixed, collar, etc. They clearly were going to have my cat sit in a cage all day again to try and charge me another days worth of tests and a visit, and "get him fixed another day" just like last time. I'm not sure how a place that is this bad is still in practice, other than the fact it's the middle of nowhere and they take advantage of that fact. Well, I'll drive down to metro Detroit where I got my first cat fixed and shots and it went NO where near as traumatizing for me or the cats. Read Less

I've been taking my animals there for about 17 years, and although the veterinarians are pretty great, it does sometimes take a very long time to be seen. The biggest issue i have is with of one of the secretaries. I've been told about her attitude and I, too, have seen it first hand. The most recent time I was in there she purposely ignored me for a significant period of time. Certainly she was dealing with another client as he was leaving, but she was done cashing him out; she continued making small talk and purposely stood around and waited for something else to say to him while I stood at the counter. She knew why I was there... to pick up the cremations of a beloved pet. I could tell she had an atttiude because once I asked if I could just get the ashes myself (as I am on time constraints to pick up my daughter off the bus) she had a complete attitude with me once I asked it I could just get them (and I've done it before without a problem). Normally she is okay to deal with, but her inconsistencies make someone not even want to go back, especially because they are a little expensive. Dr. Nordrum is a great vet; very caring too! The other vets are as well, but Dr. Nordrum definitely stands out due to her being thorough in her explanations. Read Less

I brought a tiny orphaned kitten in to Yale Veterinary Hospital with no appointment and I was a new client. One of his eyes was almost completely closed up with infection. That little guy was treated like he was the most important kitten ever. They took him in and watched over him, while I went back to work, and until Dr. Andrea S. Nordrum was able to take a look at him later that day. She patiently coaxed him out of the carrier and very gently examined him, taking the time to explain common conditions with strays and what to look for and how to apply the eye drops. Andrea is genuine and kind. Having recently moved to the area, I feel fortunate to have found her.Read Less

My barn cat showed up very sick after being gone for three or four days. She was clearly very sick, so I walked in (without an appointment) to the clinic, and one of techs looked at the cat (almost immediately) and decided she needed to see the vet, who I was able to see after only a five-minute wait. After reviewing the x-ray, the probable diagnosis was feline infectious peritonitis, which has a poor prognosis. We decided that euthanasia was called for. The tech was sensitive, patient and supportive when she returned the cat to me. My thanks to the Yale Vetinary Hospital. Read Less

I have had many pets before and this place (especially Dr Nordrum) has been the most concerned with the pet instead of just getting through the visit. I live in Port Huron 30 min away. To me it is worth the drive. I have never had a problem with my bill, but I pay my bill at time of visit. So, the second person we saw was a women, who was professional. I don't have any issue with her service, however, when you pay for an xray, you pay to have it read. After 3 weeks, the xray was never read. My dog needs surgery, the question is: can they do it and how much. Never called me, they never followed up, they didn't treat him. Complete waist of time and money.

Read Less

This veterinary hospital is the best I have found. I have had many pets before and this place (especially Dr Nordrum) has been the most concerned with the pet instead of just getting through the visit. I live in Port Huron 30 min away. To me it is worth the drive. I have never had a problem with my bill, but I pay my bill at time of visit. They are very throrough and explain everything like how the pet will react to the medication and iwhat to watch for in case of any problems. I give all kudos to this hospital. Read Less
