I came here looking for a more down-to-earth approach to veterinary medicine for my cat, but was sadly disappointed. They have a very factory approach and feel at the practice; get through the animal as quickly as possible and move onto the next one. The email flurry of activity after the visit was a real turn-off. They suggested a FLV test for my cat who was adopted from the humane society (HS screens for that and they were provided with adoption records), indoor only, senior, only cat in the household and that was the last straw. It aggravated me and left me feeling like there'd be the potential for unnecessary testing or procedures in the future. This was one of the key reasons i was looking for a new Vet. Suffice to say, I am yet again in the market for an old-fashioned country Vet with lots of practical experience and real life advice who may not be the most technology savvy, but knows why on earth my cats ears are so itchy they drive him nuts. He has no mites or other obvious problems that should cause itching. "Hmm, well yeah, just keep doing what you're doing." Hmm, yeah, no. If you're a Vet 1) care enough to ask clarifying questions about the problem to truly assess it and 2) care enough about my cat driving himself bonkers itching his ears. FLV? Dr Wuerth is the best vet I've ever encountered in my life. She is just plain wonderful.We started seeing her in a sad moment...my boyfriend's dog started acting weak and his friend recommended we take his dog here. Sadly, Dr. Wuerth diagnosed my boyfriend's dog with cancer and he died a few months later, but Dr. Wuerth was so clear, professional, helpful, and kind to us during this time that I decided to start bringing my senior cat to her, even though she is further away from me and out of the way compared to my previous vet in Ann Arbor. Though my previous vet was right up the road she never explained anything clearly, was often brusque, and was extremely expensive, and seemed to try and get extra money or visits out of us when she could. Dr Wuerth's clinic is less than half of the price, but that isn't the reason I come here-- I'd pay anything for great care for my pet. In this case, even though it's been less expensive to see Dr Wuerth, my cat's care and my piece of mind has greatly improved. She explains everything, so well, she can handle even tricky diagnoses,  and goes out of her way to talk you through anything and give the best advice she can. Maybe she is just explaining everything so much more clearly, but I trust her so much more than my previous vet, both in terms of the actual medical information she is providing and in terms of not overtreating. The staff are equally helpful and kind. Like I said, the best! So glad I started coming here.I saw some negative reviews after I wrote this. Took my dog in for an emegency today (while romping around outside and chasing the ball, she managed to get a 4 inch piece of stick jammed in her mouth) they say her right away, gave me tissues while I cried and they took care of my baby! We were there less than an hour and they got stick removed and gave me eveything I needed to make sure she was okay. The staff was AMAZING, explained what they needed to do, and did it. They were so caring and helpful. We will definately be back (hopefully not for an emergency!) I felt the prices were very reasonable for services they provided. Read Less

Amazing customer service. Great care. Our dog needed a lump removed and she was well taken care of. They took the time to make sure I knew everything I needed to know when I took her home, They were wonderfully kind to our dog and always refer to her by name. Let me tell you about how much I love this vet. I moved down to Ypsilanti roughly around 2 years ago. I brought my English bulldog with me. If anyone has a bulldog. They know the medical problem struggle with these adorable wrinkled faces. One of the girls from work recommended me to this place. Super nice, clean and friendly place, also Lucy the clinic cat is super ADORABLE! Every time I would go in they treated him like a god damn rock star and went above and beyond to figure out what was wrong with him. I cried to them so many times and they really listened to me and knew my pain about these adorable beasts. I followed everything they told me on how to get him better. I just recently moved and I couldn't get his meds up in Bay City unless I had to get a check up or a script. I called down to them and they helped me out. I really wish Ypsilanti and Bay City were right next to each other. This place is amazing thanks to the wonderful staff and the doctors. I really couldn't say one thing bad about this place. I love this clinic! Everyone is friendly and seems to care about the pets on a personal level. Like, so personal that they are in the floor with them because my dogs (Rick-James and Landshark) don't like to get on tables. I didn't have to wait to be seen and the prices are about what I expected. They also showed me how to medicate my dog's ear by using the cat who lives there as a demonstration model. Dr Wueth has been our veterinarian for a year and we couldn't be more pleased with her or our experiences at the clinic. Our dog has a condition that requires daily management, monthly injections and quarterly tests. The staff worked with me to find the most affordable way to pay for her visits (we use the monthly plan), order her medication and to apply the information learned from the tests to other areas of her well-being.   Despite her age and diagnosis, she's in the best health of her life because she is so closely managed. Also, we are greeted by name by every staff member. We did have a wait for an appointment once, but we were informed that an emergency case had come in and we were offered a later appointment, which seemed fair and the treatment I'd want for my own dog if she was in trouble. Whittaker Road Animal Clinic the greatest!  Dr. Wuerth is gentle, caring and knowledgeable;  the staff is proficient, warm and friendly. I've had the pleasure of visiting them several times over the past 1 1/2 years (we have 3 cats), and each time was pleased with the care and services we received.I have recommended them to 2 of my friends, and both of them say that they also had very positive experiences.  One was a euthanasia, always a difficult situation, which was handled tenderly and compassionately; the other was the owner of multiple Rotweilers which had posed difficulties for the staff at other clinics, which he reported were welcomed, and handled and treated skillfully. My cat was having some ear issues, and I had recently moved right down the road from this clinic, so I decided to try it out.  I got her ear infection treated successfully, but it required multiple visits, and every time I was in, I was pressured to sign up for some kind of "senior cat wellness plan".  The doctor I saw was fine, but the constant sales pitches just left a bad taste in my mouth about the clinic in general. I'm really surprised to see the negative reviews are more recent than the positive ones since i have the totally opposite feeling about this place since Dr. Wuerth came along. She knows me and my dogs by name and is clearly invested in their well being. Like some of the other posters, my dogs are on the monthly payment plan its saved me an absolute bundle of money so far and we're into our second year. I've never been charged for an emergency visit even if I need a same day appointment. I don't think I've ever had to wait more than a day for an emergency appointment (which I've never actually been charged for even though the plan doesn't "cover" those) and maybe a week for a regular appointment, and that's only because I need an evening slot. Not to mention the plan covers a yearly dental cleaning, which by itself would cost roughly the same amount as the entire year of the plan. I love this vet and I recommend it to all of my friends without hesitation. Read Less

My local vet stop.  I come here for my furry child's checkups and whenever he gets sick or into trouble. The front desk folks are great, and always cheery and helpful.I am on the ~$30 (or so payment insurance/health plan) which keeps all my visits "free", and helps cover standard annual shots and checks. I did the math based on previous years and the monthly plan i enough to cover what my dog needs.I haven't had any bad experiences here, and the appointments are always on time and get me out the door in 20-30 min (or so). My dog of course would rate this place 0 stars, because he HATES coming here (his problem). But anyway, great local vet.  Not sure why the other people dislike it, but experiences always differ. I agree with Heather.  I have taken 5 German Shepherds here.  When I first moved to Michigan the attending Vet was excellent. Unfortunately, this location seems to "rotate" doctors. Sometimes you get a good one and sometimes.... We took our dogs to one vet because there is an advantage to familiarity. However, the records are not always accurate and the prices are outrageous. I have worked in veterinary medicine for six years, and I recently took my cat here because it's very close to us. I would not recommend it. First, the staff up front was great, and the place is clean and very nice, esthetically-speaking. However, for my cat and her very minor cough, we waited 55 minutes for a doctor to come into the room. When he finally did, he didn't apologize for the hour-long wait (which I think is poor service, no matter who you are in a business). He did a thorough exam, and then recommended I get her tested for a variety of things and said someone would work up an estimate. Twenty minutes later, a tech came in to take her and do tests. She knew nothing about the estimate. We decided to just leave, because once I saw the estimate, I was shocked at the prices--at least twice the price of any other standard veterinary clinic. I wanted to get her Clavamox, and it was easily 2.5X the price you would find it anywhere else. A veterinary friend of mine was able to get us the meds for 1/4 of the price, and I think we will not be going to this vet hospital again. Maybe it was a bad day, but for us being brand-new clients, they sure made a poor impression! Read Less
