I love this place, it is clean ,doesn't smell ,the front people are very kind, vet techs are great with dogs ,sat on the floor and gave my pitty a shot he didn't even know what happened ,they have my business all the way ,you can tell the animals mean a lot to them ,very reasonable cost for office visits,meds and the saddened end of life. OMG. I just had an out of the no where emergency with our dog, and we live 2 miles away. I just said .” Omg! We are on our way, we live just down the street and my dog just bit my other dog!” They welcomed us with open arms even though it was 6 minutes to close. Now. I work in customer service, and I understand the frustration of staying late. I hate it... but Dr. chestnut was AMAZING in this emergency to us. Stapled our dogs leg up and even got into a detailed talk about our other dogs disease.... anyways we have worked with dr Jacobs’s as well and he is fantastic with animals, very detailed and I like that! Loved all the staff except for 2 new interns (Summer 2016). Dr Gauer was amazing with all my questions and very gentle with my hound. My hound had to have a surgery, which is concerning, especially since my hound is a Greyhound and has much different needs than other breeds. He asked me to come back so he could review Greyhound anesthesia to double check he was following guidelines. Apparently they don't see too many Greyhounds if any at all except mine. The rest of the staff was so wonderful in their jobs, especially always handling phone calls professionally and with sincerity and carrying and also handled some concerns over the phone to save me an office visit. My hound has passed away but if I ever have the need for a vet again I will Always choose this office, no matter the breed. They all really seem to live their jobs and they all sincerely love every hound that comes in the door. They treat you and your hound like Family and our hounds are our Family. I appreciate their sensitivity and respect for how I wanted to handle every situation, right down to the last seconds before my hounds passing and the time immediately following his passing by giving me as much time and space and info that I needed. I am incredibly grateful for how they worked with me and my beloved hound, Always gentle, loving and sincere. I cannot say enough good things about them. They're caring and take the time with you and make sure you understand the health and condition of your pet. Our dog had a very serious case of lime's a d they sent samples out of state for testing and then began with a treatment that all but cured her of the disease and is totally under control now. I changed Vets recently and decided to go to this clinic because it is closer to where I live. My one dog had a bladder infection so I brought her in everything seemed ok. I thought this was my new clinic. Mind you this has been a month now and 3 urinalysis later and an ex-ray they have no idea why my dogs red blood cell count is so high. She has been put on 3 antibiotics which only 1 was documented and put in her chart they have no recorded of the other 2 prescription she was put on. This is possibly the worst place I have brought my dogs spent a lot of $$$ for them to say she has only been one 1 med. although it has been 3 and they basically do not know what is going on so they are doing nothing for her. A am a student studying for vet tech and I volunteered there these last two summers and I see that they treat their animal patient with great care. They know what they are doing and know how to take care of your animals. I also had to bring mu cat there when she has a rare form of a UTI and she was treated very well and they actually prescribed a treatment plan for her that cleared it up in a matter of weeks. Our dogs have received excellent care from Ham Lake Vets. The doctors and the staff are caring, patient, and thoughtful. Dr. Gauer saved our bichon a few years ago after a poison incident and we are so grateful. They have provided tailored treatments to meet the needs of our dogs. Very professional and compassionate, too! Their office is clean and convenient. You can tell they love pets. I highly recommend this clinic.
