Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital

Big Lake, Minnesota
General Info
Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital holds a notable reputation within the local pet community for its considerate and holistic pet care practices. Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital in Big Lake provides Minnesota pet owners the opportunity to maintain a solid clinical foundation for their pets through the various stages of development, transition, and health reset with compassionate clarity. Weekly data from the home schedule and family’s observations are collected through listening, and appointments are set up. During initial visits, veterinarians perform a comprehensive physical examination. This includes an assessment of the animal’s dental health, gait and joint health, eye condition, hydration status and responses of nervous systems. Behaviors such as eating, sleeping and physical contact should be studied and the latest developments reported to the veterinarian. These patterns help establish care pacing by preventing the rush into decisions. The Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital provides the following services: preventive care, diagnostic panels and weight tracking, surgical consults, senior wellness services and chronic conditions coaching. Plans are tailored to families’ living situations, whether they live in a city apartment with new noise challenges or have multiple pets at different life stages. Transition strategies empower pet owners to remain confident as their pets’ care needs shift from preventative and temporary to continuous monitoring and balanced maintenance. Clear explanations of every progression phase, behavioral consistency at home, ease in caring for the pet at home, and readiness for the next visit are some of the ways to track advancement. The team uses a spread-out approach with built-in flexibility and optional check-ins so as not to burden the family with too many tasks. Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital provides veterinary services to families in Big Lake and throughout Minnesota, consistent with the natural life cycles of their pets, through a responsive and organized approach that achieves shared progress. The practice provides various services including deworming, emergency care, vaccinations, pain management, and nutritional counseling. These services accompany pets on their health journey throughout life, from general check-ups to sophisticated medical interventions. Pet owners appreciate the team’s expertise and compassionate communication style. The goal is to establish a long-term relationship through consistent attention and adequate care regardless of the issue, whether senior pet care or an urgent health matters. The clinic also plays a vital role in educating owners and devising ways of improving the health conditions of the animals. Thanks to the company, pet owners have a strong foundation for responsible care in the form of community programs. New and returning clients note that this clinic transforms and grows together with the modern veterinary tendencies.

They save me a trip to my dog's main vet two towns over, that's the only reason I go here. I brought my dog in for what I was certain was spay incontinence. They misdiagnose it as a UTI. $500 later I finally go to her main provider and immediately get her on the meds I wanted to get her on to begin with. Also, everything's an add-on with them. Like they're always trying to sell you an extra exam or analysis you don't need. Probably to make money. Either way, they're good for annual shots and clipping nails, just say no to the extras. Plus they're really nice, which is why they're not getting one star Read Less

From when we walked in it wasn't a positive experience. Ignored by the front, they were talking to each other and eating in the back. They called our dog back and the rooms weren't very clean and smelled a bit. They gave our dog the Lyme disease vaccine and the assistant couldn't explain what it was and kept coughing on our dog. We moved from Colorado so Lyme disease is very new to us. Didn't offer tick repellent, to cut our dogs nails or heart guard for her. The biggest issue was when it came to a certain medicine that we have to have ordered and mailed to our home. They assured us that they would change our address with the company to be sent to our new Minnesota address. Sure enough 2 weeks later we had to call the company and they sent the medication to our old Colorado address. Meanwhile, our dog peed all over our house since she didn't have this medication. After our dog got ticks (so gross!) I had to call them and go in to get tick repellent and heart worm medication. We are very disappointed and will be taking our dog elsewhere since they seem a bit clueless about what they are and aren't doing for our dogs health and well being. We tried this place since it was close, however we would rather drive farther for better care. Read Less

When they brought him out they had a cone (I guess they did not get any small free ones from their venders) on him that was larger than him.
