Forgive this long post.
I've put up with this clinic because they are close to my home, but their rudeness and superior attitude far outweigh the positives that we have had at this clinic and this last incident is the final straw! My mother's cat is her comfort care animal. I am a full time caregiver to my mom, who lives in our home. When we couldn't get a hold of Edinburgh pet center. We called the clinic where a family friend is a licensed vet. This Clinic is quite a drive from our home. The front desk didn't know that we knew one of the vets at this clinic but showed us compassion by fitting us in for an appointment the day that I called them. They even stayed opened a bit past their usual hours so that my moms cat could be seen.
Her cat is in the last stages of life but does not need to go home to God quite yet. Her cat needs pain medication to keep him comfortable. The vet that saw and examined my mothers cat, gave us a few days of pain meds to see if his pain could be managed. Edinburgh had faxed my mothers cats information to the other vet, so they are aware that he was being examined. When we saw that the pain meds helped, the vet clinic faxed a prescription to Edinburgh pet center. Edinburgh refused to fill this pain medication because they wanted to examine her cat themselves, because it had been a couple of years since he was seen. Which we found out when my husband and daughter went to Edinburgh to see if they had the medicine. He's an indoor cat that barely leaves my mothers bed. I can understand that with a controlled substance that they need to me very careful. That being said, They have seen this cat numerous times so it is not an unknown cat. They know of his kidney issues, etc.
My complaint is that they didn't even try to be compassionate by talking to us or the other vet. When husband and daughter went over to Edinburgh to find out if they had received the fax. The person that came out to the car said that they didn't have any record of this cat. Then when asked to go check again, she went to the vet and did find out that this cat did indeed exist in their system but came back with even a bigger attitude than before as she told how they would not do anything unless they could examine the cat. Maybe they have money to burn by repeating an exam, but my mother does not!
So my daughter is having to make the almost an hour trip to go and get some more pain meds and once again this clinic is going out of its way to help us help my moms cat. The vet gave me a call to see how the cat was doing and is making sure that the meds are all prepared for us before my daughter arrives. And because Edinburgh was not even polite enough to call and give us the information that they would not dispense this med without an exam, which we didn't find out until they stopped by there to check and see if they had received the fax. The other clinic is gladly staying open so that we can get the pain meds today. Which they would not have had to do if Edinburgh would have been polite enough to notify us earlier. Edinburgh has become a clinic that if you have money, they will like you, but if you have to be careful with your funds and can't take your pet in for every little thing, they really make you feel bad and look down on you. I have a fairly thick skin and try to give the benefit of the doubt, but not when this behavior is habitual.
We have taken more of our pets to them other than just my mothers cat. At one time, way back when they opened they were nicer and seemed to care. But not so much anymore. If you have a good repore with them great, but if you are looking for a new vet, go somewhere else!!!!! Read Less
