We have been proud to serve the needs of Oak Grove and the surrounding communities for canine and feline veterinary care since 2001. We appreciate the support of many wonderful clients who have helped us grow each year—you allowed us to meet our goal of building a clinic in 2010 to provide more space to meet the needs of growing numbers of families and pets. We provide medical and surgical care, as well as dentistry and radiology, for both dogs and cats. Routine surgeries, including spays and neuters and lump removals among others, are performed by our staff doctors. All but the most complicated dental procedures and dental x-rays are also performed by our staff doctors. We have an x-ray machine with digital processing so that, if x-rays are needed, the results can be interpreted almost immediately. When necessary, we use the services of veterinary surgeons who come to our clinic to operate. We also have ready access to specialists in internal medicine, emergency care, dentistry, radiology, and dermatology when the need arises. We utilize the services of veterinarians who specialize in ultrasound and bring their equipment and expertise directly to our clinic so that, if your pet is in need of it, ultrasound can be performed in familiar surroundings. Our goal is always to help you provide the best care possible for your pet.

Worst experience!! One of our dogs ingested rat poison (unknowingly to us) 6 days prior to us dropping them off for the 4th of July weekend. We had the dogs kept in the same kennel to keep each other company. On Thursday we dropped off our two dogs and Saturday night they called us and said one of our dogs was bleeding from the nose and noticed his stools were very black. The vet said they would run some tests in the morning but nothing to be too concerned about. We had to wait until 5 P.M. Sunday evening to pick them up. They didn't do any tests on Sunday and never updated us on his condition. When we picked him up he showed all symptoms of rat poisoning (vomiting up blood, difficulty breathing, gums were very pale, depressed and sickly looking). It was a young male employee working. When we received our dogs they were in separate kennels, leading me to believe they knew something was wrong but didn't do anything about it. We got the dogs and the employee went in the back to grab our two dog pillows. When we received them the one pillow was soaking wet and covered in blood and feces stains. It seemed as if he just sprayed off the blood and feces with a hose. We immediately rushed him to another clinic and now he is in an oxygenated room due to the mass amounts of blood in his lungs caused from internal bleeding from the poison. Our family, along with my in-laws and brother-in-law, will not be returning with our total of six dogs.Read Less

Sometimes finding a good vet is very hard to do. I lucked out here, its close to home and the staff are all amazing. With 3 dogs and 4 cats in a household, you are bound to have mishaps on top of the regularly scheduled vet visits (like shots and teeth cleanings). We have spent far too much time in this office recently due to a hodgepodge of mishaps and sick animals. I had to bring in one of my kitties for a wound on his tail (thanks to the teeth of another household kitty). The staff worked with me to get him in as fast as possible to help my poor kitty that wouldn't even hold his tail up (I am sure it hurt badly). Antibiotics and pain meds did the trick and he is healing just fine now.Took one doggy in to have her teeth cleaned and we discovered she has Cushings Disease, thankfully we can treat this disease and keep the poor girl comfortable and happy for awhile. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the disease, we will eventually have to make the hard decision to put her down. The Vet has been very helpful in answering all of our (plentiful) questions on the disease and the welfare of our beloved doggy.Another doggy had a lump on his nose that grew quite suddenly. We were all very concerned about the diagnosis and decided to have the lump removed and sent out to pathology to be tested for cancer. The lump came back non-cancerous and turned out to be some 'normal' puppy lump (even though he is 8, the Vet commented he is young at heart!).Our final doggy had a lump on his leg that wouldn't go away (and he wouldn't stop licking) so we elected to have it removed, as he was already scheduled for a teeth cleaning and would be under for that procedure.Needless to say the recent vet visits have been costly, they were able to work with us on payment for all three doggies that needed to be put under for their procedures. All in all, I can tell you from (too much) experience, the folks at Oak Grove Animal Hospital are fabulous. If you are looking for a good vet in the north metro, I recommend them highly. They recently moved into a nice new location, free standing building with a big parking lot. It is just around the corner from their Viking Blvd location (in the mini-mall). Now located right next to a church on Round Lake Blvd.Oh, and they have a free-roaming in-house kitty cat. He is very sweet and meows obnoxiously. So beware if you have puppies that like to chase kitties. Read Less
