Foley Blvd. Animal Hospital was founded by Dr. Rodger Barr in January of 1981 as an 850 sq. ft. full service facility. The clinic was expanded to 2500 sq. ft. in 1986, at which time we went from two exam rooms to five exam rooms. Our most recent expansion/ total remodel was completed in September of 2012 and brought us to eight exam rooms. The new facility is State of the Art, and contains unique characteristics that exist in very few clinics in the U.S. Those innovative aspects include new technology LED lights throughout the facility, a back up natural gas powered generator that will kick in automatically if a power failure should occur, allowing all functions to operate as normal. The flooring in the treatment area, pharmacy, surgery, lab area, dental area, radiology and kennel area is a unique sprayed-on polyurea base over ½” felt, that allows for a more resilient cushy surface that will ease leg fatigue for employees. We have a dedicated Comfort Room for euthanasias as well as a quiet room for the very ill and their owners; this room has its own exit door, allowing owners the option to bypass the waiting room and maintain the privacy they deserve. The new Foley Blvd. Animal Hospital has digital radiology for dentistry as well as a full service digital radiology unit whose images will be projected into all exam rooms on our state of the art flat screen monitors. We have an upgraded in house Idexx lab that allows us to do most any chemistry or blood work on the spot and rapidly.
Foley Blvd. has always been associated with humane welfare groups, and supports the work that animal welfare groups provide. We are the main facility for Northern Lights Greyhound Adoption, and have been so since its inception in 1996. Our special focus on all pets, most notably sight hounds has led to an influx of all breeds of this category from far and wide to our facility. We think our level of compassion is extraordinary, and we show our love for pets through our excellent care and our willingness to support pets and owners who have fallen on hard times.
Our team is our greatest asset, and we are proud to have many team members who have worked for FBAH for well over 10 years, with five members exceeding 20 years. We believe our experience, compassion, and expertise goes a long way towards assuring the pet owner that their special companion will receive optimum care always.
Because our team of Veterinary Technicians/ Anesthetists has had extensive experience in the anesthesia of high risk patients (all sight hounds, as well as the very old and infirm) we feel our ability to manage your pet's surgical and anesthetic needs exceed the average Veterinary Hospital's capabilities. We are very proud of our results.
We are also associated with Board Certified Surgeons who come into our facility when a procedure exceeds our doctor’s level of expertise. The combination of our experienced Veterinary Technicians/ Anesthetists and top echelon Veterinary Surgeons, assures our surgical patients optimal results.
We leave no stone unturned when it comes to assessing a patient’s ability to undergo a surgical procedure. Standard presurgical blood tests are essential prior to any surgery. We take no chances and we do whatever possible to avoid regrets; this is another reason why our results are exemplary.
