This place (Dr. Jim) has no heart period! Only about the dollar bill imo. Jim had the nerve to rush my seizing dog out of the waiting area and tell us to go home when my dog couldn't even walk yet! Only because he had other scheduled appointments coming in. Remember me Jim? Few years ago?.. well I haven't returned and never will ever again! Learn how to properly accommodate or GET OUT OF THE BUSINESS. We continue to have rescue dogs and would never bring or recommend anyone to you. Sorry, wanted to love you guys. Read Less

This is our second dog that Dr Hargreaves has been the veterinarian for. She has always taken fabulous care of our pets. Dr Hargreaves is kind and loving with our dogs - and honest and informative with us when treatment is needed for our pets. She has an awesome manner with animals and people alike. Very friendly staff! Our 17 year old cat had to be put down recently. The staff sent a beautiful sympathy card signed by the entire staff and our cat's paw prints on a beautiful keepsake card. I love Doctor Hargreaves and the friendly staff at Prairie Village Pet Hospital. They are always thorough and on schedule. Our 9 year old Labrador Lola has many issues with allergies, bad teeth, etc. Doctor Hargreaves goes above and beyond to help us give her the best care she needs. You could not pay me to take a pet back here. I was sent home with an animal who would've suffered major complications had I not taken him to an emergency vet the next day. Even my new vet has verified that their practices are outdated and borderline dangerous - and they have ZERO bedside manner. I watched staff manhandle my pet when I arrived to pick him up. Since contacting them privately to share my thoughts, I've received emails and phone calls from their female vet literally screaming at me, degrading me, and openly insulting my intelligence. I'm happy to share these letters, and recommend a different vet, to anyone thinking about using this over-priced, under-qualified clinic. Worst mistake I ever made was walking through their door. We love PVPH! Dr. Nelson has been caring for all of our pets for the past 18 years. Most recently we had our two puppies fixed. Having gone through some difficult times the staff threw us a bone (pun intended) and helped us to have both boys neutered and quite happy might I say. Read Less

Dr. Nelson and all the vet techs here were SUPER nice and helpful. Dr. Nelson took a lot of time to explain everything to us in detail. He was very patient and knowledgeable. We've always taken our guinea pigs and rabbits here to get their "pedicures". The folks here are always so nice. Even after we moved, we still come back as we haven't found anyone near as wonderful as the staff here. Read Less

Can't recommend Eden Prairie Village Pet Hospital enough. We started taking our 14 year old dog to see them a few years ago and the personal service we receive is amazing. They love animals. The staff is extremely friendly and service oriented, They are full service and we now go there for grooming, food and vet service. Dr. Jim has been very helpful to educate us on the needs of our aging dog and what to expect and how to give her the best qualify of life. Thank you to all of you for the care you provide. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They check in on your animals after procedure. Even though this is a bit of a drive and the prices are higher than some, it is worth it. I feel like they care about my animals and they can do many services in house without having to send things out, for example some lab tests. Read Less

I am so impressed with Dr. Nelson. He fixed my Puppy Gigi's paw, and 2 days later, she is running on it like it it was never broken! He reassured me, told me exactly what to do, and put my mind at ease. I will be recommending him to all my friends with dogs. He even makes house calls! I have brought two MN Boxer Rescue foster dogs to PVPH and specifically to Dr. Sven. Love him and the service from all the staff members. They are a great team that go above and beyond. Dr. Sven explained everything to me in terms I could understand and the best way to help both boxer boys. Dr. Nelson has been nothing but understanding to the needs of a rescue. We had to put our beloved family black lab, Lexi, down this morning. She was almost 14 and began having cluster seizures on New Years Eve. My mother had a very difficult time with the decision. Although Dr. Nelson may not know it, the fact that he did not try to offer any aggressive treatments or alternative solutions, allowed my mother to arrive at the realization that it was time. As a result, she was able to make peace with a very difficult decision. It is never easy to have to make this decision for a beloved pet. We decided to have the procedure done in the comfort of our own home and I am so happy that we did. Dr. Nelson and Molly were so incredibly empathetic, kind, and supportive. The experience was as good as it can possibly get, given the circumstances. I really couldn't have asked for better treatment of my Lexi girl (and my parents). I moved here in 1985. For for the first decade, I took my pets to one of the most honored vets in the region. When Bill retired, I asked him where to take my retriever and two cats. He suggested Jim Nelson at PVPH. Bill knew I wanted access to my vet, that I needed to learn more about animal behavior and wellness with each visit. When my Golden, Murph, was born, Bill ordered a set of dental tools for me, and taught me how to scale Murph's teeth. Bill also knew I valued a frank, human relationship with my vet and clinic, that I was a pet-owner who expected treatment options, and wanted to work with someone who had animals in his blood -- and a sense of humor, too. So, I've been with Jim Nelson's clinic ever since, and have recommended 12 friends and associates, who valued PVPH as much as I did. As a volunteer for a division of U of M's College of Veterinary Medicine, and a former volunteer for area humane organizations, I became well-acquainted with our vet community. It is impressive, and as varied as one would expect. I knew some vets had people skills -- and knew how to educate humans as they tended to pets. I found that some were married to certain treatments and drug regimens, that some were alopathic and rejected holistic medicine; that some flatly rejected augmentation with homeopathy, that a few thought environment played a more limited role in pet health than I did. As a surgeon, Jim has extensive knowledge, experience and confidence. In all, he has performed nearly ten surgeries for my animals, and triaged two TPLO surgeries to his superb colleague, Dr. Levine. PVPH works beautifully for a few reasons other than its vets. Jim has assembled some of the most well-educated, compassionate vet techs and associates in the area. In addition, his network of specialists is extensive. He refers clients on the basis of need, location and track-record; and I have never been disappointed. My old Golden's two TPLO surgeries have served her well since age 4 without complication. She can STILL RUN, even at 13. The clinic's urgent care service is a blessing to those who, after hours, need effective, cost-conscious alternatives to the costly urgent care centers out here. I'm also grateful that, in an emergency, my pet goes to a familiar place for treatment, and that it's accessible from five major thoroughfares. If you're about to adopt a pet, or need an alternative to your present clinic, you'd err if you didn't investigate Jim and his team. He and his staff (including the amazing Jamila,) have been stewards of two generations of animal companions here. These good people have taken them through routine exams, ACL problems, arthritis episodes, lipomas and more suspect tumors, auto-immune conditions, therapeutic food selection (always spot-on,) acute and chronic infections, eye and ear issues, esophageal conditions, heart murmurs, recovery from poisoning, removal of skin lesions, paw problems, hip concerns, intestinal obstructions -- and more. ALL of my pets under the care of this clinic lived, and still live, full lives, chronologically and qualitatively. ALL of my pets have become accustomed to the clinic and its staff. As a bit of an obsessive man, I always study the drugs, compounds and other treatments the clinic recommends, but I cannot outsmart them. They are too good. Please add this clinic to your list. I'm writing this because of the hundreds of ways they've served my animals, and those of our friends. I am grateful my canine and feline friends have been in great hands these past 14 years. I have been taking my dogs to this pet hospital for the past 5 years. The doctors and staff are very friendly and very respectful of you. It is apparent that they care a great deal about the animals they see; and are concerned about the dog owner, as well. You will not be kept waiting. Tests and treatments that are NOT necessary - will NOT be done. When I asked if my dog needed to have his teeth cleaned, the doctor said it didn't have to be done right away. Read Less
