My dog needed euthanized and was told by the receptionist I would need to bring him around back so the other patients would not see and they would do it in their garage. Are you kidding me? The front staff seemed quite disorganized. Don't think the woman actually knew much about using the computer. First thing I noticed was the smell. Dog/cat urine. The waiting area was covered with dog hair. Not a good first impression. When we got into a room it seemed better although I got the feeling that it had not been cleaned recently. The vet came in (Sarah Broun), asked a few questions and did a quick exam. We had came in because our dog was sneezing and coughi...ng. She diagnosed an upper respiratory and said we would start on antibiotics. I also had them draw blood for a heartworm test. This was done and after paying the bill of over $200 we left. When we got home the vet called and said our dog had borderline positive heartworm and we could pick up 20 more days of the antibiotic to treat it. In fairness the bill did include the antibiotic, heartworm med and flea/tick preventive plus the blood test and exam. She also stated that dogs often pick up a tick and the owners don't know it which surprised me knowing that heartworm is caused by mosquitos. The next day I called another vet clinic and explained this. They had me come in, did a thorough exam, did another blood test which was sent out to a lab. The results were that our dog does not have heartworm or an upper respiratory. My issues are #1 the condition of the office, #2 Misdiagnosis and the failure of the vet to know where heartworm comes from, #3 Saying that the antibiotic would take care of the heartworm if he had it. This antibiotic has no effect on heartworm. Because of these issues I will be reporting Farmington Vet Clinic to whatever agency deals with this type of thing. I had to say good bye to my beloved ginger kitty the Saturday before Christmas. I had never stepped foot in this clinic before that day. What A nice caring bunch of people they treated us so kindly and with so much compassion. I was a wreck and they helped me through it. I am new to the area (Cannon Falls) this was the only clinic that was open and I will now be a new customer. We started are pets at Banfield years ago, thinking that a "Wellness" plan was going to save us money, especially with multiple pets.  However, when our oldest dog (Chance) started displaying significant signs of heart failure, it became clear that this was a very bad choice.  Every time we had a concern, there was no vet available and we were told to take him to the emergency vet with his symptoms (needless to say the ppl at the desk of these facilities do not know much about older animal care), if I took there instruction I would be homeless.When we adopted our new fur baby 6/16 from Last Hope, this was the clinic that checked her to prepare her for adoption, so we decided that we were going to take her back to  Farmington Vet Clinic instead of Banfield.  They were great with her!  We ended up having to put her on a low dose of anti anxiety medication and they were very thorough and gave us multiple options to work with her issues.  We decided to move all the dogs to this clinic as we really liked the personalized service, and we didn't feel like they were always just trying to sell us something.Our older dog immediately started getting better care.  They were very responsive to my phone calls with concerns and changing medications/dosages.  Specifically Dr. Hennigar was very responsive and compassionate with Chance throughout his care.All of this was great, but....this past week, we had to make the decision to put Chance to sleep.  If you have been through this, you know how impossible it is.  Dr Hennigar was not in Monday, but Dr. Lorenz called my husband back promptly and let us know what all of our options were at that point.  It was clear that at 16, it was time to let him rest.  My husband took Chance in and was treated with total care and compassion.  (I couldn't do it) :(  He said that given the terrible situation, he could not have been more pleased with how everything was handled, and how reassuring they were that we were making the best choice for our fur baby.We are extremely grateful that the two fur babies we still have will be treated with the best care possible.  And literally from nail trims to advanced care - you will love it here! We can not thank the staff enough for their outstanding care and compassion for our fuzzy kids. A few days ago we had to make the painful decision to let one of our fur babies go to the rainbow bridge. She received the best care from Dr. Kris. She and the staff always gave Angel the best care and treated her as if she was their own. We made the decision after having an in depth conversation with Dr. Kris and we knew what we had to do for Angel. They worked around our work schedules (we had to coordinate 4 work schedules) and the staff was nothing but professional, kind, compassionate and allowed us to take our time saying goodbye. Everything was explained as to each step and what to expect. I can not imagine how many times they have walked families through that difficult time...they are truly amazing people. These people are the only ones who will care for our fuzzy kids. Thank you to Dr Kris and everyone at Farmington Vet Clinic for being amazing and loving our fuzzy kids! We have been going to this vet for many years, maybe 7 or 8 years or so.  The vets Kris and Amy are very good and caring.  About 7 years ago, our sweet Puggle chased a rabbit right into a van and I an not sure if she hit the van or the van hit her but it wasn't a good site when I rounded the corner.  Luckily she didn't have any broken bones but she had obvious head trauma.  Her right eye was ticking back and forth like a pendulum of a clock and her left eye was bulged.  She was flopping and trying to get up but couldn't.  The accident happened at 6pm on as Friday.  It happened on the road behind the clinic and my wife ran over there and Amy and Kris were getting into their cars to go home for the night but changed all plans to give immediate care to our girl.  They treated her, stabilized her and prepped her for us to drive to an animal hospital to get further care.  We are indebted to them for saving our fur baby.  They currently have a nail cut punch card where you pre-pay for 5 nail clips for $50 and you get a punch card.  I think that is a good deal.  The staff that they have at the front are not always the most helpful.  You can stand around waiting to be acknowledged for quite some time.  I don't think they are very friendly, the fewer words, the better I guess.  I still go there because I love and trust the vets here. I have had a few animals cared for by Farmington Vet for many many years. They have always gone above and beyond my expectations. Very knowledgeable of my pets when I call and need them the most. Especially during the sad times of putting the elders "down to rest". Awful service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took my sick cat there on 2/23/15. She was 14. We treated her with a conservative approach because of her age. When it became clear in the next couple weeks she wasn't getting better and needed to be put to sleep I called and got the information. They told me I could do an individual cremation or a group cremation where the ashes I would get back wouldn't be only hers, but with other animals as well. I was fine with that, I figured she was with other furry friends this way. I made the appt and took her in for euthanasia on 3/20 at 5pm. Her normal vet wasn't working then so someone else performed the procedure. I don't know who she was, if she was a vet, or what her name was. She was nice, but I'm still perplexed as to who she was as I don't see her picture on their website. I got a card in the mail, with a pawprint and my cats name. They spelled her name incorrectly. Her name was "poonjab', not 'punjab'. I called today to get her ashes and was told I don't get ANY!!!! I told the woman on the phone what I was told and she apologized for the miscommunication. So, for the cat I had for 14 years, my memento from the vet is a paw-print with a misspelled name and no ashes for the urn I bought for her!!!! I am livid and upset at their customer service and lack of empathy for such a mistake in communication! I am new to that area and had initially planned to transfer my two dogs' care there as well while I was researching vets in the area. This place was a total fail!!! I will continue to drive my dogs back to their original vet than trust this clinic with them, as well as my new cat.Read Less

Great! Friendly and easy to work with. Good:- I got to stay with my dog the whole time, which made me feel better about his treatment. - I had an appointment and didn't have to wait when I showed up. They were running right on time. - I didn't have a leash, and they had some hanging out that I could use. - I forgot to bring my dog's records even though it was my first time. They just called down to my old vet and got all the info. Once they put it in their computer, I was good to go. Nothing more needed from me, and it gives me updates on my receipt of when he's due for what. - The vet recognized that I was money-conscious and gave me suggestions accordingly. - The vet was friendly and offered lots if information. She even got scientific as she explained why I'd see certain things if my dog's eyes got infected, which made me feel like she respected me. I appreciated that. - The vaccine was prepped before we got in the examination room, speeding things up. - When the vet gave my dog his vaccine, she was quick and sneaky. He didn't even notice/flinched! - The vet listened to all my concerns patiently, working through them with me. - when I mentioned my concern about his duclaws curling into themselves, she pulled out the clippers and we clipped them. It was so quick and easy!Bad:- The vet had a really loud voice. But I definitely heard everything she said. :)Don't know how the prices compare since I don't go to the vet often, but it didn't break my bank to visit for a general check up. Our old clinic quoted $1000+ for a surgery on our dog. We thought that was ridiculous, so we went to Farmington Vet Clinic for another opinion. They were able to do the surgery for 1/3 the cost of our original quote! We found our vet home. Dr. Lorenz in particular is one of the best vets I have interacted with. I have never felt pressured to buy something we don't need, or to continue care on an animal that I'm not willing to pay for. The vets are patient and understanding, and flexible. I have my pick from a dozen vet's offices that are closer to where I live, and I am willing to drive 30 minutes one-way just for the service and prices we get at Farmington Vet Clinic. Read Less
