Several weeks ago, my girlfriend and I brought Cranberry to Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Services to treat her urinary tract infection. How did we know? Well, our pup left a gigantic and smelly wet-spot on our bed. (Gross, I know.) I'm sure that it occurred from all the, um, self-cleaning she does down there. The only other veterinary emergency clinic I've ever visited is the one at the University of Minnesota, so I didn't know what to expect there. Several things to know:-It's very small, but not too busy.-Wait is about 10-15 minutes.-Parking isn't crazy.-There's a TV, drinking fountain, and bathroom.-If you use GPS, there should be no problem getting there.-If your dog has a urinary infection, you will have to use a ladle to collect a urine sample. And let me tell you, it's awful.-Your dog will also have to drink lots of water beforehand.Regarding the actual visit with the technician and vet, overall, I would say that the staff members there were cordial, not friendly. I think that's fine, but it could be improved. About the vet, she thoroughly inspected our pup and asked numerous questions so she could best diagnose her. She also answered all of our questions without any eye rolling or huffs. At the end of the examination, she prescribed an antibiotic and offered several blood tests to see if Cranberry's internals were functioning properly. We asked for her to run a few of the blood tests, not all. *Note: They all cost different prices, so make sure to ask about the breakdown. Some ways that they could improve:-Smiling -- it's okay. They should try it more. I mean, I was freaked out of my mind, and I don't think they did anything to calm my nerves.-The vet alluded that we both smoked marijuana, and we both agreed that we didn't appreciate that assumption. We don't, BTW.-They should consider giving us informational materials on our way out. There's so much out there, and it would be helpful to read up on anything doggy-parent related from professionals. It's debatable whether or not I would choose this emergency room over the one at the U of M, so I think three stars is more than fair.Update: 11/11/15I forgot that they asked for me to catch all the pee in a ladle outside. Not sure how clean the ladle was. lol. Read Less
