***Apologies for the length, but context is important*** I went to VCA Golden Valley after having a horrible experience at Banfield in St. Louis Park. My newly adopted cat had an upper respiratory infection. When presented at Banfield I suggested a URI, but the veterinarian barely looked at my cat before they suggested a dozen preventative and exploratory tests to get to a diagnosis, to the tune of $960. I wanted a second opinion, so I called the veterinary office that was suggested in my Humane Society packet: the VCA. When I got into an exam room the tech we saw, Alli, was very personable and engaging and suggested that my cat looked like he had a severe URI. Dr. Sepulveda entered the room a few minutes later and confirmed such a diagnosis. They gave fluids, pain meds, and antibiotics and sent me home with some, too. The diagnosis was concise, direct, and as confident as one could ask for. Nothing about unnecessary tests, just a suggestion to return if the condition didn’t improve. Dr. Sepulveda also, very graciously, honored the 14-day period free exam and 30-day medication agreement they have with the Humane Society, even though I went to Banfield initially. This review is WAY overdue! I took my teacup yorkie here in November of 2014, she was just a year old and had jumped off the bed and hurt her paw. Come to find out she had a clean break. VCA was genuinely concerned about my fur baby and got me in right away. After exams were done they were able to schedule a specialist to come in to repair her leg in the next 2 days. Being only 3lbs, her bones were literally bird bones. The specialist had to put a plate in. All my follow up appointments were great as well. She healed fast and almost two years later now, she tears around the yard with my other yorkie like she never broke her leg. I expected some favoring or arthritis in her leg but nothing, she shows no signs that anything ever happened. Thanks VCA, I definitely trust you with my babies!Read Less

Great service and very respectful. When I brought in my elderly cat, they suggested that I do all these senior extensive tests, but knew that all those tests would only stress her out when she isn't doing so well already. They didn't force those tests on me like I've experienced at other pet hospitals and even printed out an estimate for those tests if I ever chose to bring her back. Read Less

I have been using them since 2002 and they have always been absolutely amazing! They treated my dogs like they were my children with a ton of love, patience when they were scared and when it was time to let them go Dr. Kokes was so kind and gentle. She has such a compassionate heart she gives you all the time you need to say goodbye and she explains the process in a way that you understand but in a very gentle and understanding way. I trust them completely with my all my animals! Dr. Kokes even takes such care in our Guinea pigs and talks directly to my daughters which makes them feel pretty important!
