Cosmo and I discovered Mendakota Animal Hospital last Fall and were so impressed we decided to change vets. We live in NE Minneapolis, but traveling to Mendakota is well worth the drive. My husband and I got our pet, a Golden Retriever named Finley, together a little over a year ago, and we've gone to Mendakota since day one. They're friendly, know us by name, and take incredible care of our boy. This week we got him groomed there for the first time and were incredibly pleased! This was the least expensive place we've ever taken him for grooming, she did an amazing job and they even let Finley stay there until we got off work. We've never had a bad experience here! I have been bringing my cats to Mendakota Animal Hospital for about 17-18 years. I was referred to Dr. Hinson's Vet practice via a former coworker that was a client of his. I truly have nothing but positive things to say! Dr. Hinson runs a tight ship: Everything is always clean and presentable. Appointment times are usually spot on, and when I have had to wait, it's usually less than 5 minutes. When I walk in, the staff knows me and are very courteous and friendly. It's a very professional and caring environment, where I know that my cats are getting the quality care that I want for them. I have a cat (Tiger) that is diabetic (diagnosed 3 years ago) and a cat (Pinkie) recently diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and their medical management has been wonderful!! Because of my work schedule, I am especially grateful that I can drop off (my cat(s) early in the morning and pick up before they close. I LOVE the Saturday hours......so appreciative of that!! With the addition of Dr. Barnes, this is a Vet Team that is "top of the line" with the multitude of professional services they offer and why I continue to bring my cats for their care. The staff is quick to answer my questions and my dogs are always happy and healthy when I pick them up from boarding after my annual vacation to Mexico. A friend told me to try this vet, that he was exceptional and really knew a lot about pets. They were right! I took a client's pet in and they were extremely helpful and patient with me as well as kind and thorough with the pet. Wasn't treated courteously by front desk staff. They seemed pretty stand-offish and I work in customer service so I have a feeling for what it should be like. The advice given by the vet was for one cup of food a day for a 70 pound extremely active dog. Staff would not do exam unless dogs prior vet info was faxed from previous owners vet, it was, but they said they never received record when I chose to go to another vet because I was unhappy with services and needed Mendakota to fax it to new vet. Their policy stated that vacc's were given in front of human companion yet they took my dog to a different room to give vaccines. Said dog needed to begin vacc's from square one because he only had first round of shots, I came to find out he actually had first round, booster, and just needed his last round and he was fine. They wanted to charge me extra for vaccs he already had. Finally, they were extremely overpriced. Neuter was around 350.00 whereas after research, most other vets were charging around 200.00 My advice do not take your animal to this vet. Service was below mediocre. Read Less
