I would not recommend this vet for large dogs. The previous vet (Dr Antenucci, now at Scenic Hills Vet in Stp) would pet my dog for a couple of minutes before starting the exam. The most recent vet was honestly afraid to touch my dog. On a previous visit (vet tech only) they put a muzzle on him immediately upon walking through the door and my dog did not like the muzzle, so he gets a "muzzle for all vaccinations" sticker on his chart. He has never even hinted at biting anyone. Dr Antenucci would sit on the floor and play with my dog, never any issues with vaccines. I wish they would just spend one minute to get to know my dog and put him (and themselves) at ease. Took my cat here, they are fine with cats. Read Less

Just wanted to say that Dr. Olson and all of the staff at this clinic are wonderful. Our dog, Ellery, received such good care and loved to come to "visit" the vet, because of how much they cared for him - and knowing that Cindy would give him love and a treat! OUTSTANDING I am grateful for ELAC!!! First time going there and had wonderful service that was prompt, considerate and no BS about the dog needed. I was shocked by the great price too, unreal. I have been to many vets working with foster dogs. I often feel judgment coming in with fosters who are not yet up to most people's dog standards. There was none of that here. Initially I'd had a good experience with East Lake, but when I brought my cat in most recently for constipation they'd noted his bladder was full. When I picked him up his bladder was still full and the vet tech I spoke to couldn't tell me if he'd urinated while he was there. She didn't seem to know much about his condition at all, and the only person who did was the vet who couldn't speak to me before I took my cat home because she was in another appointment. He ended up having a urethral blockage and I had to take him to an emergency vet only a few hours after they released him. When I called later to follow up and ask why they'd released him in the condition he was in and they gave me a "oops we're really sorry" which frankly doesn't cut it. Had they caught the blockage when I brought him in he would have been in significantly less pain, and I would have avoided a hefty emergency vet bill. I'm very disappointed in the negligence on East Lake's part and will never be bringing my cat back there again. Read Less

Been there twice now, both times I’ve shown up a bit early and been seen almost immediately. They just diagnosed my dog with heart worm, and were very clear in communicating about the treatment and finances upfront. Highly recommend! Read Less

We had great experiences here and truly wanted to continue to use them but I just had the rudest interaction with the staff on the phone. Yes, we made a mistake and a bill did not get paid. This was unknown to me until it went to collections. Whether it was an error with mail service or our oversight I am not sure and I am not making excuses. I understand that and was prepared to pay upfront at time of service due to the past mistake. The lady on the phone treated me with zero respect and would not even allow me to speak to explain or let them how we would pay upfront for any treatment. She totally dismissed me. I had to ask her if this treatment was due to the payment issue and told her I was aware of it. They are in our neighborhood and now we are not allowed to go there anymore. I am not a criminal. I am a human who made a mistake and was willing to deal with the consequences to be able to continue to receive care for my pets. Now I have to find a new vet. No frills, no surprises. This was the only place that gave me an honest estimate about pricing for a dental cleaning for my cat. Most offices will hem and haw and say, "well it depends..." A dental cleaning is expensive, and I needed to know how much to save up for it. East Lake gave me a straight and honest answer. They are never pushy, and I appreciate that they don't try to guilt me over my pets care. They give me options to choose from, and the prices for each treatment/service option. This is a quiet, neighborhood vet. My husband has always brought our cat in, but I brought him in for the first time. The front desk was friendly, and we didn't have to wait (which I was thankful for- our cat gets easily frightened by dogs). The assistant and vet were gentle and allowed me to help calm my cat while he was being checked out. It was just a urine analysis, and when I got the all-clear call, the vet went over the results and was thorough in things to look out for in the future. Thoroughly satisfied with my first visit! I chose this vet after several friends recommended them for their ability to talk openly about prices and to not be pushy with treatment options. I brought my cat here for the first time and was warmly welcomed and quickly seen.  We saw Dr. Olson and several vet techs.  Everyone was awesome.  I live in the neighborhood so I really wanted to find a place that was close.  This will be my regular vet from now on!!!!  The bill didn't break the bank and my cat is feeling loads better!  We Are so grateful to have such an amazing vet clinic so close by.  My only regret is not finding this neighborhood gem sooner!!! We brought our new 1 year old cat Leslie Knope in today for some tests and vaccinations. We had previously been to a different clinic which had us confused as to whether they were a vet or a used car dealership. At the other location we did not feel they cared about our cat and tried to upsell everything. At East Lake, Dr. Olson and the rest of the staff focused on Leslie's needs and our questions. I just wanted to let you know how Bean is doing in Ecuador. After all the paperwork and running around before I left Minneapolis, and filling out the paperwork on the flight to let them know I had a dog with me ( I could never reach immigration on the phone as directed), no one even glanced at her paperwork or looked in her carry on kennel. She is doing great here, happy and healthy. She is a people magnet, which helps with my Spanish. I cant walk a block with her without people stopping to pet her, or kiss her, or ask about her. She loves it here, we walk at least a mile a day. My biggest fear is that she will be kidnapped-no kidding-no one here has ever seen a sweet little dog like her. Someone offered me $1,000 for her today. Of course, I would not sell her for a million dollars. Ive found a new vet here, and he is great. After reading some reviews on Yelp for nearby vet clinics, I decided to go with the nearest one. East Lake Animal Clinic doesn't look like much from the outside and I was further perturbed when the woman taking my information and scheduling the appointment over the phone was condescending and a bit short with me. However, from the moment I walked in with my cats I was treated with respect and could tell my boys were in good hands. Everyone commented on how attractive my cats are, they were sweet and affectionate while simultaneously efficient at getting us through the appointment. Dr. Olson gave my cats a thorough examination, talked us through all of the possible causes of the things we were concerned about, and performed only the necessary tests to rule out serious health issues. He was even able to expedite the test results so we could address any problems while we were still there rather than having to return later if something was wrong. I can't really speak to pricing as the only other time I've been responsible for vet fees was an unfortunate trip to an emergency vet hospital on a Saturday afternoon when the regular clinics were closed...this was more affordable in comparison! I'm assuming the prices are pretty standard, though, and to know that your animals are being properly cared for is of course worth the pricetag. Read Less

My dogs love going to East Lake Animal Clinic. I think they would both just go home with Dr. Antenucci if I let them. Dr. Antenucci is calm and sweet.  The first time I brought one of my dogs to him  I was crying because I was certain I wouldn't be able to keep her because her separation anxiety was too much to handle. He gave me kleenex and calmed me down. He made phone calls to behavioral health vets and got me a prescription for my dog. I go here for regular check-ups for both dogs and the staff is always super helpful, explaining costs of services and treatments and not pushing stuff that isn't needed.  Recently my other dog got incredibly sick overnight. I called East Lake in the morning and they got us in immediately. My dog had to get surgery that day. They let me do all of the paper work and leave him there while I ran to work. They called me with updates and I was able to pick him up that night with prescriptions ready to go. That was a long review. The moral of the story is that East Lake Animal Clinic is my vet for life. This is by far the best vet we have seen in the twin cities. And since we moved away from that neighborhood we realized we really missed East Lake Vet. The staff is great, but I cant say I ever liked some of the vets we saw prior to Dr Dave... When we began to go there again after a brief hiatus, we realized the drive across town was worth it after having met Dr Antenucci. He is sincere, energetic and truly cares about his patients. He gives clear advice and explanation of issues and is great about following up whether its checking on progress or getting test results in a timely manner. Too, I am always confident when I leave that I paid a fair price for the services rendered and I never feel ""guilt pressured"" into extras that are seemingly unnecessary (like at Banfield - I would never recommend that place.) Took our dog here for the first time a week ago, met with Dr. Sally Dale, and she was great.  Even though the clinic was busy with all manner of fido and fluffy, she made us feel like a VIP.  First off, we had our vet records faxed from another clinic and when we arrived a tech said she knew us from our charts, apparently she and Dr. Dale had taken the time to go over our previous vet records to prepare for our appointment.  During our appointment she seemed actively interested in our dog and her issues.  She listened to each of her symptoms and seemed to really be trying to put together a diagnosis from what I told her, then she looked at her to confirm symptoms and to check out others.  I really appreciated that she both listened and looked to do a diagnosis.  Many vets would just get the dog on the table and go by that, I like that our observations of our pet were also considered.  Great bedside manner from her and the tech.  She also called a few days later after clinic hours to check in and then called again to update us on information she had researched about our dog's condition.  The lobby is small, but the tech staff was great about circulating people into empty rooms to keep sick dogs from getting nervous or cats from being mauled by over-eager dogs. They are closed on Sundays which is unusual. They sell Science Diet Prescription food, take credit cards but no checks, small parking lot attached to the building and the front door is close to both the street and lot open 7:30-6:00pm weekdays, 8:00-12:00pm Saturdays. We moved to Minneapolis from St. Paul about a year ago. In St. Paul we had a vet who was friendly, but we always felt like we were being overcharged and not receiving all the information needed to make decisions about our pet's care. Since moving to Minneapolis we have been going to the East Lake Animal Clinic, specifically to see Dr. Antenucci. The staff is ALWAYS friendly, whether on the telephone or in person. Dr. Antenucci is enthusiastic and he explains what he is doing thoroughly- and it always feels like the end decision is up to us. Even better, because of his knowledgeable but simple explanations we actually have enough information to make healthcare decisions for our dog. And while prices certainly aren't cheap, they feel reasonable. We love East Lake Animal Clinic and will continue going there as long as we live in the area! Read Less
