Dr. Schuld is the most fake and egotistical person you will ever meet. He sounds so friendly in the exam room, but as soon as he gets out you can hear him sigh and be rude to all of his coworkers. I do not want my pets to be seen by someone that cannot even care about the people that he works with! I assume all of the other veterinarians are great people, but I will not go back for that one man. Please fix your attitude, Dr. Schuld. I cannot imagine having to deal with you every day. Read Less

Friendly and knowledgeable staff who have always been nothing but kind and understanding about whatever issue should be the cause of our visit. I'm told that my cat, while vocal about his dislike for the location, is actually quite charmed by the techs, so that's gotta be another plus as he's an excellent judge of character. We were new to the clinic and was able to get an appointment for a 2nd opinion quickly. Day of our appointment, we were greeted warmly and was seen within minutes of our appointment. Our dog had the surgery, all went extremely well, we were called by the vet informing of us of how the procedure went and how our pup was doing, and the post op instructions were reviewed verbally and in writing. Also, we were seen within 2 hours when we called with a concern 4 days post surgery. We have received follow-up care calls. Very caring, organized, and professional care...with reasonable fees. We've brought our 2 cats here for a few years now.  They're extremely thorough and really care about your pets.  I've always felt like they actually remember my pets, impressive considering it's only about twice a year I bring them in.  I don't think they do much surgery here, I think they bring a Vet from the area in tondo certain procedures.  We were referred to the U of M for X rays and an ultrasound last year.  It was great that the U vets were in communication with Minnehaha Vets so I didn't have to try and re-explain anything.  I'd give the 5th star if they were a little more affordable.  And it feels like I'm being upsold on different care options some times, but hey, I've always felt good about the service they provide. Compassionate, knowledgeable vet and techs. I was very impressed with the knowledge level of the techs, including the specific details about vaccination recommendations and schedules. The facility is very clean and yet not sterile but comfortable... my brand new rescue dog was comfortable there. I got several behavioral and non medication recommendations helping my pet adjust to her new home. They also offered a free exam for a rescue animal which was a really nice time. I thought the prices were appropriate for the services provided. I'm overall very impressed. Read Less

We recently had to put our dog to sleep and Dr. Schuld was amazing as was his staff. Toni, the vet tech is wonderful with all of our pets and we have had good experiences here all but on one occasion where Dr. Stephani came off quite rude. These people work hard everyday to make our pets safe and healthy. I understand that their prices are a bit higher as they are a free standing clinic and not a Banfield or Bluecross. If you want the Walmart of Vets, go to Banfield where they don't seem to much care. If you want true care for your fur-babies and flowers and a lovely card on one of your hardest days, take them here. Read Less

In coming here, I honestly believe my dog recieves better health care than most humans. Dr. Tom Schuld is one of the kindest beings my family and I have ever met with. He is perfectly balanced in being both knowledgeable and loving toward his clients and their families. Top notch treatment plans yet not pushy. The staff is equally amazing. The staff here is not very helpful.  My dog developed a concerning black bump on its head.  I stopped in and they said "yes looks bad, but we have no openings".  I called back over the next several days to make an appointment, but several times I was forgotten on hold.  When I finally got through, they said they had nothing but I could go to their sister clinic.  I went there - no opening.  Last straw.  Tried to order pet medicine through a reputable on-line service.  Clinic called to say they would not send them the prescription.  I had to come pick it up and send it myself.  Goodbye unhelpful people. One of the best Animal Hospitals around, we recently moved from Washington DC to Minneapolis in October - we have a 4 year old beagle/lab mix and a 14 year old chow/Shepard mix.  Dr. Meloy is by far one of the best veterinarians we have ever seen.  Extremely transparent and willing to work with you to make a care plan best for you and your pet.  The front desk will always out a smile on your face and the technicians are best in class when it comes to nail trims! I live in Chicago, but over the holidays come home to stay with family. Over the years there have been numerous situations where I have been home and HAD to use Minnehaha Animal Hospital. In addition, my family has had to use the facility in times of crisis. They are consistent, consistently rude and as far as I can tell lack any sort of empathy. Every time I enter, I am hopeful that I will be greeted with a kind smile, or a seemly concerned receptionist. Every time I'm disappointed. I will not make the same mistake again. Read Less

I can't say enough about the care and staff at Minnehaha Animal Hospital! Our (adopted) puppy is really timid with new people, and everyone is so loving and caring for her. They definitely make her feel comfortable.When our pup was sick, they didn't have any availability that day (which isn't often the case - usually they work with you to find a time asap), so went over and above to help us get in touch with their sister clinic to get her in and checked. They assured me that they share Vets, so the care would be the same standard (and it was!). They always do a 'check in' call to make sure she's doing ok, and truly care for her well-being. We've been so pleased with how well-cared for she is, and the great work they've done when she's sick. Would recommend them time and time again to anyone! This clinic is great. Staff are friendly, our vet is thorough and knowledgable. They have an online portal that allows you to schedule appointments, and access your pets records. When our dog was first diagnosed with cancer they helped get us a consult with the U of M a veterinary oncologist, got us a quote for surgery promptly, and have taken great care of him whenever he goes in. I recently moved to the area and had been reading reviews to figure out what vet to take my dogs to but had not had a need to bring them in yet.  This weekend my new dog was throwing up and I did not know what to do.  I called another local vet and was told they didn't have time for me and I needed to go to the emergency vet instead.  I called here and they told me I could bring her in either in the next hour or later in the afternoon.  I brought her in yesterday and everyone was so nice from the minute we walked in the door.  The vet even helped remove some of her stitches that never dissolved from her spay.  They were very helpful and kind and I will defiantly be bringing this dog and my other back.  This was the best vet experience I've ever had.  They even called today to check on how she was doing! We found a stray cat in pretty critical condition,  not knowing the sex or what could be done for her we brought her in as soon as we could. The staff was incredibly sweet and professional. They gave us the rundown on options for her. Turns out she was geriatric and close to death. They handled the euthanasia very well and with sincerity and kindness. It's good to know there is a clinic out there with a staff as caring for the clients as well as the animals. I bring my cat and dog here and have always been happy, but after this experience I am even more loyal. Last winter we adopted a dog, and we couldn't decide what vet office to utilize. One day, we had to make a quick decision after our dog attained a cut on her foot that required stitches. I walked into MAH asking if there was anyway they could help a non-established client and her bleeding dog. The front desk staff was fantastic, and worked their finagling skills so my dog could be seen. They took wonderful care of my dog, and all staff are very genuine in their love of animals. The level of customer service was above and beyond. We wouldn't dream of going anywhere else for our dog's healthcare needs! Read Less

We started taking our two cats and dog to Minnehaha Animal Hospital after we moved to south Minneapolis in November 2012. We've had nothing but positive experiences with this vet clinic. The vets, techs and staff have all been caring and nice. Our dog is nervous about visiting the vet, and they recommended a class for fearful dogs and encouraged us to bring her in to visit when we don't have an appointment so that she can get treats and feel good about the clinic. They understand that they are treating people as much as their pets and always talk over options and explain their recommendations so that we can make good decisions about our pets' healthcare. I've appreciated this as I have a cat with arthritis and a dog with a very sensitive stomach.Whenever I've made an appointment, they've gotten us into an exam room within a few minutes of our scheduled time. Because of our dog's sensitive stomach, we have had several vet visits in the past few months and I've felt comfortable calling to ask whether I should monitor her or bring her in. On occasion, we need to see if we can get a pet in ASAP and they have recommended taking our cat or dog straight to an emergency clinic if it's serious or they get us an appointment as soon as one is available. I have had a few very good experiences and several average at best.  Dr. Schuld is one vet who is incredibly caring and knowledgeable and has a general love for all animals.  His colleagues are another story, the other vets are very lukewarm and more concerned with turnover than the pets well being and overall health.  Scheduling management is very poorly done.  I have never had to wait less than 30 minutes for appointments and once even waited more than 1 1/2 hour. They were moderately apologetic as they were "really busy" that day.  I completely understand emergencies arise and this can throw off schedules but good offices will let people know and offer to reschedule.  I would have left but my dog needed to be seen.  This shows a complete lack of respect for pet owners and their time.  There were two occasions were my pet needed to seen in an emergency and they refused as they were booked and one instance was life threatening.  It appears they only take certain emergencies.The reason we left - On our last visit we were running late, called to let them know and arrived within the time we said.  Once we arrived we were checked in, waited a few minutes and were then told, we have another appointment coming in, who was not there, and we would not be seen as they were short staffed.  Now there is nothing wrong with not waiting to see an appointment that was late, but there were multiple opportunities to reschedule, when we called or checked in but they chose none of these.  Considering I get very inconsistent care here and this poor customer service we received, we have chosen to go else where.  I don't recommend Minnehaha unless you have unlimited free time and wish to pay top dollar for inconsistent care. I LOVE this place! I was really impressed after my kitten's first feline leukemia vaccination, they called me the very next day to see how my Geoff was doing and checking to see if he was eating normally, change in his demeanor, etc. I felt that was going above and beyond and I will continue to go to attend MAH for my pet's needs. Im really glad I tried this place out, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. One of the vet techs took the time to explain all of the details of the medication to me because I was concerned about administering it correctly and what would happen if I missed a dose. When the vet called with test results she explained everything throughly and what I would need to consider in the future. Basically they understand we all arent experts and deliver the information patiently and in a way that you can understand. I especially appreciated being able to leave my dog there for testing during the day for a relatively small fee. Im sure she was nervous but she came back happier than I expected and I didnt have to get a urine sample myself. Read Less

If there were a higher rating available or gold stars instead, this place clearly deserves it.We had been taking our beloved dog to MAH since we adopted her 3 years ago.  They watched her blossom from a timid, abused senior rescue dog to one who smiled from ear to ear and whose tail had a mind of it's own. Long story, short...after trying various medications, extensive rest, numerous visits for consultation, life just wasn't enjoyable for our old girl and she deserved better.Though we may part with a pet once every 10 to 15 years, it is undoubtedly a daily occurrence or MAH.  And yet, they treated our loss like it was their own.  The entire staff demonstrated unbelievable empathy and certainly helped healing during a difficult situation.Here's what I like best about MAH:1.  Dr. Tom Shuld- Phenomonal bedside manner, knowledgeable, engaging, caring.  Several times during a number of weekends I saw an 'unknown number' up on my phone.  It was Dr. Tom checking in on our girl.2.  Responsiveness of staff-They always tried to fit me in ASAP.  If Dr. Tom wasn't around a certain day, they made sure another vet called me within a half hour.3.  Great communication-With me and with each other.I don't know if their pricing is higher than other places.  What I do know is that they hit the ball out of the park when it comes to building trust with customers and developing relationships with their pets.
