I called them very concerned/upset about our baby boy. They were already booked our for the day but said if I didn't mind waiting they would see me when they could so I did and even though I didn't have to wait very long for being snuck in like that they checked on me multiple times to see if we needed anything and then even though they were closed for the day they really took their time to make sure our baby boy was okay and they even called the next morning to check on him this is a very very good place everyone is wonderful and helpful I even told the bed he made by it he has bitten before but he wasn't afraid to handle him at all and he made him feel really comfortable without having a muzzle on even. Mounds View Animal Hospital is more than just a hospital; they truly care. They have taken care of my animals for many years. We've had some difficult times and they were kind and compassionate during those times. This is more than just a job to everyone on the staff, they genuinely care about our furry loved ones. Really nice and clean facility. Staff was very friendly and great with Chunk who had a puppy cold. I notice that many people complained about cost but it was very comparable to most vets. I did not think the price was bad. Sure you could shop around but then you service will probably be less positive. They were very thorough and very nice definitely will be back! Read Less

I have been taking my pets here since I bought my first dog in 2000. They were amazing through everything with my first dog. When she died, it took me quite a while to consider another one. However, when be brought Chloe into our family, there was never a question about where we would go. I am so unbelievably pleased and impressed with Mounds View Animal Hospital- everyone there is fantastic, I really can't say enough! I did a whole bunch of research on vet clinics in the twin cities area when we first brought our adopted 7 month old pit mix puppy Sylvie home. The Humane Society had given us a list of a ton of places that would do a totally complimentary full health check within a month after adopting. Mounds View Animal Hospital was on the list, and after a bunch of checking around and reading of reviews, and then speaking to the people in the office, I felt confident in bringing my dog in for a check up.The people at the front desk were SO nice, and very quick to get us taken care of right away both checking in, and out. The office/ waiting area is very clean and smells fresh, and has some nice displays of products they offer. The vet tech who got all of Sylvie's vitals was so sweet, great with our dog (who is fairly skittish) and was very accommodating to the fact that I had my 4 year old daughter with us, and made sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable. She also made sure that we had all of the information from the vet and that we understood everything we were told.We then saw Dr. Femrite and she was absolutely wonderful- (our wait time was very short which was fantastic right to start!) she had lots of great information and was extremely thorough in checking out my pup, who we had gotten in a malnourished, poorly cared for, very timid state. She gave me a lot of resources for improving Sylvie's health and state of mind, and was all around very pleasant and helpful. That was all about 8 months ago. This week, my sweet (now fully healthy, happy, highly enthusiastic) dog fell off of our couch while playing and hurt her leg. She began limping sporadically throughout the day, but I couldn't find anything obviously wrong and decided to give her a day or so to see if it would resolve itself... which it did not, in fact it became significantly worse by the next night. I called right away the next day and they were able to get us in ASAP to see Dr. Barcus, who fit her in to his schedule at the last minute. He was fantastic! He took his time and asked a lot of questions to figure out what had been happening, explained what was going on, made sure we understood everything, and what he figured the best course of action was to take at this point. He also asked (even though this was an emergency visit) if we had any other concerns with her in general at this time. Very thorough! *I'd also like to note that we had the same vet tech (who remembered us even though we had only been in one other time) and she was great, yet again. She brought in a bowl of water and a soft blanket for Sylvie, and then asked me if I would like water/ pop/ coffee/ iced coffee, and did i want cream or sugar!?Overall we have now had two exceptionally great visits, even though the one was on an emergent level... I would HIGHLY recommend bringing pets to Mounds View Animal Hospital to anyone- I have had all kinds of animals for over 25 years, with dogs my entire life, and this has by far been the best place I have ever taken any of my animals! They've got my family as clients for life!The service and personable experience you receive is GREAT, the cost on everything seems pretty reasonable/ average to me, which is nice, and the location isn't hard to find at all, and I say that considering that they are located about a 20 min drive from my home in NE. It's amazing to have a vet that can make every experience a positive one - even the toughest. I was far more anxious about Lakota's surgery than he was, from start to finish. Lakota felt comfortable with everyone here and it was wonderful to know I was leaving him in capable hands. Bringing him home after surgery, it was as if he'd been to the dog park, not the doctor. Moundsview Animal Hosptal imo is one of the best veterinary hospitals in the area. The people that work there truly love animals. They were very caring through our final days with our 14 year old cat that had cancer. After he passed we received flowers and a card from them, which I feel goes above and beyond. I'm beyond impressed with this vet! I just moved to Mounds View a month ago and my dog came down with a nasty yeast ear infection this weekend. I called Monday morning to see if they could get her in ASAP, and they were able to get her in within an hour of my calling! That was impressive, but even more impressive was the clinic itself. As a pregnant mom with a busy 1 year old in tow, I was thrilled to find that this is office is SUPER kid friendly. They had lots of toys for my toddler to play with, everyone was very patient with her, and they even offered her juice and got us right into a room so I wouldn't have to chase her around while filling out paperwork.We promptly saw Dr. Bruce Schnabel. He was very patient and gentle with my pup, who was in a lot of pain from her ear. He was also very accommodating to my daughter, taking time to chat with her letting her play with some of the bone models in the room and his stethoscope while he worked on the dog. We were in and out in about an hour, and my dog had a full exam, ears swabbed, nails trimmed, vaccines updated, and heart worm test. Dr. Bruce took plenty of time to explain everything to me, including costs, and wasn't pushy at all about other procedures that she's due for, knowing that they weren't in the budget this time. I've been a pet owner for over 5 years and this was by far the best vet experience I have had to date. I was very comfortable here and will continue to see this vet while we are living in MN! Even though I live in New Hope it's worth the drive for me to keep coming back to Mounds View. These people really care about your pets, they also realize that vet care is expensive and work to find the most cost efficient solution to your pets medical issues. I have 3 cats that I have taken to MVAH, 2 of which we have adopted from them. Both were dropped off at the door and they took them in. One needed surgery which went well and she healed perfectly! We have also had to put one of our cats down there. I couldn't have been more comfortable and confident in the doctors! The staff is always friendly and genuinely cares for our pets. We live in Mounds View, so it makes sense to go to Mounds View Animal Hospital since it's right in town. Regardless, we have been very happy taking our small zoo to visit them for everything they need. We have two cats and we adopted a senior dog from the Humane Society at the beginning of 2014. We have had to take Rupert, our 11-year-old Boston Terrier, to them pretty regularly between vaccinations, dental work, and boarding for when we have been out of town for a week. Given our regular visits to Mounds View Animal Hospital, I feel like I am accurately able to comment on a lot of their services. The front desk staff is always helpful and we can always get an appointment quickly. We have had to see them several times for blood work and other post-surgery issues, and the vets have always been extremely helpful and understanding. I am a crazy pet Mom, and when we boarded Rupert, they were very understanding in letting me see the kennels and the space in which he would be staying. They also took my daily phone calls checking in on him! :) When we picked him up, they gave us a report card about his behavior and a picture of him during his playtime outside. I have to literally drag my dog in here, but that's just because she's a smart chicken... I have used this vet for over 10 years through the end of my cat's life and since the beginning of my dog's.  Dr. Schnabel is kind and thorough.  He doesn't pressure/guilt you into spending money on extra tests when your pet is sick.  He lets you know all the options and then make the decision yourself.    The vet techs and desk staff are all friendly.  The waiting room is large with magazines, a fish tank, and some toys for little kids to play with.  They also sell many types of dog or cat food along with some other accessories. All the veterinarians are tops and have been responsible for keeping all of my longevity challenged dogs alive a *long* time. My 14 year old dog (Border Collie / Golden Retriever mix) is still going strong thanks to Mounds View.I am not sure how they compare price wise but I would venture a guess to average to above average? As the staff is all above average if in fact there is a premium I gladly pay it.My main vet is Dr. Barkus (appropriate and real name) who is a vet and son of a vet. He has a genuine love and concern for animals that is matched only by his skill as doctor and surgeon.I can't recommend Mounds View Animal Hospital - the absolute best animal hospital in the Twin Cities.
