Went in to spay a female shorkie. Fyi, they are an upsell vet. Im okay with that though, I want the best. Last week she had her surgery. It seemed like it went well. Immediately (as they handed her to me) I noticed a large bulge around the incision area. I am not a vet. I google stuff and pretend to know stuff, but I trust the experts. I called the day after and the following day. They said its normal. It wasnt red or bleeding. "Keep an eye on it" they said. "If its red or bleeding, or she acts abnormally, come in". This was the answer I kept receiving after being on hold multiple times after multiple calls so the front desk people could ask someone else. (I am not mad at them, not their fault). Today I brought my tiny Shorkie in and she had a hernia surgery, because the sutures on the inside did not hold. What is most upsetting is that they blamed me because I was honest about telling them that she didnt want to keep her cone on. The bulge was there in the first place and I was too stupid and naive to say something. Now my pup is in terrible pain again. Not to mention this whole thing cost me $1500. Oh and the $200 "irregular heartrate EKG test" was negative, so theres that. Ugh Read Less

TOTAL RIP-OFF!!! They quoted us around $700 (high-end) for our cat's dental work (a cleaning and possible extractions), and $1300 later, we had her back out the door. They took almost 30 minutes to check our pet in, and had us wait for over an extra hour when we picked her up. The receptionist also forgot to subtract the 10% discount from our total bill (which was later corrected after I brought it up), and the office manager offered no credits or compensation for any of this. Also, our pet had been in for a life-threatening condition earlier in the year, and they never called to check-in on her afterwards. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! Read Less

The staff is friendly and caring. For 3 years in a row, they have helped me and our shih tzu, Roxy, by completing the required health certificate to allow us to import her to Hawaii. I would give Dr. Douglas 5 stars for being caring and personable to our dogs. She has helped us with some severe anxiety in one dog and skin problems with the other. However, when she is out of the country the "fill in" vets are frustrating to work with because they don't really know your pet. Also, I wouldn't recommend their groomer. I had her groom our large dog twice and the second time she was finished in an hour! You can't tell me she did a thorough job in that time. I think she is afraid of large dogs like ours. He is a gentle giant!! And because it was over so quickly, they put him in a kennel to wait for me. Let me tell you, he was one very unhappy dog!!!! Prior to that he loved going to the vet or groomer and now he gets nervous every time. We don't kennel him - he is very tall and a very good boy. They assured me he "fit" in the kennel fine, but he didn't care for it one bit! Still, I trust Dr. D's care and expertise, so my review is 4 stars.Read Less

I have had a HORRIBLE experience bringing my cat here. I feel completely ripped off. I feel this vet is only in it for the money and does not really care about my pet. I don't feel like I am being helped to get the most cost effective option and they are charging me unnecessarily for things. For example, after spending over $500 just to find out my cat has pancreatitis they wanted a urine sample as well. I got the urine sample, spent another $50 for them to test it, and then they call and tell me that yes he has an infection too, but that's okay because we already gave him an antibiotic shot when he came in. THEN WHY DID I EVEN NEED TO SPEND $50 FOR THE URINE TEST?? I literally just payed them $50 for them to tell me he has an infection. This is only one of the examples, I feel so violated! Update: Still very happy here. They helped my cat live to age 19 despite his diabetes. The compassion they showed at the news of his passing was really touching. Shortly thereafter, we ended up (unplanned) taking in a new kitten who needed a home, so he is Dr. Douglas' newest patient. He came home from his neutering almost acting like nothing happened. Rude vet! Incompetent staff. I would never suggest for anyone to ever go here! The manager is nice, but the staff is completely clueless on what to do. When called about a concern about my pet the vet that I spoke to was rude, unfriendly, and the notes that the vet wrote down about our conversation were completely inaccurate! When we also had brought our pets in they were not the friendliest with our cat or did not know how to properly do an exam on our new puppy. DO NOT GO HERE EVER!! It is also very expensive and you do not get what your money pays for here. What you pay for is a staff with no knowledge on how to treat pets. DO NOT TRUST DR. I honestly couldn't ask for a more compassionate and caring veterinarian than Dr. Douglas. My cat, Gary, is now 3 and got a small immune disorder from being fostered with many other cats at a young age. I adopted him at a year old and I've been taking him to Douglas animal hospital ever since (I have family in MN and stay there part of the year). He needs special medicine and regular checkups to make sure he is healthy, since his immune system is lowered, and I never have issues making appointments or with waiting time at the office. I really like the new hospital that they have now compared to the smaller one before. I liked the old clinic they had, but it was a little small for all the pets in there. I'm glad that the staff, especially Melissa, are always so helpful! Whenever I call asking about different cat foods or any other cat issues, they always respond quickly and never rush me. My cat is also my registered therapy cat and is very special to me. Douglas Animal Hospital always goes above and beyond for Gary, and that really speaks volumes to me. Had our Goldendoodle groomed there and the cut was extremely uneven, toes trimmed too short, and hair on his head was shaved in some places and not in others. I was even able to fix a little bit of a huge part that was missed myself. His face also still looked dirty. Vet is good but I would not recommend the groomers there! Asked for a refund and was denied even though I was told I would get one. I'm not one to complain but it's a very noticeably bad haircut! Read Less

I will never go back here! If there was a negative 1 star that's what I would have picked. I have spent thousands of dollars over the past 6 months at this clinic. I have been told by other clinics that I have been taken advantage of. Just like we trust mechanics, we should be able to trust vets as well. You are not paying for the care of your animals you are paying for all the fancy new things they have! My 1 year old pet almost died getting his teeth cleaned, and I got stuck with a $1,000 bill! And they didn't even do the extractions they were supposed to do! I am a responsible pet owner that will pay to keep my animals healthy, and this clinic is taking advantage of that! Read Less
