Banfield Pet Hospital

Plymouth, Minnesota
General Info
Banfield Pet Hospital is well-respected within the local pet community for its meticulous and comprehensive approach to animal wellness. Banfield Pet Hospital works out of Plymouth to help Minnesota pet owners keep their pets healthy while keeping track of their conditions and adjusting care needs. Initial consultations typically begin with thorough wellness evaluations, lifestyle assessments, and checks of recent behavioral changes. Vaccinations, flea and tick prevention, and microchipping are often performed at the same time. The team monitors initial signs of illness or distress by observing the animal’s energy and weight, as well as its skin and movement. Banfield Pet Hospital can solve several problems, such as joint stiffness, digestive sensitivity, allergy reactions, and movement. Diagnostic tools may include in-house lab work such as fecal tests and blood panels. Veterinarians develop treatment plans that prescribe medications, modify diet and lifestyle, and provide home care instructions. The clinic offers help with dental care and spay/neuter consultations, as well as continuous support for chronic and age-related issues. Pet owners respect the clear communication they receive regarding the scheduling and expected outcome aspects of every decision implemented for long-term care plans. It functions with precision and enables families to access follow-up care or transfer records when required. We adjust our Banfield Pet Hospital advice to fit each household’s resources and routines so that Plymouth families can implement it. Pet owners start with simple action plans and a knowledgeable team that understands how Minnesota’s climate and seasons impact their pets’ health. The practice provides various services such as an in-house pharmacy, livestock/farm animal care, wellness exams, diagnostics, and bloodwork. They support pets in all stages of their lives, from routine wellness checkups to advanced medical care. Pet owners praise the team’s professionalism, empathy, and clarity when explaining medical choices. The staff wants to build relationships with the pet owners through consistency and care, whether it is senior pet care or urgent health matters. The clinic also plays a pivotal role in educating pet owners and implementing preventive health strategies. Banfield Pet Hospital’s community engagement activities help to build the basis for responsible pet ownership. New and returning clients frequently praise the hospital for its professional approach, which is always up to date with modern trends.

Been a part of the wellness plan for almost three years now since my family first adopted our dog and will periodically bring in one of our cats (who is not on the wellness plan because she attends a different vet specializing in cats). The staff is always polite and happy to see our pens. The staff is enthusiastic about what they do and will go out of their way to have a conversation with you. It may be a little spendy, but I believe you get your money's worth, especially for our little fur balls. Read Less

We have been going to the Plymouth Banfield for over 18 years. They took great care of our cat and three dogs we've owned during this time. Our newest dog, now 14 months old, has been well cared for. To make her feel more comfortable, the doctor sat on the floor to examine my dog, rather than making her get up on the exam table. The staff is genuinely caring. The reception area and exam rooms are always clean. The staff in the PetSmart store are also very friendly and caring. We just completed the advanced obedience training, which I recommend to any new dog owner. Read Less

My dog came in not feeling herself. Told to get a blood test and come to find her calcium levels were sky high. I was told it was a possible machine malfunction and then told me to confirm they would have to do a different test to confirm. A few of my friends are vet techs and told me if they get any reading that's abnormal they run it twice to confirm, banfield told me they ran it once and wanted another test. Seems like a money grab, if I'm paying $140 for a blood test I'd like to know the test is correct. Not charge me for another test on a possible error. Wasn't impressed with the staff or experience . I bought a yearly wellness plan here. After I bought the plan, they referred my to the U of M for a echocardiogram. When we got to the U of M, the vet said his heart murmur was innocent. (Something a vet should be able to tell by listening). He did not need a ECG. They diagnosed him with COPD just by looking at him. They gave him an xray to confirm. All of this should have been caught by Banfield. that was an extra $465.00 that I should not have had to spend at a different vet clinic. Please read the reviews, they are true! I wish I had. I took my very sick cat there on a Sunday because they were the closest and open. I was told I could drop off my cat to be seen. All was fine and dandy. The bill was outrageous 400+ for antibiotic, probiotic and blood work. To top it all off the vet told me not to feed my sick cat (that would not eat anything with diarrhea) anything but the food they prescribe not even treats. That's a joke, when should would not eat to begin with. 70 dollars for dry and 13 for a can of wet. They could careless I felt and only wanted my $$$. Another thing to mention is I found out they didn't even do a stool sample and the reason they gave me was because "there was not enough poo" seems sketchy to me but I'm not a vet. Honestly, my cats Breeder along with cat enthusiasts giving advice through social media were more helpful nursing my cat back to health then this place. I brought my cat in today for an appointment at 4:00. The receptionist said that my appointment was actually at 4:30. This was news to me since I had called a few hours prior to the appointment to make sure the correct time was 4. The receptionist was polite but 100% unapologetic for the mix up and was unwilling/unable to see my pet at the time I had scheduled, even though I had a very nervous pet. The only options I was given were to wait or schedule another appointment. The waiting room is very loud with barking dogs and loud noises which was not ideal for my nervous pet.
