Very rude receptionist that I spoke to. I made an appointment and was told that my appointment was scheduled. Called back to check on time and ask if I needed to bring anything to make sure my cats had everything they needed while they were there. The receptionist spoke to me in a very disgusting demeanor. Went on to tell me my appointment was never scheduled and that the day I wanted was now booked.... Mind you, we were already booked a month out.... I definitely cancelled my appointment and WILL NOT EVER BE GOING TO THIS PLACE. If they are going to speak to people that way I can't imagine how they would treat my kittens. Never went to the place and just a phone called turned me away. Pathetic. Read Less

This is a great place to board cats since it is cat-centric (it only caters to cats)! The clinic is clean and has no detectable odor. The staff is absolutely amazing and you can tell they truly care about what they do! One perk of boarding your cat here is that there's an on-site vet if anything comes up. The multi-level "cat condos" is are spacious and have windows so the cats can see out and watch the fish and the people in the office, yet they are private enough that they are still quiet for the cats. You are also allowed to bring in toys and small reminders of home to put in your cats condo. The price is a bit on the high side, but if you want peace of mind while you're gone then look no further! These women (& 2 men!) have such great love, empathy & compassion for the cats that they treat -- as well as the humans who are owned by them. Non-specialist vets (vets who see every dog, bird & hairy thing off the street) don't have the same depth of knowledge, skill, or awareness of natural behavior for these interesting animals & miss things or diagnose based only on tests vs on appearance, intuition, knowledge, and tests (doctors of humans use all of THEIR senses; shouldn't the doctor of the most beloved family member do the same?!?) If the curing of your sweetheart may need an expensive procedure, they will give you a firm idea of costs: tests, x-rays, surgery, anesthesia, pain control, etc. And if the owned-human is disabled or elderly, they will assist in finding ways for you to best home treat (give the daily meds) so that you aren't getting injured & nor is sweetie (does no good if you break your hip giving the cat her meds, only to not be able to do ANYTHING for 4 months)! Go to these great men & women. Your kitty will complain the whole way there, but on the way home, you will here an occasional "thank you for caring for me so well, Mom!" Or "thanks, Dad, for taking me to the folks with warm, small hands this time!!" Read Less

The City Cat Clinic has been a wonderful experience. Dr. Steffen Runquist and her staff are caring, compassionate, and optimistic. I began going to this clinic in the fall of 2016, after becoming frustrated with my previous clinic's lack of empathy. Dr. Runquist and her staff called me frequently to check in on my cat, always genuine and truly interested in his condition. Unfortunately, Silas had small-cell lymphoma and has recently passed on. I am so grateful to have discovered the City Cat Clinic. My cat's life was definitely extended because of the care we received. I also appreciated the quiet and relaxed atmosphere. It was so nice not to have barking dogs. I highly recommend this clinic. Thank You! Read Less

So not sure exactly how to rate this bc it is a love/hate kind of thing. We boarded our cat there, everything went great. Clean, nice environment for your cat. The ladies are friendly and it is overall a nice place. I will be using there service again for sure. After using there boarding service we decided to try them as a vet for our cat as we were not happy about our previous vet. And it wasn't a good experience. I will say first off the assistant that helps the vet was awesome! Very friendly, good with cats. The vet was the problem, idk if she was scared of our cat? Our 4 month old cat lol. I said "I don't mind helping her out holding him, he usually calm when I hold him". "She says no he's gonna bite you, I don't want that. If you let him bite you at home that's your business". Um what, lol? Super weird comment to drop? So back to her not touching him, or trying to do anything besides tell us she couldn't do her check up and we need to drug him next time we bring him in? I can understand drugging the cat sometimes for sure, they're cats I get it. Our cat is nothing but loving at home and with our friends when they come over. Even kids as I have nieces and nephews. He does get a little weird when we bring him to the vet, but nothing a regular cat doesn't do. Anyways point of the story is we went in for a check up and some information. We were concerned with our cats eyes, they are shadowy. We left with the same information we knew. His eyes are cloudy and someone should check him out......... Oh and still got the bill for $75, for them not doing or telling us anything that we didn't already know. I mean she literally said "I can't do my inspection, and I don't want to ruin future check ups for your cat" then don't give me a $75 bill for nothing! My biggest beef! So like I said great place besides this one vet, and the billing issue. For a place that even charges $75 instead of $50 like most places for a check up. I personally didn't see a $25 difference. This place is the best. Top notch environment / vets / staff. Dr. Asher took all the time in the world with me to explain Nikki's options. Then when he suddenly died 36 hours after Prince (named after a Prince song ), Dr. Runquist took my tearful phone call and patiently walked me through everything (She had seen Nikki in the past) as she consoled me. I will not be returning. Short version: They failed to follow up with an appointment as they promised to do and expect me to pay for their mistake & they were late starting my appointment and rushed me through to make up for it. While the staff was friendly and the clinic itself was clean, I am astounded by the unprofessional lack of record keeping in this office and I'm not convinced the vets are as thorough as other vets I have taken pets to in the past. I took my kitten in for his first exam and round of shots and was told he would need a booster in 6 weeks for his Feline Leukemia vaccine. At the end of the appointment I went to the front desk to schedule the appointment but was told they would call me to set up an appointment in a few weeks. I didn't question this as it made sense to me that setting an appointment that far in the future may be difficult. I waited for a call that ultimately never came. After 6 and a half weeks, I called the office myself to check in to see if I remembered correctly that my pet still needed another appointment. It turns out that nobody ever set up an alert to follow up with me for a second appointment and that the second shot needed to be given WITHIN 6 weeks or else the series had to be restarted. This means that not only will I need to put my cat through another unnecessary shot and take off more work (since this clinic does not have convenient hours for people with normal work schedules), I also have to pay for the vaccine and office time THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR ONCE BEFORE. When I requested that I receive this re-do shot for free as it was their mistake and not mine that caused the first one to become useless, they said they'd allow me to skip the vet exam cost that they usually charge for new kitten appointments but I'd still pay for the tech exam and the vaccine. Finally, I choose not to return because despite the fact that this clinic is more expensive than others in the area, I felt like I was rushed through the appointment since it was near the end of the day and they started my appointment 10 minutes late. Normally, I would have overlooked this, but in conjunction with the fact that they think it is acceptable to force their customers to pay for their mistakes I would not recommend this place to friends or family. We had to get our cat's front claws removed due to the lease agreement in our home. We took her to City Cat Clinic and they did a great job. They do laser declawing which is more expensive (about $500 for us) but from where we sit, completely worth it. She stayed with them for two nights and we didn't have to give her any more pain medication after we brought her home. That was three weeks ago, her scabs are almost completely gone, and she's doing just fine. Read Less

I love City Cat Clinic & Condos. I brought my cat here for her first check up, complimentary through adoption from the Humane Society. The office itself feels very high end and relaxing. They provide excellent customer service both in person and over the phone. The doctors and assistants are great with my cat and I am amazed at how well they work with her (she is pretty feisty). We used to have two cats, which we boarded for a weekend once and had a great experience. They even gave us a report card, a follow up call to make sure they were adjusting to being back home ok, and were happy to answer my call when I wanted to check in on the cats while we were gone. We have been seeing Dr Asher primarily and she has been absolutely fantastic. She diagnosed our cat that passed away, she was very compassionate and helped us to explore all treatment routes. You can tell that she truly loves cats, just like all of the other employees. I really appreciate the excellent customer service, they always call to follow up in the days following any appointment, big or small. I don't plan on ever going anywhere else. Read Less

I boarded my cat earlier this year and the experience was not very good. I'll explain all, to be fair.My cat is old and has lived at home his whole life with our dog and hasn't been boarded since he was much younger. But his personality is extremely friendly with anyone who comes to our home. I assumed it would work out fine tho it had been a long time since he'd been boarded. I will admit now I should have done a 'test run'.We were also on vacation for a week and last minute needed boarding, so I looked for places to board. Tho my cat had never been to this clinic, I liked City Cat because they were a vet clinic as well just in case. And they got great reviews. At drop off, the technician said if there were any problems, they had spaces in the back room, away from the condos, where they could bring him and get settled as well. After taking down all of my information including emergency contact, we left. After no contact for a week, assuming all went great, I went to pick him up. The first sign of trouble was they asked me to come take him from the condo. They had covered the condo door with a blanket and labeled with a 'caution' note. He apparently freaked out, not used to other cats who he could see/hear elsewhere in the condo area, and sat the entire time in his litter box and would try to bite anyone who touched him. (Note he is totally declawed.) He also ate little. He did jump back from me when approached but once he realized it was me he immediately snapped out of it. So again I know part of this was my cat's reaction due to being in a new place and being freaked out, but the most concerning part was there was no call or follow up to either me or my emergency contact, as my contact could have taken him home under such circumstances. They also did not 'move him' as they offered as a backup plan when I dropped him off. Being a clinic I would assume they would know how to at least 'handle' him to a back room, or again communicate with us, as opposed to having him sit scared and cowering in his litter box for a full week which isn't healthy. This was my experience so I strongly recommend anyone in a similar situation as mine to do a test run for a night ahead of time or cover these concerns in detail. If there are any issues I'd recommend going elsewhere. Read Less

The doctor desperately wanted to kill my cat as it was close to closing time. They even went into picking out urns and the lethal injection process while giving the hard sell. They really really really really pressured me to kill him. They would only release my cat dead or to a 24 hour emergency hospital.I took my alive cat to the real hospital and they quickly and simply got him stable, he lived for about A YEAR after getting pressured to be killed by cat city. The real hospital used this amazing new drug called Valium to stabilize him. Shocking that cat city does not know about this.My cat ultimately died in his sleep in his favorite basket due to old age (he was over 21 years old). Isn't that a much better way to die then getting lethal injection by a hurried Doctor like he is some serial killer? My cat (and yours), deserves a much better fate then what cat city was pressuring me to do.They can keep the money they eagerly took from me, I'd rather have my cat alive then money. However, they should close their cute little doors and never practice medical again.I don't know if the doctor is just incompetent or wanted to go home. The immense pressure they put on me to kill my cat made a bad situation even worse. I can't describe the pain, sadness and misery this awful place put me through. These are the worst people I have ever met in my life. This place has a cute marketing ploy that pulls on women's heart strings, but they missed simple medical procedures and desperately wanted to kill my cat.Cute, but deadly. Malpractice. I wouldn't even trust these people working at Petco. Read Less

Since I'm new to Minneapolis I needed to find a new regular clinic for my cat, Tabitha.  It isn't time for her check-up yet, but I brought her in for a grooming earlier this week.  I dropped her off at 8:30am and got a call that she was ready to pick up as early as 11:30am.  I couldn't wait to come see her and her shorter hairdo (she's a long hair) .  Even though it was my first time using City Cat Clinic they knew me right away, addressed me by name and knew my cat's name.  They brought her back up to the front and she was quite calm.  After looking at her haircut I thought their groomer did an excellent job cutting her hair, while not cutting it so short that it will damage the integrity of her fur.  I'm sure she'll be much cooler during the warm weather days now.  The next day I was surprised to receive a follow-up call from the clinic (for a haircut!) to see how Tabitha was fairing with her new haircut.  The girl on the phone was lovely to talk to and I really appreciated heir follow up with me!  I think this is a clinic that really cares about cats (as they should!).  It's clean and stylish looking and has a very comfortable vibe to it and the staff always seems kind and personable.  This will be my new regular clinic in Minneapolis! Love this place. I've taken two cats there for regular check-ups as well as for some health issues (respiratory infection for one and asthma for another). As another reviewer said, I worry that I'll get bugged for allowing my cat to go outside and for not keeping up with regular annual visits, but the staff never bugs me about it. They seem to have a practical approach toward pet ownership, and they always just provide me with information, offer their advice, and then let me make my own decisions. They're always very warm, friendly, and kind. They seem to truly love cats and know what's best for them. The office is also something that I really appreciate, as it is calm, quiet, and inviting. It's not like the clinic attached to Petsmart, where you feel like you're in an emergency room hospital. It feels more like a spa or a hotel lobby, which is especially nice when you and/or your cat(s) are nervous and anxious (as is usually the case with cats at least). Read Less

Hands down the best veterinary services and boarding services I have ever experienced! I boarded my cat for about 5 days a year ago when we had just moved to the area from GA. The keep a report card of his behaviors, eating and drinking, and bowel movements twice a day. They even called me to make sure he was doing okay the day after I took him home. You can see straight into the kitty condos from the lobby and they are extremely clean and not smelly at all. If you walked in blind-folded you would never even know that you were in a boarding/vet services facility the whole place is so clean. I decided to take my cat here for his yearly checkup since I had such a good experience with boarding. They remembered him a year later! The visit was phenomenal. The vet was very thorough and gentle with my shy little boy. She asked many questions and also left time for me to ask any of my own. She made sure that I was well informed so I could make the best decisions for my cat's health. And again - they called two days later just to make sure he was doing okay :) I cannot express how happy and pleased I am with the services at this facility. Wow, I wish human doctors were this nice.   None of my doctors follow up with a phone callFirst of all, its a cat only clinic.  I love dogs but I think if a kitty is sick she may not want Fido around.   They also have a cat hotel there, so if you are skipping town for a few days, your kitty may stay at the fancy four level kitty suite - I believe its around $30 per day. So, back to the appt.   It was my first time there, Ive adopted my kitty from the Humane Society and about four months later I noticed he was missing a patch of fur....I got worried and googling did not help.  I called the clinic and they were able to see me the next day.   Checking in was easy, I even got to pet their resident cat.  I think the receptionist noticed that I was nervous and she talked to me.   It helped at little, I think I was more nervous then my cat, who was trying to get out of his cat carrier. We were seen by doctor Schmidt (spelling).  He really took the time to listen to my concerns and examine my baby.  Turns out he just scratched himself.   Doctor took the whole thirty minutes to talk to me about all the other issues I should be aware of.  He genuine seemed conserned about the welfare of my kitty and we weren't rushed at all. I got two(!!) follow up calls from the doctor and the vet tech, they just wanted to make sure everything is going well and there are no changes. I hope we wont need them anytime soon, but if your kitty is sick, this is the place. Read Less

Read Less
