Normally I'm not crazy about corporate places and in some ways I'm probably a sucker here where I'd be skeptical elsewhere. However, I have 3 rescues (2 dogs, 1cat) and they all love Dr. Nordaune (sp?). 1 dog is diabetic and the other has terrible teeth (cresteds have the worst teeth...) and Dr. Nordaune has been extremely helpful, understanding, and not pushy at all with any of their issues and services. One thing that is extremely comforting to me also is that I can travel with my pets and if I'm in an area where there's a Banfield and something happens (which it has!) it won't cost me an arm and a leg to get them care right away because they're already patients. That peace of mind is very much worth what I pay. Read Less

I've been taking my cat to Banfield clinics for the last five or so years, but this will be my last. Incredibly condescending receptionists that are lack any sort of empathy, services and prices unnecessary and exorbitant. I totally expected a wait on a Sunday without an appointment, but not over 8 hours waiting. I missed work, and my cat sat terrified in a cage at the clinic for almost an entire day. Needless to say, they put my senior citizen cat under anesthesia to diagnose a UTI. We walked out with an antibiotic and fluid shot, and about $450 in damages. Sadly, I highly recommend you taking your pet elsewhere. And my days with Banfield are officially over. Read Less

My cat is a patient at another clinic, but after this experience, I am seriously considering switching to Banfield. I called my clinic this morning because my cat was in and out of the litter box all night. He was crying and scooting along the floor. My clinic told me that there was no doctor in today and encouraged me to call other clinics in the area. I tried clinic after clinic, but everyone told me that they were full. Banfield told me that their schedule was also booked solid; however, they told me that if I dropped my cat off, they would look at him in between their other appointments. When we arrived, the staff at Banfield was accommodating, warm, helpful, and courteous. Although they had a busy day, the vet called and talked to me for over ten minutes about treatment options. He did not push me toward any specific treatment plan; in fact, when I asked about a particular test, the vet said that he would recommend waiting a week to see if the cat's symptoms cleared up before running such an expensive diagnostic. Thank you, Banfield, for being so flexible and fitting us in today even though we are not your regular patients! I deeply appreciate it! Read Less

A few weeks before Christmas our 9 year old chocolate lab stopped eating. We brought him into Banfield where they did some blood work and an abdominal ultrasound because the vet felt a mass in his abdomen in his liver region. We were relieved after the vet came walking out with our pup and a smile on her face stating that the blood work didn't really show any abnormalities and the ultrasound showed an enlarged liver, which she would have the radiologist officially read (since it was after 8:00 pm) and call us if the report was different from what she saw. She prescribed Milk Thistle and a low protein diet and a follow up in 2 weeks. After a week of Tank still not eating very well (only treats and table food) and trying multiple different foods thinking he didn't like the change in food we brought him back in. The vet (a different one) walked in and started talking about his tumor, when we questioned tumor she stated yes the tumor in his liver we told her we were never informed he had a tumor. She went back to check the chart again to be sure. Although she was sympathetic she started to talk about euthanasia immediately,  I mean come on. We were just told our beloved dog was dying and we were never even informed he had a tumor. We just wished we would have known right away because we would have spoiled him rotten with table food instead of trying to stick to a low protein diet.  We ended up putting Tank down a few days later in our home on his favorite blanket. Don't go to Banfield even in an emergency, use the Animal Hospital off of 7th Ave in St Paul or their main location in Oakdale which is open 24 hours. We now go to Pomeroy's in St Paul. We also had a terrible experience there with out 12 hear old cat that suddenly stopped eating (which she loved to do). I brought her in after 3 days of her poor appetite where they wrote up an estimate of just under $1,000 of the tests they recommend. We left and brought her elsewhere and had the testing cometed for $400. GO ELSEWHERE THEY ARE OVER PRICED AND THERE IS NO FOLLOW THROUGH. Read Less

They sure do a great job money milking. Every time I bring my boy in they always have something to diagnose and have me purchase it. After some research, I nearly need half of what they keep offering. Had a check-up once for stool and he was clean and cleared to go. After examining and testing, within 30 mins results came back good. I've had my guy checked for stool before and the time frame for checking stool does not take long at all for results. About 2 hours later they called back again just to say that he is not cleared and now have worms! They told me to come back and buy some dewormers and other things for him to cure it. Another time my boy had a limp on his lower shoulder/leg. It was painful only if pressed on. They said I had to leave him there for the night to do surgery the next morning. They never gave me options nor pricing options. They just said he has to stay and that he needs surgery. So I stopped them to ask about pricing and options. Pricing for surgery was almost $900! I had opted for pain meds. that would reduce the swelling and pain. Soon as I got home, I stinted his leg and gave him pain meds for only 3 days. The stint stayed on. A week and a half later the limp had gone away. He was running at full speed and pain free.   Not that any pet hospitals shouldn't be business oriented but honestly; customer care, integrity, and honesty should always come first-not trying to milk people's money. Staying away from all Banfields. Read Less

Took my cat here a few months ago, he had a weird hairless patch on his skin that was kindof cruddy, looked like it could have been fleas or dermatitis or something. I figured a vet could just take a quick look and tell me what was up. My regular vet was booked for a while, so I used the new customer coupon to drop in at Banfield. Upon arrival, I was grumbled at for not making an appointment (isn't taking walk-ins part of their shtick?), the vet tech & vet were nice, but spent the majority of the time hassling me about my cat's weight, (he's plumpy but not giant and I'm working on it). Then they left the room while I had to watch a video about getting a banfield membership or something. Is this place all the sudden a lifetime fitness too? wth? Was then hassled for a long time regarding buying the membership, then presented with a $350 care plan. Apparently a vet at banfield can't tell you if your cat has fleas or not, they just need to treat for EVERY possible scenario that could be causing this mysterious condition. I kid you not, this was their solution. In addition, we apparently needed to do some very expensive and painful lab test to determine what kind of mite may or may not be in his skin,(though all the while treating him for fleas, allergies and dermatitis without actually knowing what his issue is). I said this is ridiculous and left. In my opinion this place is a big money suck and they either don't know what they're doing or just want to prey on people's stupidity and make them think their animal really needs all this crap. SOOO, I made an appointment with my usual vet, Dr.Pomeroy, he looked at my cat's skin, said it's an allergy and it should pass after summer. Bam done. easy as that. And now, behold, my cat is fine, no $350 treatment & tests needed. Read Less

I took my cat to the Banfield Clinic for the first time on Saturday. There was nothing wrong with the vet he was seeing before, but this place is closer to me and I like the fact that they have very convenient operating hours. I had an appointment, but you can also drop in without one.The staff and doctors were very busy, so I did have to wait a bit, but they were very pleasant and kind to me and my cat. I appreciated that they let me know right away how much everything would cost in case I had any concern about that. They don't try to push anything on you. They even itemize all the costs of the procedures, tests, etc on my invoice and provided me some information sheets about the medication given to my pet. The clinic officially closed at 9 pm but they advised that I could pick my cat up later and would call me when he was ready. Unfortunately, the Spruce Tree building/parking ramp was closed by the time I arrived. I gave the Banfield staff a call and they let me into the building without an issue. I got the impression that they often do that. Today someone from the clinic called to check on how my cat was doing, which I thought was nice. My visit was very positive and I have no issue recommending them to anyone in need of a vet. My pet and I will be back. Read Less

Banfield is one of the best pet clinics that I have ever been to. They seem to have a reputation that transcends borders. My mother uses the Banfield in Sacramento, CA for her dogs and this location is the one where I bring my cat.Without an appointment I was able to show up and get help relatively quickly considering that it wasn't an emergency. Including his weighing and filling out paper work I only had to wait about 20 minutes before the vet took a look at him.The staff is very friendly and the clinic is clean. It is also inside of the Petsmart, so you can get some of your animal shopping needs taken care of while you wait. If you leave your animal with them for longer periods of time they will call you when the animal is ready for pick-up. They also call the day before to remind you and the day after to check up.Price comparison varies depending on what you are having done. I feel that they are well priced for many of their procedures. They are very aware of cost and make sure to explain everything to you and don't push to have unnecessary expenses billed. Read Less

Today we had to put our elderly, sick cat down. The kindness shown by the entire staff made a very difficult day easier. Dr. Nordaune's gentle manner and the peaceful procedure made saying goodbye to our beloved Buddy manageable. We will certainly continue to bring our "kids" to the Midway Banfield. Read Less

Ugh Banfield. I really want to like this company. It's so easy to have everything in one place but their veterinarians are always switching and going to other locations. It also doesn't matter if you make an appointment because you typically wait 20 minutes regardless. It's nice that they have an insurance plan but with all the inconsistency and wait times I've had, I'm canceling and going to regular pet insurance. Read Less

Who would have guessed that after repeatedly trying to update my pets wellness plan to my name (the owner) that these folks wouldn't do it, but still somehow auto-bill me for services. They bill me for the plan, but send the notices to my child who does not live with us and as such we're a year without any notification and paying for services we never receive.  I've talked to these folks now for 2 years, and although most everything seems on the up-and-up, this is just too frustrating and I'll be finding another provider. Read Less

The vets and techs are great here but no matter what time of day you come they keep you waiting for at least 15 minutes if not longer. I think Banfield Pet Hospital is the place to go. Especially, Dr. Lottie. She not only treats your pet like it's her very own, she is knowelgible in all aspects of your pet.

Read Less
