Nero, my first dog, was also my first born. Seriously, I'll cop to some major transference to him from years of infertility. He was the big-eyed, adorable baby we longed for, and we stopped just short of diapering and burping him. So when I say I entrusted Como Park Animal Hospital (CPAH) with his health and well-being, that's no small thing.Nero first came to us as a rescue dog--abandoned for 11 months on his deceased owner's farm. Underweight, frostbitten, and terrified, job one was getting him healthy. With Doctor Jennrich at the helm, and two helicopter parents, that was accomplished fairly quickly, and we moved on to maintenance care. Well, it goes without saying that CPAH tended to my baby to the highest standards, or we'd have moved on--probably to the Mayo Clinic, the way we coddled our dog.A few years later, a Dalmatian from the rough side of town took a disliking to Nero, and the staff of CPAH was there for us. Leg broken in 2 places, a five-inch gash in his back, Nero was a fixture at the clinic, and I could not have wished for more professional care. Dr. Jennrich answered any and all questions, communicated thoroughly, and loved Nero up, as did all the caring, friendly staff. Years later again, my baby developed the hacking cough of an old man. This was lung cancer, and this was a biggie. Dr. Jennrich walked us through our options, supported us fully when we decided to treat the badness, and swaddled us over to the U of M for the big surgery. Though the surgery was a success, the cancer later returned. I don't want to dwell on this, but believe me when I say that if you must escort your companion out of this world, Dr. Jennrich is the one you want doing it. He knew the pain we were in, he let us take all the time we needed to say goodbye, and he took extra measures to make the injection completely painless for our little guy. A few years ago, we were lucky enough to take in a new rescue, Nick Charles. We have kids now, so I don't need to transfer quite the level of maternal feelings to this guy, but he still gets the top-notch care we gave our first born. I can't say enough good things about the staff, expertise, quality of care, and love for companion animals that we get from Como Park Animal Hospital. Wet, sloppy kisses all around! Read Less
