We had previously had good experiences, but this most recent event with our dog has been extremely disappointing. She is struggling through a chronic pain issue in her spine, and she got a pinched nerve. She was beyond agonized, and her pain meds were about to run out. We called 4 times and stopped in once, all with the promise that the vet would get to the refill shortly. We made it super clear that she was out and needed them ASAP. We called an hour before they closed, and were again told they'd do it before they closed. We called at 5:59 and their phones had been turned to after hours. We were LIVID. Our dog spent the whole night awake and crying. It was awful. Then when I got ahold of the vet in the morning and we picked up the refill, there was a sticker on there requesting 24 hours for refills, and virtually no acknowledgment that our dog suffered all night because he couldn't take two minutes to fill a refill. We will be transitioning our dogs somewhere that they are not an after-thought and the vets hold their ethical promise of nonmaleficence to a real standard, instead of treating it like our fault (when historically we have had no trouble getting refills). We have been taking our 3 dogs and cat to Larpenteur Animal Hospital for years and to Dr. Dan Anderson. Through all the regular check-ups, incidentals, old age and death of our lab and cat, we have been able to rely on the warmth and detailed care from LAH. Dr. Anderson diagnosed a thyroid condition in our lab that was missed by a previous clinic which only solidified my relationship with his clinic. Thank you all for the 10 years you took care of our dear sweet Honey dog. I cannot thank you all enough. Vets and all the staff, you are wonderful. Thanks for giving Honey (and our 3 cats) the best care ever. She's running around heaven with 3 tennis balls in her mouth, trying to get either a loaf of bread to enjoy, or just knocking over the heavenly garbage can. This summer we'll take her ashes to her favorite place, grandparent's lake in WI, go down to the pier, and put her in the water where she was the happiest dog ever. I have been going to Larpenteur Animal Hospital for about 8 years now and I take all three of my babies here. While I respect them greatly and appreciate going there, I really wish they would be a vet that stepped up and outright banned or refused to declaw cats. I have been a strong advocate against declaw for quite some time and just finished watching the Paw Project which is a documentary I recommend to all!
