When we moved to Minnesota we needed a vet for our little one. My husband used to take his dog to Lake Animal Hospital when he was a kid so we decided to give it a shot. I really liked our visit with them. It was easy setting up the appointment, we were seen right away (we waited for a vet once for over an hour so this was a big thing for us), and everyone was super friendly. Our dog can get nervous about the vet, but they were champs at making her feel at ease. They had some magic dog crack treat that she just went bonkers for. They also did a great job explaining and not upselling us on anything. They didn't carry the type of flea medicine we give our dog for example, but they explained how that kind of medicine doesn't cover the stuff you should be worried about out here. They also explained how we don't need to give flea medicine when it is frozen outside. I felt very informed and heard in our decisions. We had to schedule a follow up for the lime disease booster shot and again it was a breeze. We'll probably keep coming back given how great the service has been despite the fact that we have moved to a new area. 91/100 Read Less

We were so devastated to have to put our dog down. Unfortunately when she got sick our regular vet was unable to get her in (was shocked that this happened even though we called in the morning and they were open until 3pm that afternoon). Seeing she was in a lot of pain, we called around to at least 10 places. You can probably imagine how heartbreaking this was to do. Lake Animal hospital was not only incredibly kind over the phone, however they got us in within 90 minutes even though we were not a patient there. I can't tell you how much this meant to our family that they took us in on such short notice. Their kindness and compassion in working with our family was beyond kind. Will always be appreciative they did this!!! That says a lot for a vet to take someone in at the last minute that isn't even a patient there and not charge them a arm and a leg (it was almost 3 times as much at an emergency hospital which would have been much farther away). We love Lake Animal Hospital! After leaving another vet in the area due to an unfortunate incident, we were weary of where to take our dog next. After hearing from several friends about Lake Animal Hospital, that's where we decided to go. The staff is very friendly and they were always very accommodating with our needs. Stay away. We had a horrible experience here and believe that our dog did not receive proper vet care and treatment.   We believe this lack of care cost us thousands of dollars and almost the life of our dog.  This is not an AAHA certified vet hospital. We will never bring our dogs to a pet hospital again that does not have this AAHA certification standard of veterinary practice. Read Less

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this clinic. I have been going to Lake Animal Hospital since my very first dog over forty years. Dr. Brewer cared for our family pets for years until he retired and then we started going to Dr. Amy Kruchowski who has been amazing with my dogs. Unfortunately, one of my dogs had become very ill this past spring and started having seizures along with a multitude of other health issues. Dr. Kruchowski has been there for me and my family and so has the caring staff here. I know that at anytime I can call this clinic and get the proper care my animals need at anytime. The entire staff take the time to explain and actually care about my pets.  I wouldn't go anywhere else. As a matter of fact, when I lived in Wisconsin I still drove all the way to this clinic because its worth the drive to have people that legitimately care about my dogs. Read Less

I cannot say enough great things about this clinic! The staff is incredibly attentive and they give caring, gentle, personal service. My dogs have seen at least 3 of the vets here, and I’ve been impressed by the knowledge, experience, and professionalism of all of them. They truly LISTEN to their clients, and think outside the box when necessary! I also had to euthanize my older dog here, and the staff cared for us like family members during that impossibly difficult time. I give Lake Animal Hospital my highest recommendation possible! Search no more, this place has all your answers at a price you can afford...I have never received better customer service, care, or pricing at any other vet in the Twin Cities area. I have had many pets & visited many clinics that are more convenient when it comes to location, but I alas, I will make the drive to Hugo every time.It all started when I visited a vet clinic close to my home because my pup had a very small bump on her eyelid.  The local vet clinic I visited told me that the bump was scratching her eye & needed to be removed immediately.  They then quoted me over $900 for surgery & removal of the bump.  Not wanting to spend the money, I visited Lake Animal Hospital for a second opinion.  Lake Animal Hospital told me there was no reason to worry or to remove the bump right away.  They instructed me to monitor the bump & come back if it seems to worsen.  That was six years ago & my dog is just fine with the still tiny bump on her eyelid.  I could not believe I almost spent $900 on a procedure that wasn't necessary.  Since then, all of my pets have been seen @ Lake Animal Hospital.  They will always take the time to answer all your questions & help you in any way that they can.  & they are open on Saturdays which saves you an emergency vet clinic cost.Seriously, visit once & you will never take your pet anywhere else.
