Doctors and Techs always treat our animals as if they were their own. My dogs have always been nervous about clinics but not here, especially now that they are in their senior years. I just wanted to share with everyone looking for a vet how wonderful this clinic, its doctors and staff are. We have been seeing Dr. Dalton for our veterinary care for almost 15 years. Two dogs and a cat have been under his care and we have always appreciated his professionalism, his knowledge level, surgical skill and his doctor-patient-owner bedside manner. From regular checkups, vaccines, minor health concerns, major health concerns to the unfortunate day when you have to say goodbye to your beloved pet, Dr. Dalton and his staff will be there to care for you and your concerns as much as he does your pets, that has consistently been our experience over the past 15 years. I was trying to find a new vet for my sweet pup to get some dental work. when I called ahead and talked to bailey she explained that she was aware their prices were a bit high, however you get what you pay for, and if you get dental cleaning, the doctors inspection would be taken off the final bill. so I agree reluctantly. bring him in and they seem nice enough. I explaine how my pup has asthma along with some other breathing issues. so the use of any fragrances is strictly prohibited. they said it would not be an issue. they also reassured me the doc visit and bloodwoork would be taken off the bill. when I finally pick him up my poor guy is wheezing and coughing. his eyes are red from the trauma. I reach down to hug him and he smells like a bouquet of flowers. I'm trying to pay at the front desk and I'm told that she has absolutely no idea what Bailey could have ever been talking about and that since she wasn't there, I would have to pay the full price. I just wanted to get my dog home to help him so I payed it. she said I would have to call back when Bailey is working and she would issue me a reimbursement. well we all know where that went. down the effing tubes. I talked to Bailey a few days later and explain how upset I am with a few things. obviously the state that my dog was in and that I was charged too much. here's where she completely goes back on her own word. she said she'd never said anything like that and that maybe I misunderstood her. she also when on to say they don't use any chemicals. of course I laughed at her for saying something so ridiculous. she said whatever I'm smelling on the dog, it wasn't from them. sure. that didn't stop him from throwing up and coughing all night long while the wife and I did everything we could for him. on top of that, they can't do reimbursements. so I speak to the owner a few days later and he tells me it's just miscommunication and they didn't do anything bad to my dog and he stands behind his line of work. good to know you stand behind such a bait and switch operation. needless to say we will NOT BE COMING BACK.Read Less

It was December 23, 2016 when I had to make the phone call; our Senior Goldendoodle Sadie we adopted three and a half years ago was throwing up yellow/white foam and didn't want to eat anymore. In just a couple days Sadie had gotten so sick and in her eyes she looked like she was in so much pain. New to the area with no vet to call 'home' Bailey answered the phone at White Bear Animal Hospital. Bailey was kind, empathetic and accommodating; she allowed me to 'take my time' while I was emotionally answering the few questions about Sadie in preparation for the visit that afternoon. When we got there we were immediately taken into the private room. Bonnie our vet tech kept up with us as we fired a lot of information to her all at once; explaining what had happened in just a short amount of time. Bonnie relayed the information to our vet and almost immediately our vet came in to give Sadie her physical exam. With optimistic hope Sadie passed her physical exam with flying colors. The vet decided to run blood work and x-rays to determine the source of Sadie's pain. Bonnie offered us a cup of coffee while we waited for Sadie to get back into our private room. After that cup of coffee the x-rays were ready; the vet was optimistic about an action plan and she started talking about our options. The blood work was done and the vet pulled up the numbers. Sadie's kidneys were failing coupled with the fact her bad cells were attacking her good cells the prognosis was terminal. As we asked the hard questions about life expectancy and quality of life the vet was direct and straight forward with us. She gave us every option and did not pressure us in any way. Due to Sadie's quality of life we starting talking about what needed to happen in her best interest. They gave us have as much time as we needed and provided us a buzzer to indicate when we were ready to make a decision. After we talked it over we decided to say our goodbyes. Bailey came in and talked us through the process while taking on our emotional pain and loving on Sadie. We decided to allow them to take Sadie in the back while we waited in our private room until process was completed. Once competed, Bailey came back in our private room with empathy explained how it went and gifted us a clay paw print in memory of Sadie. Bailey led us out the back door so other customers didn't have to witness to our pain. As difficult as this process was everyone that we worked with at White Bear Animal Hospital was phenomenal. The amount of love they have for the animals, the respect they have for the customer and the options we were offered made this incredibly difficult experience the best it could be. As I write this review on Christmas morning grieving the loss of our loving, sweet and amazing Doodle Sadie I thank everyone at White Bear Animal Hospital for their service and dedication. We have faith that in a mater of time the next dog that needs a loving home with find its way to our house and we will have a vet to call home at White Bear Animal Hospital. Thank you all for your love, support and your empathy during this painful time, Katie & Craig. Read Less

I am so pleased with Dr. Dalton and all of the staff at the White Bear Animal Hospital. The service provided was absolutely exceptional and I would highly recommend them. My dog Ryker was having a medical emergency and they scheduled an appointment right away for us. From the moment we arrived everyone was so caring. Dr. Dalton and his team explained everything so I could understand and he did a great job figuring out the problem without doing a million unnecessary testing. They got right down on the floor with my dog and I to provide treatments and comfort us. During such a stressful time, while I was so scared and worried about my dog everyone was so sweet, nice and they did such a great job diagnosing my dog and providing treatment. I am over the top happy with my whole experience and I will definitely be going back in the future.Read Less

We adopted a dog from a bad situation a few months back. We were kind of afraid of him because of his aggressive behavior at times. We brought him to White Bear Animal Hospital with a good deal of apprehension because of said behaviors. We were treated with a great deal of patience and respect. We were given excellent advice on how to handle the behaviors as well as advice on medical, nutrition and general care that could help his personality develop. I am very happy to say that today, Sam, our yellow lab is quite a joy and has such a great personality that he has definitely found his forever home with us. Please update your website to give a truthful description of onychectomy (also known as declawing) It is not "removal of the claw". It is amputation of the third toe digit, including, tendons, nerves and bones. It cripples the cat for life, both physically and emotionally. It creates litter box avoidance problems due to pain in the feet. It creates chronic pain in the legs and back due to the inability of the cat to ever be able to properly walk or stretch again. It increases biting behavior. It does not "keep cats in homes" or "save lives". That you push this very invasive elective needless surgery is bad enough, you should at least be giving full disclosure. You should be trying to talk people out of it, you know, like the AMVA says as "last resort?" not selling it. Read Less

We love White Bear Animal Hospital. All three of the doctors are wonderful and I can't say enough about how great the rest of the staff is. We had to put our two beloved dogs to sleep in the past year and their compassion and kindness meant the world to us. They even have an online health system so we have access to all of their health records. Our pets are family to us and I am totally comfortable in saying we wouldn't take them anywhere else. The time and energy and compassion he and his incredible staff give has enabled our organization to place 10 Service dogs with inmates in a Federal Prison. The inmates are raising and training Assistance Dogs for placement with persons having physical disabilities. As the inmates learn to train and care for service dogs, they have the opportunity to develop skills such as emotional and social competence, leadership skills, increased levels of responsibility, empathy, and emotional regulation. Over the approximately 18 - 24 months the puppies are in FCI Sandstone they are taught up to 90 commands to perform such tasks for their future partners. If not for the integrity and community caring of Dr. Dalton and White Bear Animal Hospital, We simply COULD NOT provide this program to the inmates - period. My dog has two cruciate repairs with Dr Scanlon. The records from the 1st surgery stated her Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) was completely torn and removed. The records from her 2nd surgery stated that a specific portion of her meniscus was torn and removed. Well today she had a 3rd cruciate repair with an Orthopedic Surgeon. The orthopedic surgeon found that not only was her PCL still present it was completely intact. He also found that the portion of menicus that they stated was removed was still present and torn. A vet clinic is required to keep accurate medical records. Not only were the medical records wrong, they failed to correct their errors from the 1st surgery, ie say that her PCL was not removed and is intact. I have no problem with Dr Scanlons 2 surgeries failing, that can happen, but I do have a problem with my dogs medical records being grossly inaccurate, which probably means there are more pets with miss information in their medical records.

Thank you so much WBAH for the help in making the adjustment period a positive thing for all of us. Read Less

They have cutting edge treatments available, but we never feel pressured to do anything outside of our comfort zone. They even have an online health system so we have access to all of their health records. Our pets are family to us and I am totally comfortable in saying we wouldn't take them anywhere else. Exceptional! Dr. Dalton, the owner of this business and a veterinarian, donates spaying and neutering, and other free or reduced-cost veterinary services and products for our service dogs in-training. We have a very significant investment in our dogs and program. WBAH has earned our trust and respect in every way...they not only treat our dogs like they were thiers, but they treat 'em like family! This past week our dog became very ill as we were getting up for the day. I contacted our regular clinic and they were unable and unwilling to see our dog. I called the White Bear Vet Clinic at 8:00am and even though we were not current clients, and even though they had no open appointment times, they told me to bring our pet in immediately. I was there by 8:30am and we were brought directly into an exam room and the vet was in minutes later. Sadly, our dog did not survive the day, but the care, communication and compassion we received by all the staff of the White Bear Clinic was excellent. Read Less
