The facilities are clean, the people are generally pleasant, and it is very easy to get on the schedule. This is what drove the two star review. If you are looking for just these things, you've found your place. That said, if you are looking for someone to take care of your furry family with knowledge and empathy (and not just make money)--- our experience with the actual vet service left much to be desired. We had our chronically sick cat in a couple of times-- on multiple occasions spent hundreds on tests, with the final recommendation from this facility being that we needed to have his teeth cleaned. We didn't believe this to be the root cause, so we sought a second opinion. In doing so, we realized not only were we not receiving competitive costs on tests, but our cat had CANCER and not a sore tooth. In fact, the multiple vets we saw also disagreed with the teeth cleaning recommendation. After our cat passed, we contacted Carver to briefly let them know what had happened and that we would not be returning. Rather than dig in to the case or offer to speak about our experience, they sent a short canned response about "keeping us in their thoughts". Our new vet not only called us multiple times after our loss, but sent a hand written sympathy card as well. It is possible to find vets that are both great at their jobs AND have the empathy needed for the field--who aren't just focused on running up your bill when they can't find an answer. We were in multiple times with similar symptoms over the course of our time with them, the latest as symptoms worsened, causing us to revisit their previous lack of diagnosis. The facility is always clean and tidy. The staff is awesome. They not only show genuine interest in the pets but the owner as well. When I bring in my cat I feel welcomed the moment I walk in the door. They keep true to appointment times, I've gone to this clinic for eight years and never once waited...I am always immediately taken back to an exam room and the vet techs start their work immediately. The doctors keep pet owners well informed, both on what they are doing with your pet at the appointment and what will happen next, even if your pet appears to be healthy. They also keep in contact after appointments - both in email and phone. My cat had some eye issues and the doctor called a few days later just to check in. Great place to bring your animals. Priced moderately but still affordable. Would you take yourself to a doctor because it was cheap or would you see the doctor that provided quality service? Your pet's health is worth it. Read Less

I took my dog here as a puppy (5 years ago) but we ended up using banfield to help defray costs (dumb idea). We then used True Companion Vet Van but I needed her to be seen today for some bad allergies and couldn't get in to see the vet so I called Carver and they got her in within a few hours. The vet and staff were extremely sweet to my overly anxious dog and even made sure she wasn't put in a position where she'd be more anxious. They got her in a room right away because she tends to bark at all the dogs too. But she did super well with the clinic getting in and out and although she doesn't like new people, she tolerated the exam. They were all so good with her.The cost was reasonable as well. All of the employees are so engaging. My dog was having medical issues and they got us in for a same-day appointment right away. They welcomed both me and my dog as soon as we walked in. And, they were so helpful as I had forgotten my dog's leash, so they gave me one of theirs to use. Great service - great staff! Read Less

Hello, We take (probably used to take) our mini golden doodle to this vet. I have no doubt in my mind that they care for the animals they see here. They were great with him. However, they seem to over-recommend any and every procedure. One year after our dog had his teeth professionally cleaned (where he was sedated) at a different facility, we were told by Carver Lake Vet that his teeth were really bad and needed to be cleaned again. We were given an estimate of $300-700... We decided to wait on it and the following year we took him to Carver Lake Vet again. This time they warned us that his teeth were in severe danger. We received a quote of $700-1600 to clean his teeth.... They've called and emailed us to get this scheduled and cited a fear that he will lose several of his teeth. We shopped around to another vet and they were able to perform the cleaning for $240. The other vet stated that while my dog's teeth needed to be cleaned, he wasn't in any danger of losing the teeth. Driving 20 minutes outside the city can save you a LOT of money. Read Less

This was a first visit for my newly adopted dog. We felt welcomed and at home while waiting to see the vet. All of my health care concerns for Missy were addressed during our consultation. As a Mom it's hard to see your kids so upset over losing a pet.....even something small like a teddy bear Hamster. Our little Hammy Eve( named after Christmas Eve when my son got her as a present) was small but had a huge personality and we loved her dearly. Out of the blue our sweet hamster Eve (2.5 yrs old) started having seizures uncontrollably and her suffering would not end. I couldn't bear to see my children so upset or to watch Eve suffer for such an extended time. I called around looking for anyone that could help put her ease and end her suffering. Carver lake was the 5th place I called and instead of "No sorry we don't deal with Hamsters or small pets they said "Yes of course! Bring her in right away!" So thankful I stumbled across this wonderful vet clinic. They treated Eve like she was just as important as a larger pet.....That her life truly mattered They helped her have a peaceful ending and they put all of our hearts at ease. They made a clay imprint of her tiny paws and imprinted her name under them. They put her in a tiny white box with a white cloth and a real flower laid next to her so we could take her home and bury her. A few days later I received the most heartfelt sympathy card signed by all the employees of the vet clinic. I cannot say enough good things about them. I transferred my care about a year ago to Carver Lake. The staff has been very friendly and accommodating. They clearly love animals and have little touches available to make the appointment a nice experience for my fur-babies and myself. I would highly recommend them. While my cats are still not huge fans of the vets, I know they are in good health and well cared for any time we need them. Carver Lake also has very convenient hours to fit just about any schedule. We were so pleased with how they treated our rat! Previously we experienced horrible vet visits and our pets were not treated with the respect they deserved. Carver and it's staff have cared for my bunnies for awhile now and have always handled them with the utmost care, the staff was particularly amazing when two of my bunnies passed in recent years at the ages of 12 and 14 years as well as when my bunny Coco experienced some health issues. I take my mini lop rabbit here. I am a first time pet owner with him and this clinic came highly recommend by the Minnesota companion rabbit society. They are great and greet my rabbit by name when we come in. They know exactly how to handle and treat him which is great! I was told a lot of vets are not as familiar with rabbits, but to have this vet in the town I live in is great! They also got me in for a last minute appointment when my poor rabbit was sick and not eating. I've seen both Dr.Hunter and Dr.Ed. Great Vet!!!! Read Less
