This will be a pretty long review. You are welcome to read the whole review but I will sum it up by saying we will NEVER be taking our dog back due to the poor service, manipulation, and unprofessionalism exhibited by this clinic (and in particular one technician) that we received over the course of the last 6 weeks.
We took our 14 year old dog in with breathing issues and lack of energy. We went in during regularly scheduled hours on Sat. We called to make an appointment at opening and they instructed us to bring her right in. We waited over 2 hours to see the vet. Not once, at any time did anyone check on us, explain why others were called ahead of us, or even speak to us. Once we were called back, Dr. Dye examined her for 5 minutes, diagnosed her with a heart murmur and said the tech would be back to talk with us about treatment. The tech came back and read from a computer screen that our dog would need tests to confirm the diagnosis, meds, etc. for a total of roughly $600. We declined the tests. The tech stated that she would have to talk to the Dr. and then left. She left her computer screen up when she left. We saw the charges for all the tests disappear as we watched. However, the meds stayed the same. When she came back, she informed us we owed $200 for the visit and the meds. We found it interesting that the dog would get the same medication without the tests as she would with them...at the cost of $400 additional dollars. The medicine was dispensed with 20 of one pill and 30 of the other (both being taken twice a day) which meant we’d run out of one before the other. This made no sense because we were told she’d be on them indefinitely.. Part of the bill was a $100 emergency charge, which we did not understand since they have regular operating hours on Saturday. However, we were ready to leave and didn’t protest. We did ask about getting a prescription but were told by the tech they would keep it on file. (I did give one star because our dog has improved with the medicine.)
That was an ordeal, but it gets worse. When we tried to order her meds from a reputable online pharmacy at half the cost of the vets office, it was ridiculous. The company faxed the prescription request to the clinic. After several days waiting, we called the company who stated they hadn’t received it back. We called the clinic, who said they had it but refused to fax it to the company. When we spoke to the same tech she said she’d been trying to call us for days to tell us to come pick it up. Complete untruth. In the age of caller ID, you can’t really tell people that. We picked it up and signed the paperwork they said needed to to be signed in order to fax AND then they still didn’t fax it. Called the next day, was told they couldn’t fax it. The next day, my husband called, left a message and was assured someone would call back. They did not. He called the next day and the tech he spoke with told him they were going to fax it right then. She immediately called the company and told them it would have to be mailed. Husband called back and was pretty angry. He spoke with the tech who informed him they couldn’t fax it because we hadn’t brought our dog in for a scheduled follow up appointment. There wasn’t EVER one scheduled. At this point, he asked to speak with Dr. Dye. He was put on hold for 10 minutes. Then the tech came back and said Dr. Dye was unavailable but would be happy to talk to him on our next visit. He politely let the tech know there would not be a next visit. I put the prescription in express mail ($25) out of my pocket! Unbelievable! Bottom line, dishonest tech, poor service. Got the feeling that we received this treatment because we weren’t purchasing the medication from them. They did not seem the least bit interested in whether or not our dog got her meds. They did not ask if she was out of meds, close to being out, or about her well being at all! Read Less
