I love my rabbit dearly. I put in a lot of work, despite my circumstances to which I could not control, to get him the proper care he needs. I took him to this vet to get neutered, with a certificate from MARL that said the procedure would be $40. Great!! Seeing as how I'm a 19 year old server, making 2.15 an hour at a failing business, that fit my needs perfectly! I called northside the day I got my certificate, asking if there would be any extra fees or charges. They said there would be a charge of 27.50 for pain medicine. I was fine with that. I saved up around 85 dollars, which is half a month of pay for me, for the travel expenses (1 hour there 1 hour back), and had about 15 dollars cosh for emergency in case something came up. I called again two days before the surgery, to double check on extra fees I might have to acquire. Nope, they confirmed. Just 27.50Well I drop my Bunny off the day of the surgery. I was told come back sometime after 4:30, he'll be ready to go home. I was ecstatic. I asked again. Are there any additional fees I need to know about? Nope.just 27.50 Fabulous. I leave and go to pet smart, under the impression that I can afford to get my bunny a bag of yogurt chips (he loves them) for after his surgery. I leave Jackson and make the hour long drive home. Upon arriving home I have a voice mail from the only employee that showed me any humanity whatsoever, ms. Heather. She said gene would be ready after 9:30 am the next day. Confused, I call the clinic, I ask what time should I pick up my bunny? I tell them his name and the rude receptionist, who I will not name, told me that he would be ready at 430. I ask ONCE AGAIN about charges, and am told 27.50. So I drive the hour long trip to jackson, only to be told by the same woman who said pick him up at 4:30, "oh! No. Rabbits don't go home till the next day after the surgery." Not a big deal, I said alright well what do I owe you so I can just get him tomorrow. She then tells me, "it'll be 80 dollars." Of course, I had planned for something I didn't know about, but not that much. I only had 55 dollars to my name after paying for the surgery. 52 once you count off the treats. She tells me I can't take my rabbit home until that's payed. So I ask what is the fee for? She starts listening things nobody has mentioned to me bio fees, post surgery medication, extra antibiotics because my bunny ate through his stitches (under their care), pain injections fees, etc. I was livid. I explain I don't have the money. Then she starts talking down to me saying, "an average neuter is 300 dollars blah blah blah," well lady I'm 19, paying my way through college, and unable to cover that. That's why I got a discounted neuter in the first place. With tears in my eyes I swiped my card so this woman would stop belittling me in front of the other customers, as if my financial situation wasn't embarrassing enough. As I was leaving, I called back up to the clinic to give them an earful. I was livid. A sweet woman named Heather answered the phone, apologizing on behalf of the rude receptionist, apologizing for all the miscommunications, and apologizing for the unproffesionalism. She explained that she would take care of the problems for me, she discussed the extra fees very openly, and told me there'd be another 20 fee the next day, which was fine, I just needed the communication. Finally my boyfriend got my bunny for me, Heather gave him the proper guidelines for after care, she continued apologizing, and thanked us for our patience. Heathers kindness and professionalism is the only thing that saved their rating. Also, it may not be entirely her, but I am giving her the recognition for my rabbits quick recovery. A personal thank you from me to Heather for showing me humanity despite my circumstance and for taking care of rabbit. If I ever go back, I will only go through her. Period. Read Less
