I’ve taken my animals to Dr. Smith since I can remember. They have always done an amazing job with all of our pets. My dog went into liver failure and had to be kept on IVs for days with all kinds of medications. She was boarded there until she was well enough to come home. I believe it was six days. Her bill was less than 600 dollars. You don’t get that kind of service most places. They treat every animal with love and kindness. It’s very obvious they do their jobs because they care. Read Less

I would recommend this vet to everyone! They have been wonderful with my furbabies. They have had surgeries there, teeth pulled, cleaned , been boarded, microchipped, etc here. Very friendly and they care. Very reasonable priced without sacrificing quality of service. Read Less

Went in at 4 pm sit and waited for until 5:10 moved to a room then at 5:35 still not seeing any one asked would it be much longer, they replied yes. So here is the deal my baby had got spaided and has had complications from their work. This is her second return for them to decide if she is needing to go in be refixed of what ever they may have done. I have used this vet office for years but the last six or seven has been on a down hill slid and I guess today was it! I’m always aggravated at the staffout front. ‼️ They are rude to people and make me ill. People don’t feel that their animals are disposable that is why we are there. And they don’t treat people as they themselves would like to be treated of this I am sure. They need to have a class in how to treat customers. A customer service class would do them good. And if you don’t like Animals get a new job. Remember you asked for the job you have and if you don’t like then move on cause we the people know if you hate what you do it shows ‼️ Read Less

They're cheap, but you get what you pay for. Dr didn't even look at my dog when we brought him in for a rash/hair falling out. Dr said it was allergies. Charged me 60$ for shampoo. Turns out, it's a bacterial infection. Maybe he would have known if he bothered to take the time to actually LOOK at my dog. Waste of money. Read Less

I was referred to George County Veterinary Clinic by a co-worker after my dog bit someone and was ordered to be quarantined for 10 days. Needless to say, I was absolutely devastated not only for the friend he bit, but also for the future of my animal, my baby. He has never been away from me for more than 24 hours. Now he was going to this strange place, an hour away from home to be kept in quarantine away from his normal environment. Heading to the vet was no doubt traumatizing because I didn't know how my dog would behave now or how we would be treated. My worst fears were put behind me when I finally arrived all teary eyed and just drained after the long day prior. The staff in the front office could not have been any kinder and non-judgmental towards myself and my baby. We are now on day 7 of quarantine and I can tell you I have called every day, twice a day to check on my juvenile delinquent and I still receive the same stellar treatment from the staff. I commend the entire staff for taking care of my baby and treating me like I have been a customer for years prior to this visit. I can assure you, I will be bringing my dog here, (if they will have him) for many years to come. Per my daily conversations with the staff, my baby is doing wonderful and has not been a problem since day one. I believe that is due to the caring staff and their concerning qualities. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making a horrible experience much more bearable by just doing what y'all do. Dr. Kelly has shown such compassion for our pets and has even come to the clinic to meet us on her off day. Dr. Carl Smith was there with us when we had to euthanize two of our 16 year old cats because of cancer. He showed kindness and supported us at a time when we were totally devastated. One of the vet techs even took a moment to give me a hug. That meant so much. And, we weren't charged one cent for this service!!! It warmed our hearts. I understand that when you provide a valuable service to the masses that there are certain to be those whose experiences are not so good. I feel bad for those folks, but after many years, I find that I have remained thankful for the doctors at George County Veterinary Clinic. Thank you will never be enough. Read Less

When I first went to this office the staff treated my and my pet as if we were the only important people there. The whole staff has my my best interest at heart and I would recommend that if you are looking for a great Veterinarian please consider this group. They are the best Read Less

This is by far the most personalable, professional, knowledgeable veterinarian in the states. The Doctors here aren't just Normal doctors. They truly whole heartedly care about your pets. They know you by name and your pets by name not just by a chart. I love them to pieces and highly recommend them to anyone anywhere. I work construction and travel a lot d have had to deal with several different vets and have never met anyone who came remotely close to being as awesome and good as they are. Top Notch. Doctor Karl Smith and staff are the best Vets ever. They truly love all animals and make you feel as if your animal is the most important one ever! They go above and beyond what is required without charging a fortune. They are easily found in Lucedale, MS. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Best vet care anywhere around! (601) 947-1976!! This is an amazing animal / fur baby vetinary care. I am so extremely satisfied with the care they give to my dog Riley! They actually seem to really have a heartfelt care for all animals. they have taken care of many of our hog dogs over the over the past few years.They are the best I ve ever delt with .They just took great care of our Miniature horse Sassie removed a tumor ,pulled a tooth and kept her 5 days and did nt charge us an arm and leg!!!! Only vets we will use! Over 30 yrs now for horses & now our precious cats Prissy & Kit-Kat! Always a wait, but definitely worth it! I would not recommend this vet to anyone. I use to would until I seen the true side of this vet. I took my cocker spaniel there to have a so called fatty tumor off of his hip. My cocker was very healthy with not one issue. We dropped him off that day and I called and checked on him periodically to see if they had done it yet. Apparently they only do the surgeries after closing. He opened Ruffies leg up and seen that it was cancer. He did not once call us and tell us this. We came the next day to get him and waited over an hour. When they brought him out he could not walk and the incision was leaking blood terribly and the tumor looked like it hadn't been removed. We took him home and watched him carefully. He was very weak not eating and not able to take his meds. We had to literally pick him up and take him out to use the restroom. The next day was really bad. When got back from our doctor appointment he had gotten up and pooped every where. His bowels and kidneys seem to be shutting down. We called them and then proceeded out there. Ruffy died a few times and I was able to bring him back. We. Finally arrived and rushed him in and the doc says put him in that room and kept walking out. After waiting so long Ruffy started gasping for air, after I raised Cain the rude helper came in and grabbed him up and took him to the back. A while later the lady Doctor came in and told us his body was shutting. Down and there was nothing anyone could do. The lady Doctor was the best one there and it was not her fault. But Dr. Smith should be ashamed of himself. I will not be using them any more... Just beware and be careful who you use there. They are ok for blood work and small stuff.Read Less

Absolutely horrible experience with the clueless staff at GCVC. I took my 10 year old male dog there after he began having troubles walking. We have been going there for about 3 years, but for minor issues. We saw Kelli our 1st visit and she expressed concerns of testicular cancer in my dog, but did nothing at all to evaluate him except say he was "sensitive back there" when she attempted to examine him.We were back in 4 days later after a spot on his side I had concern with, ruptured. I then saw her brother, Matthew, who was just as clueless as Kelli. He gave me some BS excuse as to why his sister didn't properly examine my dog and prescribed me more meds which I ultimately threw away.I got my dog out of there, took him to another Vet where he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, enlarged prostate and a UTI. My new Vet, Dr. Symes, at Beltline Animal Hospital in Mobile, saved his life. If you wanna do the same for your pet, please do not take them to GCVC Read Less

Dr. Karl Smith of George County Veterinary Clinic is a freaking JOKE!! We just lost another dog because those heartless a**holes.. Anytime you have to leave your pet there over night, don't expect any calls to update you on what's going on with your pet. And don't expect a call to inform you of their passing either. This is the second dog that we've left in their care and they've never called to give us updates on ANYTHING!! We had to call to find out that Kobie died. And when Sadie died, it just so happened that we had to take Mixie in that day to get looked at so we asked how she was doing and he said "Oh yeah, she died last night. I think she's in the freezer." then left the room and he came back with her in a black trash bag and plopped her on the counter and walked right out. They think their so high and mighty because they have a lot of clients coming from Mobile and Hattiesburg so they can stand to lose a few. Because, when I walked in there today to get our blankets that they said were "being washed" (because they were covered in blood and hair) and I decided to confront him about his lack of care for his patients (and btw the blankets were not washed). So, here's how this conversation went. Me: You're Karl Smith, right? Karl: Yes, can I help you? Me: I'm just curious.. Do you really care what happens to the pets back there? Karl: *Puts his hand up in my face* Now you shut up. I've had to put up with bulls**t like this for over 40 years. I ain't listening to it. Me: No, we just lost another dog here and almost lost two others because of you! I almost lost my baby because you idiots!! Karl: Well, you know what? There's a vet clinic over there and another one up the road. You can take your "babies" somewhere else! Me: You best believe I'll be taking them somewhere else because you ain't going to do anything for them!! Karl: You best get your fat a** out of here or you'll be bouncing out!!And this was right in the waiting room.. The man was literally right in my face. So, friends/pet parents, PLEASE DO NOT take your furbabies to this place for ANY kind of treatment!!!! It was at that point that it was all I could do to get to my car before completely losing it.. I don't know if it was finally sinking in that a dog that has been in our family for almost 11 years now was gone. Or, the fact that when confronting this man that is supposed to care for the animals that walk through his doors showed NO care, compassion, or sympathy. I could tell just by the look in his eyes that he just doesn't care. I honestly don't know if he ever truly cared at all. Just please.. If you love your pets take them somewhere else.. by Jen T. on 07/30/2015Well I called to get a price on a four paw declaw for my kitten. I spoke to a male (office manager) and was quoted $75 to do the front claws and $105 to do all four. I got he details and dropped her off on Tuesday morning as directed. I spoke with the front desk girl and added pain medication for $10 and a booster shot for $25. Grand total $140. I tried to pay her but she said she was too busy to take my payment and could I please pay her the next morning when I picked her up. I advised her I couldn't pick her up because I live in Gulfport (80 miles) and that my mom was going to get her for me. This is why I wanted to take care of the bill. She asked me if she could take my care credit card number down and run it later. I agreed. I get my cat the next evening and the invoice is for $160 with a breakdown of charges but $20 higher then what not one, but two employees told me I would be paying. I called just now and after a lengthy discussion I was told that there must have been a miscommunication and that they were sorry. No way I told her. I drove a total of 160 miles to use my moms vet (I'm new to Mississippi) and then my mom had to drive the same distance to being the cat back. I did all this as it was cheaper then doing it by my house. I was put on hold and the Dr was informed of the reason for my call. Dr Smith wants to apologize but there will be no credits or refunds issued. I once again explained that this miscommunication had NOTHING to do on my part and I trusted them to do what they said they were going to do. I trusted them with my credit card. This is unbelievable and such a misuse of my trust. It is bad business and I will let everyone know that Dr Smith and George County Vet is a group of heartless crooks and a simple refund of $20 would have made this right. I wanted to save money and yes, the cat got her procedure but at a higher cost them just the lousy $20 we are disputing. Thank you Dr Smith. If you put yourself in my shoes you would not be happy either. I hope people are forewarned before they put their trust in you or your clinic.  show less Read Less

My daughter drove up from the coast (80 miles one way) to have her cat declawed.   She was quoted a price and upon arrival she added a rabies booster and pain meds.....total $140.  I heard the discussion with the staff about the charges ($140 total).  My daughter tried to pay that day as I was going to pick the cat up the next day but she was told they were to busy and was told to leave her credit card info.  I picked up the cat the next day and did not notice they overcharged her $20.  She call the office today and they pretty much said "to bad so sad"......my question is why did they have tbe time to write down her cc info but no time to run it???  My suggestion is don't leave your cc information with them because obviously they can run whatever charges they feel like!    I did see Dr. Matt that day for my cats yearly checkup and he was very thorough and I did not feel rushed like when I see Doc Smith.... Dr. Matthew was very caring and kind to my two dogs. The bill was about half what I expected it to be! Good service and affordable. Had to wait almost an hour even though I had an appt, but it was late in the afternoon on a Friday. I would definitely recommend this clinic. Read Less

My husband and I drive an hour and a half to bring our pups to this clinic b/c they are so wonderful. The compassion they have for our pets, as well as the incredibly reasonable pricing for their services makes them an indispensable part of our pups' care. Read Less
