We have used Madison Ridgeland Animal Hospital for a long time. Technicians/staff are always friendly and very helpful...Remember who we are every time we come in for a visit. Our schnauzer always looks happy and well taken care of after boarding visits. Owner/vet is always available for questions and help...and have found prices to be very reasonable (just had schnauzer fixed at the clinic). Would recommend clinic to any one looking for a vet to take good care of his/her animals! Have had several people we referred to clinic who have had nice things to say about staff and business! I called around to a few vets when we moved to the Ridgeland area to get pricing on spay/neutering for my two dogs. Madison-Ridgeland Animal Hospital had the nicest over-the-phone customer service and their prices were definitely more affordable than others in the area. I was able to easily make an appointment over the phone for my two dogs to get spayed and neutered. After their surgery, I was called and told how they were doing. Right before they closed for the evening, I was called again and given an update. That was so comforting for me because I was having both of my dogs done at the same time and what could have been a stressful situation was basically stress free. The recovery went well and you can barely tell they have incisions. When I took them to get their stitches out a week later, the staff helped me get the dogs inside and it took less than a minute for both of my dogs to get their stitches out. I recently went on a week-long trip and we also used this vet for boarding. They let both of my dogs stay together and when I picked them up, they were so calm and happy! Once again, the pricing for boarding was really good and I know they were well taken care of. They also have a grooming service we'll be trying soon! They were booked up for the week my dogs were there, but that's not a bad thing at all! Read Less

Bring your pet here if you want them to die painfully and expensively. We found a little puppy out by an old farmhouse. Couldn't have been more than two or three weeks old. We brought her there on the recommendation of a friend of the family for cheap rates and excellent care. And... well. They were wrong on both counts. They took care of a check up, shots, and flea/tick meds BUT. They didn€t tell us the results of that check up found her distemper positive (note: this is fatal for puppies this young.) Not but a week after we got her checked out, she started showing signs of sickness and an absest grew on one of her hind legs. We took her back and they said they were treating her, but really all they did was cut a hole in her leg and say they were draining it "as best they could" which amounted to different vets doing different things and NOT talking to one another. She stayed with them a week and every day we called to check on her it was "She should be well enough to come home by the evening!" In the morning and "Well... we really should keep her another night" in the evening. A WEEK of this. When they finally called us in that Friday she looked dead and they couldn't even tell us anything other than "The infection won't go away. I guess put her down?" We didn't accept that. We took her to an emergency vet center who told us straight out that it was probably distemper, from the notes they received from the first vet (again, we never heard that diagnosis from the first vet. At all.) but that she wasn't showing the normal symptoms of the disease. We chose to fight for her since we finally got people who actually instilled confidence in us. She still died before the end of the weekend, but she was clean and on the uptick right before the end. She looked better dead than she did alive at Madison Ridgeland Animal Hospital. The worst part of all of this? The first Vets were right, but their communication skills made us doubt their abilities everyou step of the way. They didn't tell us about the positive distemper check and their "care" of that absest was horrific. They might be able to handle giving your pet shots and flea meds, but if they're really sick? Take them literally anywhere else. OH. And they support rodeos. Literally one of the biggest red flags possible that they don't actually care about the lives of animals. One of my other roommates took the puppy in initially and didn't notice the pictures, but the moment me and my two other roommates stepped in and saw the many MANY pictures of animals being abused at rodeos, we knew these people were terrible. Do not trust them with your animals. Read Less

I took my cat into this clinic after I had accidentally run over her with my car. I went to this clinic because it was much closer than my regular vet (of 30 years). The staff was very friendly and professional and got us to a room right away. Dr. Garrison came in and, after a very cursory examination informed me that it did not look good, that he thought that her back was broken, that she might not make it through the  night and the proceeded to ask me what I wanted to do. I asked him if he could x-ray her to see if it was indeed her back and his nonchalant answer was, "It either is or it isn't." Not knowing what else to do. I left her overnight and they gave her fluids and steroids. Although my primary concern is what my cat went through, I would add that I spent that night not only extremely emotional, guilt-ridden and traumatized over what I had done to my cat but also (needlessly)thinking that I had broken her back and (needlessly)not knowing if she was going to make it through the night. Much of this emotional distress would have been prevented had he agreed to x-ray her. I spoke with Dr. Garrison the next day on the telephone and he informed me that he had x-rayed her and that her pelvis was broken. He advised me to take her home on steroids and "see how she does'", with no follow-up visit suggested. I asked him about pain medication and he told me that cats are very sensitive to pain meds, that there was only one medication that he could give her and that he could only give it to her once so he would not be giving her anything for pain. When I picked her up, he walked out into the waiting area and again asked me, "What do you want to do?" This was after we had had a telephone conversation a few minutes earlier and he knew that I was coming to get her. He did not go over the x-rays with me or give me any explanation of the extent of her injury. He also prescribed (and sold to me) R/D food for, which I discovered when I got home is a low-calorie food. My cat is older and underweight. She seemed to do quite well until we had some slight complications 6 days later and took her to the Emergency Clinic where we found out that there are, indeed, pain meds that can be given to cats and we were given ten doses of Buprenex to give her at home. I have since taken her to my regular (wonderful) veterinarian who has been compassionate and given her a fair-good prognosis of complete recovery. If Dr. Garrison had possessed knowledge of treating pain in cats and had x-rayed her to determine the exact nature of her injuries, my cat would have had her pain treated before 6 days post-accident and I would not have endured the night I did---a night in which my husband almost took me to the Emergency Room for extreme distress---again much of it could have been prevented by knowing the facts of my cat's injuries. I will NEVER take another of my animals to him and would not suggest it for anyone. His lack of compassion and lack of knowledge will keep me out of there forevermore. Read Less
