My two dogs have a variety of issues between the two of them so I’m frequently having to take them to the vet. This clinic and the vets there are always super helpful and always take the time to explain what’s going on and listen to any questions I may have. Don’t take your animals here. A couple of years ago my mother took her cat here for grooming. He was never the same when he came home. His back legs barely worked, he drug them behind him and he could no longer jump up on anything such as the couch. The vet called us and apologized after we left, she did not tell us what happened but she told us the lady caring for him was no longer working there. Regardless of this i figured i would give them another shot because they are the closest vet to my house. I took my dog a couple weeks ago, they were not caring at all. Very fast paced and in a rush. They put a muzzle on him to give him a shot, i have never been to another vet that uses a muzzle for a shot. maybe for an aggressive dog but mine is small and very sweet. not to mention prices are outrageous. will not return. I currently live in Walls, MS. However, I only take my dog to Elmore road Veterinary hospital now. Early on, I tried others nearby and one smelled really bad & my dog was attacked & staff was rude. But I get the opposite at Elmore Road vet. The staff is always pleasant, doesn't smell & have never had any issues  here. Moved here almost two years ago. A friend suggested this vet and am pleased with the service they provide. Pets will always cost money but they do many great things. Honestly never made an appointment and have gotten in within 15-30 mins every time if you wait for next available vet. I go on saturdays 8-12 since I am too busy to go on weekdays. I needed a EU health certificate and called around to verify places I could go. Elmore ensured me more than once that the vet has done the health certificates many times. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be true. This became a big stressful hot mess. The only good part about this experience was Michelle who kept us in the loop. We should have realized the vet didn't know what was going on or how to go about it when we were asked to find all the info about entering Europe with dogs ourselves and to print it off and bring it in. It's now Tuesday and its the day we were suppose to start our drive to VA to catch our Military flight to Europe but guess what we are doing? Driving 30 mins one way to pick up the health certificate from the vet to then drive 3 hours to Flowood MS to get the aphis usda signature (which is the opposite way than VA in case you didn't realize) to then drive to VA. Yesterday (Monday) was suppose to be the day we took the health cert to Flowood but yesterday all day we waited and waited for an update on the status of our health certificate (the original one had many mistakes) from the vet. WE called at 0730 for them to tell us they had to do redo it but they again ensured us it would be done that day. At 0930 WE called and we were told it would be done in the next hour. 3 hours passed and then WE called again and were told there was an emergency, the DR was working on it would be done asap and we would get a call back. At 1700 ish WE called again and were told that it was done and approved to come in at 0800 Tuesday morning. Do you see the trend? WE CALLED THEM EVERY TIME THAT DAY. They were well aware of our schedule but they were obv on their own time. If the vet wasn't aware of the process or how to fill out the health certificate or didn't have time why couldn't we just be told that?! UGH. 0811 Tuesday and on our way to Flowood. Next time I'll save the money and trouble and drive to the nearest military vet. Michelle gets 4 stars these 2 stars are for the whole disaster. NEVER AGAIN. Read Less

I don't trust any other vets office with my babies! Dr Ellis is so great at what she does. Her heart is in the right place and you can always tell. I have a service dog who is a diabetic alert dog for me and my toddler and she always takes that into perspective when she has had health scares and a scary tail accident. Our service dog is very important and I've never had to be afraid that they are making the wrong desicions for her health. I would like to especially commend them for their manners when the time comes that we have to help our four legged babies cross the rainbow bridge. All my Desoto county friends - Elmore Animal Hospital has some of the most despicable people working for them! I can promise you they will never see another animal I ever have! On October 19th, Jonathan Hudson took Duke ( Great Dane puppy) in because he was sick. These people charged him over $200 to check for Parvo and heart worms, both of which came back with negative results. They then gave Duke dewormer meds and said "he's going to be just fine." Wednesday Duke began getting sick again and by last night this poor dog was vomiting blood and his stools were nothing but blood. When Jonathan took him right back to Elmore, they refused to look at Duke, let alone retest him for Parvo, without additional money. Money that we were not prepared to pay that very second. Money for a test to be run that was JUST RUN on October 19th! They were charging Jonathan for to retest and he simply couldn't pay until today. These people came into the office where Duke was at and literally said "What do you want to do with your dog? We have other things we need to be doing. We want to help your dog but we need more money first." For a test they had ALREADY run just days ago!!! So they sent Duke home. No advice, no meds, not a care in the world that this dog was dying right in front of everyone's eyes. Just as suspected, Duke did not make it through the night. When Jonathan woke this morning to check in him, he had passed. Please, someone tell me, is that how an animal hospital is supposed to be?? They already tested this poor baby for these things! The owners before obviously did not take care of this poor dog. But for Elmore Animal Hospital to turn away an animal that was this sick, when they obviously missed something just days ago, is disgusting to me!! I've taken Sugarfoot there since the day we got her and I can promise you that I will NEVER take any animal to this clinic ever again!!! I am beside my self disgusted that they would let this beautiful Gentle Giant just die because of a false negative on a test they performed and refused to redo without money right then. RIP Duke. I am so sorry that you had to suffer your last couple of days. What an absolutely heart wrenching ordeal. Please keep Jonathan in your thoughts. He was very attached to Duke and this has ripped his heart out too. And Jonathan, you did all you could do for Duke. The fact that ELMORE VETERINARY CLINIC could so coldly allow an animal that sick to die is out of the scope of what you could have ever tried to do. And I'm so sorry for your loss. Please people, think twice before choosing where you take your fur babies. I'm an animal lover. My Sugarfoot is like another child to me. Keep this in mind as Dr Ellis is in Southaven and her staff are the best.Louie, my senior best bud, had his teeth cleaned, was put under because of his age along with blood work, had all his yearly shots, got a bath, spent the night and received one month's pills for his Cushing's disease.$317.00.$317!!!!!JUST to get Louie's teeth cleaned in Germantown, including anesthesia and blood work would have been- $400-$500? More?One month later, went to a Germantown clinic for those pills -  $60 a month!Dr Ellis has agreed to send Lou's pills so I don't have to drive that distance. $23.00 a month.It's incredible. I've known Dr Ellis since she worked at the Olive Branch Animal Clinic. That's why I switched.But now, it's an hour's drive.My point is, it's worth it.Regarding a previous post, Louie had a bath there but no grooming.So, I'm not familiar with the groomers. Read Less

I can not say enough about Elmore Road and Dr. Ellis and her staff! We have been going here for years. They are kind, considerate and caring. It was a little over a year and half ago that my west highland was diagnosed with cancer. I took her to the emergency vet on a Saturday and then followed up with Dr. Ellis on Monday. Dr. Ellis was very thorough with her examination and unfortunately the decision was made to let my baby go. It was one of the hardest days of my life. Dr. Ellis and her staff were so comforting during the process. It truly made it easier for me to accept what we needed to do. Forward a couple of months later and my dachshund became very ill. Dr. Ellis sent us to a specialist for deeper testing and after months of not knowing what was wrong it was Dr. Ellis who diagnosed him with pancreatitis. He was very ill. He spent weeks under their care and after about a year of ups and downs and figuring out his best care plan he finally tested normal again right before Christmas. I have gone to this clinic many times. Every time everyone has been sweet and caring. We have gotten our pups yearly check ups here and dealt with the pain of losing one to cancer. We have 5 dogs and she is by far the best vet we found anywhere! The vet pays attention to each dog as an individual. They find answers to my questions and call me directly with any issue. I am grateful we found Elmore! They are fair and I don't feel they are ever overpriced. Katie is the best groomer. Every week our pets are groomed or just bathed. She loves animals very much, like the care I see in her other coworkers. She is my go to between Dr needs to see pet if necessary. A real advocate for pets. She is thorough and pet aware of signs to bring attention to us and doctor before pet has serious issues. I like that. I ask her to lookout for ear problems and notify me of any problem before it gets worse. Read Less

My wife called and made an appointment to have our dog groomed on May 8th, 2015 at Elmore Road Veterinary Clinic for May 15th, 2015. We specifically asked for a groomer that normally takes care of our dog. They never once told us that she no longer worked there, until upon arrival. Before stating what happened, I can first say my dog is brushed once a week, nails clipped, teeth brushed, ears cleaned, etc. Did my dog have lite mat on her underside, yes. My wife takes our dog to have her groomed. When my wife finds out, that the groomer no longer works there, she asked to speak with the groomer. When the groomer appears, without touching my dog, states she will have to be shaved. My wife said you haven't even felt her hair. She was determined that our dog would have to be shaved. My wife stated, I do not want her shaved, nor her snout shaved. Please call me if you have any problems. We never once received a phone call. Upon arrival, words could not express what we saw. Our dog was cut to the skin, so close to the point, some parts on her have to have baby powder applied. I, the husband, called the vet to speak with the owner, Dr. Brandi Ellis. I spoke my concern to the receptionist and ask that the Dr./owner return my call. Two hours later I called again and asked for her to call me and no returned call. After work I went up to the vet to speak with Dr Ellis. I waited one hour to speak to her. When she came out to speak with me, she listened to my concern, but pretty my just tried to pacify me to get me out of the office. I was able to manage to ask her a few questions. 1st I told her we were never informed that the previous groomer had left. She stated the reason that groomer was gone, was because she was rough with the animals, and are you ready, I have even heard her make your animal squeal/cry. Was I made aware of this in the past??? NO. 2nd, the new groomer even went to the Dr./owner to show her the haircut and the spots that were close to the skin. Why was I never called or made aware? 3rd, the Dr. / owner, made the comment that sometimes she was a bad parent and had to have her dog shaved (1st my dog is brushed, 2nd is she calling me a bad pet owner). 3rd my last concern was I spent $65 dollars on a grooming job that my 5 year old could have done better. All the Dr. / owner could say was I'm sorry. I'm sorry??? Sorry is not good enough for me or my sweet dog. I just want to make everyone aware of the shadiness we experienced. To add to the story, once we got home, my dog loves to go outside and loves to play in the rain. It was raining and my dogs fur was so close, that the rain hurt her back. She came inside and soiled my rug. Now she is acting skidish due to her dramatic experience. We will definitely not be back and I will make everyone I know aware. Read Less

IF I COULD RATE 0 STARS I WOULD. Extremely negligent clinic. I paid of a rabies vaccination 6 months ago and when I go to groom my animal the clinic has "no record". I stayed on the phone for an hour for them to try and figure out what happened. Even though I paid for it, they said I would have to pay again if I wanted the services. Terrible place, I would NEVER do business with them again. God forbid my dog bite someone and I'm held accountable for what they screwed up. Read Less

And they did their best as well, with making my fiance and I feel a little bit better.
