We normally see Dr Amy Madden for our dogs, but trust any of the veterinarians Dr Gilgy hires.
I drive in from St Peters, MO (45 min -1 hr drive) to this office as they are very caring & each pet is treated as individual not just another animal.
They’re very knowledgeable & work with you if there’s a problem or pet needs special care.

I took my second dog here for 15 years and she lived to be 17. They must be doing something right. LOL! They're a very kind group of vets. All of them are highly skilled and knowledgeable.

Dr. Pletz changed my yellow lab's life. Up until a year or so ago she had terrible skin allergies. That's when we met Dr. Pletz who suggested we try a relatively new medication. BOOM! She was a new dog almost instantly! Recently he removed a large tumor from her side and within a couple of days she was running around enjoying the golden years of her life. He truly cares about his patients, and never forces you into any particular treatment. Does great dental work too!

We've been using Barrett Station Vets for about three years and highly recommend their practice. All of the vets are smart, caring and helpful and don't treat unless it makes sense (we've experienced places that do all they can to run up the bill). They are also incredibly compassionate when you're faced with losing your best friend. Front desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well. I wouldn't take our boys anywhere else.

Over fifteen years ago, I met Dr. Caroline Gilge and her wonderful staff. Dr. Gilge and Dr. John Pletz were the main care givers to my beautiful blond Labrador retriever, Cody. He lived 15 years, 2 months. Although he received great care and love from all of us at home, the amazing staff at Barrett Station Vet Clinic guided us through the trials and trlbulations of Cody's ACL surgery (age 11) and occasional hot spots. He had an amazing life and BSVC improved his quality of life during the aging process. When selecting a veterinarian to care for your family's best friend, it's important to have very intelligent, resourceful and caring people. My ten year old daughter has wanted to be a vet since she was four. I attribute this to her love of animals and the numerous interactions with Dr. Gilge, Dr. Pletz, Dr. Knight, Dr. Whelan and the Vet Techs. They truly are the definition of a superior veterinarian clinic. We are acquiring our second blond lab retriever this Fall. He will never be able to replace Cody but we plan to have BSVC continue as the care giver for our pet's needs and our needs.

I have been going to Barrett Station for 9 yrs. This practice was recommended to me when my dog was suffering from kidney failure. Frustrated with the care she was receiving, a friend said I should go to BS. I made an appt with Dr. Laura Pletz (no longer on staff ), and our lives changed! She managed our dog's disease with incredible knowledge, compassion and professionalism until it was time to say goodbye to our beloved friend. I will forever be grateful for her.When we adopted another dog, Dr. John Pletz cared for our new best friend. His knowledge and genuine compassionate care are remarkable. You will not find a better vet!! Over the years we have seen all of the doctors, and each and every one is OUTSTANDING!! Dr. Knight and Dr. Gilje have brought me to tears with their kindness and care. In addition to the amazing medical staff, the office staff is equally wonderful. Every phone call is taken with kindness and patience, no matter how busy they are.I now live several miles from BS and have many good vet clinics within a mile. However, it never crossed my mind to switch....Barrett Station is the BEST and very worth the drive.Thank you to this amazing staff.

I had a schitzu for 16 years, I can say most of her years she had allergies. I took her to the leading dermatologist for dogs in Missouri, he is located on Olive. I had been to Dr. John Pletz on and off as she was growing up. He was moved around and not allowed to have his followers come with him. I think that is a huge mistake. I finally found him after my poor Millie looked like she was going to die. His wife was on KTRS and my husband heard her talking about allergies. I found him again. He kept my Millie in the best of health for her age that could be. My Millie finally passed away at 16, one of the oldest schitzu's that lived. Watching her go through other vets was like watching her die in slow motion. I took her back to Dr. Pletz her skin allergies and her vitality was almost a hundred percent. I do not lie, if this was not true I wouldn't write down such a great review. Anyone, who has a dog with allergies immediately get attention. HE is the kindest, most loving animal vet I have ever met, in my life. Love you Dr. Pletz

We love Barrett Station Vet Clinic. They are large enough to meet the needs of our super Lab mix Holly and our super Golden Retriever Pete and small enough to know us all. Their knowledge and service is outstanding. I say this as someone who has gone through the experience of having a terminally ill dog at a huge impersonal vet practice and then having a teriminally ill dog at Barrett Station. The kindness, competence and grace we all experience at Barrett Station is something everyone can aspire to.

You cannot go wrong at this clinic. Yes, their care is not cheap, but if you will stop at nothing for your furbabies, this is the place for you. Caroline is a very intelligent woman, but does not speak down to you. They all believe in educating and informing their clients, but in layman's terms. In addition, you could not find a more realistic and caring staff - they know when it's time to explain about quality of life, and they are there for you emotionally should you have to make that decision. I've been with Caroline since she's started, and from three cats and four dogs, we've been through puppyhood and kittenhood to ending the journey at the Rainbow Bridge. Once she even kept my 20 year old beloved Russian Blue going until my teenaged children could get there to say their goodbyes. I wouldn't go anywhere else. My breeder uses them, and all their staff are interested in having dialogues about alternative medicine and ways to make your pets' lives easier in your family. There is no one else who I would take my animals to....and I trust no one else's advice. This is the best vet clinic in town.

I've used Barrett Station for over 20 yrs, when Dr Gilgy (Truss) was in a small 1office building on the corner of Barrett Station & Manchester. Followed her thru her now 3rd building as she grew. That says a lot about her practice & its growth. Don't think I've ever had bad service with any one on staff, from front desk to the techs to the vets she's hired. I appreciate the fact that she will hire young vets right out of school as well as some experienced & specialty vets. Just celebrating 25 yrs of service also is a nice statement in its self

I came here after a horrendous experience with a Clayton vet. Everyone here made us feel very welcome and comfortable. I LOVE Dr. Leonard and so do my dogs, Dizzy and Barnsley. My cat, Sassy, did but she died while we were on vacation and Dr. Leonard expressed such sadness and she had only seen her once. My dogs always run to say hi to her compared to shaking and running away. She has called me after surgery to see how Barnsley was doing. She's called to let me know how blood work has turned out. She's called to see if Dizzy has had any further seizures. I've never gotten such care from a doctor before. Thank you. The staff and the vet techs are amazing too. So professional and caring. Thank all of you. You have rebuilt my faith in veterinarians. Thank you for all you do. Thank you from Barnsley and Dizzy, they love you too!

Every time I go to Barrett Station for something, I am truly positively impressed. After each visit, I have to come home and tell my friends how wonderful the experience was. The vet techs are wonderful and really gentle and caring as are the vets. Cant say enough positive.

this one is going to be hard to write. Barrett Vet Clinic has been our primary care for our 3 dachshunds. The main care givers are Dr. Gilje and Dr. John Pletz. 10 years ago we purchased two miniature dachshunds females names Gerti and Trudi or the Gerturdes if you will. Trudi has been blind for a few months diabetic for a few years.Trudi was not an athletic dog nor was she much of a obedience dog. If you called her if she wanted to come she did. If not well she didn't. Trudi back gave out on her and she was in pain. Mrs K. took her here and we had her treated with a steroid shot to help her pain. But deep down we knew this was not going to be good.We had to have Dr. Pletz put her to sleep. She is now in dog heaven where she can see, she can come or not come if she chooses, and no more two shots a day of insulin. Her race has been run and we will miss her.Barrett has a special needs room with an exit that lets you leave without going through the lobby after the event. We did need it. I am lucky that still have Gerti and Maury other two dachshunds.

Dr. Gilje has been my vet for darn near 25 years, thru the ups and downs of many pup-dog illnesses and wellnesses. When we moved to Palm Springs, Ca, one of my main concerns was getting great vet care (been spoiled by the great care at Barrett Station). I use my Palm Springs vets for emergency stuff ( which we try to avoid, but emergency says it all), but, for instance, this summer we drove from Palm Springs to Lake of the Ozarks and on to Barrett Station for dental work on my two pup-dogs and check-up and shots. Love the office personnel (very professional and friendly) and the vets (my fav is Dr. Gilje) are top-class. I never feel like my visits are dollar driven (in Palm Springs, you don't get out of one clinc who shall be not named, for less than $350.00, no matter what, talk about add-ons). Common sense care and the knowledge to back it up.....doesn't get any better than this clinic. Would love it if they would consider opening a branch in Palm Springs......I laughingly told the receptionist I drove literally half-way across the continent to get dental care for my dogs, and I have a hard time driving across the street to get my dental work done, I think I know where my priorities are..

Today I saw Dr. Gijle, who is equally amazing. Everyone is compassionate, gets to the bottom of any issue, and makes sure you are comfortable with what they do and that you understand everything. I always walk away from there feeling like they truly care about me and my pets. Highly recommended.

I have followed Dr. Pletz from Webster to Wildwood and now to Barrett Station. Millie, my dog, her paws were without hair and bleeding, her skin condition was just awful. Hot spots all the time. I went to him and she looks brand new. Dr. Pletz calls her Million dollar Millie because we have taken so many steps to help her with this condition. I give him 5 arf's.

I haven't bothered switching him over to my cat's vet yet because they're just so darn friendly and convenient. Nice, clean waiting area. Friendly receptionists and great vets. I think I've seen them all, since apparently my dog is prone to issues as a puppy. We're there probably once a month!!Bonus points that they're willing to work with the rescue!!

We followed our vet, Dr. Lynn Pullen, to Barrett Station. It's a drive coming from the city but we love our vet and she loves us, so it's well worth the effort. I have seen a couple of the other vets just a couple of times and have been pleased with both of them. I don't think you could go wrong with any vet in the practice as they all communicate and consult with one another when needed. They also have a referral practice not too far down the road that they aren't shy about consulting when things are out of the ordinary.While this place is definitely not the cheapest vet, I fully believe you get what you pay for where veterinary medicine is concerned. They have a fully updated office, very knowledgeable staff and can do most diagnostic work in house. This combined with a great support staff means we will continue driving to West County for our veterinary needs!

When both our dog and cat were critical conditions they were on call for us 24 hours. There was always a vet on call. We dont trust anyone to take care of our animals except for the vets and staff members at Barrett Station Veterinary.

Have been using Barrett Station vet (Dr Carolyn Gilgy) since 1980. I’ve seen the clinic grow over the years.
We normally see Dr Amy Madden for our dogs, but trust any of the veterinarians Dr Gilgy hires.
I drive in from St Peters, MO (45 min -1 hr drive) to this office as they are very caring & each pet is treated as individual not just another animal.
They’re very knowledgeable & work with you if there’s a problem or pet needs special care.

Dr. Pletz changed my yellow lab's life. Up until a year or so ago she had terrible skin allergies. That's when we met Dr. Pletz who suggested we try a relatively new medication. BOOM! She was a new dog almost instantly! Recently he removed a large tumor from her side and within a couple of days she was running around enjoying the golden years of her life. He truly cares about his patients, and never forces you into any particular treatment. Does great dental work too!

We've been using Barrett Station Vets for about three years and highly recommend their practice. All of the vets are smart, caring and helpful and don't treat unless it makes sense (we've experienced places that do all they can to run up the bill). They are also incredibly compassionate when you're faced with losing your best friend. Front desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well. I wouldn't take our boys anywhere else.

Over fifteen years ago, I met Dr. Caroline Gilge and her wonderful staff. Dr. Gilge and Dr. John Pletz were the main care givers to my beautiful blond Labrador retriever, Cody. He lived 15 years, 2 months. Although he received great care and love from all of us at home, the amazing staff at Barrett Station Vet Clinic guided us through the trials and trlbulations of Cody's ACL surgery (age 11) and occasional hot spots. He had an amazing life and BSVC improved his quality of life during the aging process. When selecting a veterinarian to care for your family's best friend, it's important to have very intelligent, resourceful and caring people. My ten year old daughter has wanted to be a vet since she was four. I attribute this to her love of animals and the numerous interactions with Dr. Gilge, Dr. Pletz, Dr. Knight, Dr. Whelan and the Vet Techs. They truly are the definition of a superior veterinarian clinic. We are acquiring our second blond lab retriever this Fall. He will never be able to replace Cody but we plan to have BSVC continue as the care giver for our pet's needs and our needs.

I have been going to Barrett Station for 9 yrs. This practice was recommended to me when my dog was suffering from kidney failure. Frustrated with the care she was receiving, a friend said I should go to BS. I made an appt with Dr. Laura Pletz (no longer on staff ), and our lives changed! She managed our dog's disease with incredible knowledge, compassion and professionalism until it was time to say goodbye to our beloved friend. I will forever be grateful for her.When we adopted another dog, Dr. John Pletz cared for our new best friend. His knowledge and genuine compassionate care are remarkable. You will not find a better vet!! Over the years we have seen all of the doctors, and each and every one is OUTSTANDING!! Dr. Knight and Dr. Gilje have brought me to tears with their kindness and care. In addition to the amazing medical staff, the office staff is equally wonderful. Every phone call is taken with kindness and patience, no matter how busy they are.I now live several miles from BS and have many good vet clinics within a mile. However, it never crossed my mind to switch....Barrett Station is the BEST and very worth the drive.Thank you to this amazing staff.

I had a schitzu for 16 years, I can say most of her years she had allergies. I took her to the leading dermatologist for dogs in Missouri, he is located on Olive. I had been to Dr. John Pletz on and off as she was growing up. He was moved around and not allowed to have his followers come with him. I think that is a huge mistake. I finally found him after my poor Millie looked like she was going to die. His wife was on KTRS and my husband heard her talking about allergies. I found him again. He kept my Millie in the best of health for her age that could be. My Millie finally passed away at 16, one of the oldest schitzu's that lived. Watching her go through other vets was like watching her die in slow motion. I took her back to Dr. Pletz her skin allergies and her vitality was almost a hundred percent. I do not lie, if this was not true I wouldn't write down such a great review. Anyone, who has a dog with allergies immediately get attention. HE is the kindest, most loving animal vet I have ever met, in my life. Love you Dr. Pletz

We love Barrett Station Vet Clinic. They are large enough to meet the needs of our super Lab mix Holly and our super Golden Retriever Pete and small enough to know us all. Their knowledge and service is outstanding. I say this as someone who has gone through the experience of having a terminally ill dog at a huge impersonal vet practice and then having a teriminally ill dog at Barrett Station. The kindness, competence and grace we all experience at Barrett Station is something everyone can aspire to.

You cannot go wrong at this clinic. Yes, their care is not cheap, but if you will stop at nothing for your furbabies, this is the place for you. Caroline is a very intelligent woman, but does not speak down to you. They all believe in educating and informing their clients, but in layman's terms. In addition, you could not find a more realistic and caring staff - they know when it's time to explain about quality of life, and they are there for you emotionally should you have to make that decision. I've been with Caroline since she's started, and from three cats and four dogs, we've been through puppyhood and kittenhood to ending the journey at the Rainbow Bridge. Once she even kept my 20 year old beloved Russian Blue going until my teenaged children could get there to say their goodbyes. I wouldn't go anywhere else. My breeder uses them, and all their staff are interested in having dialogues about alternative medicine and ways to make your pets' lives easier in your family. There is no one else who I would take my animals to....and I trust no one else's advice. This is the best vet clinic in town.

I've used Barrett Station for over 20 yrs, when Dr Gilgy (Truss) was in a small 1office building on the corner of Barrett Station & Manchester. Followed her thru her now 3rd building as she grew. That says a lot about her practice & its growth. Don't think I've ever had bad service with any one on staff, from front desk to the techs to the vets she's hired. I appreciate the fact that she will hire young vets right out of school as well as some experienced & specialty vets. Just celebrating 25 yrs of service also is a nice statement in its self

I came here after a horrendous experience with a Clayton vet. Everyone here made us feel very welcome and comfortable. I LOVE Dr. Leonard and so do my dogs, Dizzy and Barnsley. My cat, Sassy, did but she died while we were on vacation and Dr. Leonard expressed such sadness and she had only seen her once. My dogs always run to say hi to her compared to shaking and running away. She has called me after surgery to see how Barnsley was doing. She's called to let me know how blood work has turned out. She's called to see if Dizzy has had any further seizures. I've never gotten such care from a doctor before. Thank you. The staff and the vet techs are amazing too. So professional and caring. Thank all of you. You have rebuilt my faith in veterinarians. Thank you for all you do. Thank you from Barnsley and Dizzy, they love you too!

Every time I go to Barrett Station for something, I am truly positively impressed. After each visit, I have to come home and tell my friends how wonderful the experience was. The vet techs are wonderful and really gentle and caring as are the vets. Cant say enough positive.

this one is going to be hard to write. Barrett Vet Clinic has been our primary care for our 3 dachshunds. The main care givers are Dr. Gilje and Dr. John Pletz. 10 years ago we purchased two miniature dachshunds females names Gerti and Trudi or the Gerturdes if you will. Trudi has been blind for a few months diabetic for a few years.Trudi was not an athletic dog nor was she much of a obedience dog. If you called her if she wanted to come she did. If not well she didn't. Trudi back gave out on her and she was in pain. Mrs K. took her here and we had her treated with a steroid shot to help her pain. But deep down we knew this was not going to be good.We had to have Dr. Pletz put her to sleep. She is now in dog heaven where she can see, she can come or not come if she chooses, and no more two shots a day of insulin. Her race has been run and we will miss her.Barrett has a special needs room with an exit that lets you leave without going through the lobby after the event. We did need it. I am lucky that still have Gerti and Maury other two dachshunds.

Dr. Gilje has been my vet for darn near 25 years, thru the ups and downs of many pup-dog illnesses and wellnesses. When we moved to Palm Springs, Ca, one of my main concerns was getting great vet care (been spoiled by the great care at Barrett Station). I use my Palm Springs vets for emergency stuff ( which we try to avoid, but emergency says it all), but, for instance, this summer we drove from Palm Springs to Lake of the Ozarks and on to Barrett Station for dental work on my two pup-dogs and check-up and shots. Love the office personnel (very professional and friendly) and the vets (my fav is Dr. Gilje) are top-class. I never feel like my visits are dollar driven (in Palm Springs, you don't get out of one clinc who shall be not named, for less than $350.00, no matter what, talk about add-ons). Common sense care and the knowledge to back it up.....doesn't get any better than this clinic. Would love it if they would consider opening a branch in Palm Springs......I laughingly told the receptionist I drove literally half-way across the continent to get dental care for my dogs, and I have a hard time driving across the street to get my dental work done, I think I know where my priorities are..

Today I saw Dr. Gijle, who is equally amazing. Everyone is compassionate, gets to the bottom of any issue, and makes sure you are comfortable with what they do and that you understand everything. I always walk away from there feeling like they truly care about me and my pets. Highly recommended.

If your dog has allergies as mine does, Dr. John Pletz and wife are fantastic. My dog literally looked like she was dying. I have followed Dr. Pletz from Webster to Wildwood and now to Barrett Station...
If your dog has allergies as mine does, Dr. John Pletz and wife are fantastic. My dog literally looked like she was dying. I have followed Dr. Pletz from Webster to Wildwood and now to Barrett Station. Millie, my dog, her paws were without hair and bleeding, her skin condition was just awful. Hot spots all the time. I went to him and she looks brand new. Dr. Pletz calls her Million dollar Millie because we have taken so many steps to help her with this condition. I give him 5 arf's.

My dog started off here as a part of a rescue group. I kept taking him there since neutering would be included in my adoption fee at this vet. I haven't bothered switching him over to my cat's vet yet because they're just so darn friendly and convenient. Nice, clean waiting area. Friendly receptionists and great vets. I think I've seen them all, since apparently my dog is prone to issues as a puppy. We're there probably once a month!!Bonus points that they're willing to work with the rescue!!

We followed our vet, Dr. Lynn Pullen, to Barrett Station. It's a drive coming from the city but we love our vet and she loves us, so it's well worth the effort. I have seen a couple of the other vets just a couple of times and have been pleased with both of them. I don't think you could go wrong with any vet in the practice as they all communicate and consult with one another when needed. They also have a referral practice not too far down the road that they aren't shy about consulting when things are out of the ordinary.While this place is definitely not the cheapest vet, I fully believe you get what you pay for where veterinary medicine is concerned. They have a fully updated office, very knowledgeable staff and can do most diagnostic work in house. This combined with a great support staff means we will continue driving to West County for our veterinary needs!

ya gotta love vets like these!no-nonsense - just excellent & gentle care, this clinic has easy access - just south off manchester rd. about 2 miles west of I-270 right after barrett sta. rd.several practicing vets in this office, and every one i've had my cats to see is excellent! this vet clinic outgrew it's original office space and moved into a brand-new building a couple of years ago.their vet techs are wonderful! one of them pet-sits for us when we're both out of town. we've used this clinic since we moved to the area where we live now. i think it's actually in Manchester, though it comes up on yelp as ballwin.dr. gilje (clinic owner) & dr. brooks were both fabulous when our previous cornish rex died. very personal. if you're unfamiliar with cornish rex you can see my post with pics on furry dance cattery, just before this one...

My family and I have taken our dog and cats to Barrett Station Veterninary for many years. They know every thing about each one of our pets. When both our dog and cat were critical conditions they were on call for us 24 hours. There was always a vet on call. We dont trust anyone to take care of our animals except for the vets and staff members at Barrett Station Veterinary.
