We will not be going to this location anymore. It's an absolute joke. Every time we've come here we have requested ahead of time that our pup (who has anxiety towards other dogs) to be able to go into a room as soon as we get there. Our last visit all rooms except one were open and my husband and pup ended up waiting in the rain for about an hour because they refused to give us one of the empty rooms. As I was waiting inside for our pup's name to be called I saw numerous vets standing in a circle just chit-chatting and laughing. There were other animals waiting beaides my pup to be seen. I don't believe the staff here are properly trained to handle high anxiety pups. I saw the woman clipping my nails and she was very aggressive and inpatient with him. He ended up nipping at her face because she was being so rough and invasive with him. Plus after an hour of waiting in the pooring rain I'm sure he had just had enough with their unprofessionalism, as did my husband and myself. Also, waiting an up to an hour for your scheduled app is not uncommon here. Every time we have had a scheduled appointment here we have waited at least over 35 min. They excpect you to respect their time, but they don't respect your time. We will be going to the Chippewa location from now on till our plan expires. Read Less

My dog now has immune system issues because of this place. After his neutering surgery he developed an infection. To fix the problem they gave my dog a steroid shot and antibiotics, which has now caused issues with immune system and allergies. Cost me a lot more money in the long run. Also did test and gave prescriptions without notifying me of cost involved. The whole goal is to up-charge and make money. They are not happy unless your bill breaches $80... on top of the monthly charge. Seemed to me to be a bunch of new vet/vet techs straight out of school. Like the Custom Cuts for your dogs health. You get what you pay for. I wish I could go back in time and not use Banfield. Spend a little more money and go to a real vet. TRUST ME!!!! Read Less

I called in yesterday to get a regular medication filled for my geriatric dog. He has been a patient of the clinic for over 7yrs, including two surgeries for lump removals. I have 3 other pets in addition to this one on their yearly plans. 2 others have had surgeries (bladders stones and torn ACL). I strive to provide the best medical care for my animals. They are my family. We've likely spent upwards of $15,000 on our pets at this clinic over the last 7 years. They are claiming they can't refill the arthritis pain medication without one of the two doctors who has previously physically seen the dog to approve it. Even though it is a regular prescription maintenance medication. This is something we regularly fill with no problem. Apparently neither of those doctors bothered to approve the script yesterday when we calledand now won't be in until Wednesday. In the meantime, my nearly 13yr old dog is to suffer without his arthritis medication.I was offered no other options (besides continue to give him his daily joint glucosamine medicine).Basically they told me to just let him suffer because they can't authorize a refill on a regular maintenance medication before Wednesday (when we called on Sunday to get a simple refill). After Dr Schwartz left the practice, we have been disappointed in a number of things that have changed, but this tops all of that. I guess this clinic doesn't subscribe to the "first do no harm".I'll be immediately taking Max and the rest of the brood to a new Dr and clinic. I'm happy to get their care with a Dr and clinic who actually care. I'll be spending my thousands elsewhere. Read Less

Please if you really care about your pet (and I know you do) don't go to banfield. They always over book themselves and don't take the time for you or your pet that's really needed. They rush through answers to your questions to get to their next appointment. They require you to drop your pet off and leave them there if they need to be seen right away. They're also generally more expensive than a private vet. If you live in the area Brentwood Animal Hospital is close and they're excellent. They really care and are much more knowledgeable. They take all the time in the world for you and your pet and they can generally see a very sick pet right away. They are also less expensive. Read Less

I have taken my rescue yorkie to dr Schwartz ever since I adopted Ozzie 4 yrs ago. My heart was broken when I learned dr Schwartz had moved on to a teaching position. Today Ozzie was seen for what happily turned out to be a cyst phew! We were seen by dr Fesser and her assistant Nathan. They were gentle, thorough and kind when examining and treating Ozzie. They applied the same traits when explaining and teaching regarding her findings and Ozzie's care to me. As much as I greatly miss dr Schwartz, Ozzie and I are both confident and fortunate to continue his care w dr Fesser.Would like to add very happy Peaches and Elinor are still part of the Brentwood banfield family. I have a 4-year-old lab mix that I've been taking to Banfield in Brentwood since June 2012. I've never had any issues until recently. Historically I have never seen the same doctor twice, but my dog is healthy and I didn't have any cause for concern. *Sidenote: I purchase her heartworm through 1-800 Pet Meds because buying it through the vet is outrageously expensive in comparison.* Recently, the management at this location/practice changed and I'm hoping that they are working out their kinks and will be back to normal soon. My dog had surgery last month to remove a small mass on her lip and I was sent home with an anti-inflammatory but not an antibiotic. I only realized it a few days after the surgery because I was reviewing the bill and was charge $30 for meds I didn't receive. At that point, I was told it wasn't worth giving her the medication since she seems to be doing fine and the med is used to fight off any infections immediately following surgery. Obviously, I was not exactly happy about that, but my dog seemed healthy and I was refunded the money. Supposedly the vet called me to give me the lab results from her surgery, but I was on vacation and could have easily missed the voicemail, so this part could totally be my fault. However, I called back two days ago to get the results and was told the doctor wasn't in and he needed to explain them to me personally, so they took my name and told me I would get a call from the vet the following day. I just called (48 hours later) and was finally given the results (by a vet tech, not the actually vet which seemed super important two days ago). My biggest concern right now is COMMUNICATION! They need to work on their in-office work flows and make sure that the needs of the pets and pet parents are actually taken care of. Sending a pet home after surgery without the recovery meds is NOT OKAY! Like I said, in the past four years, the only time I've had issues have been within the last 2 months which is why I'm giving them 4 stars. I'm just hoping they clean up their act and get back to where they were before. Read Less

I've been bringing my two kitties here for routine care for the past 2 years. Both have wellness plans, and it's saved us quite a chunk of money over the years. Dr. Bowen has been our regular doctor and is always really good with them. She explains everything to me and at times has even shown me passages in textbooks so I can understand what is going on (I am a science nerd).A month or so ago, one of my cats ate something and started having a lot of issues. We were in and out of the vet a good 4 days straight. Dr. Bowen went above and beyond to make sure my little guy was ok. She was also very helpful with finding/giving my broke grad-student self the most affordable options. She seems genuinely interested in the wellbeing of my pets. The front desk people have also been very pleasant in all of our encounters. One of the vet techs even knows my kitties' names by memory and says hi to them when we come in! This is the only vet I've used so I have nothing else to compare to, but we are very happy with our treatment at this Banfield :) Read Less

Thank you to Dr. Tom Schwartz and his awesome team at Banfield Pet Hospital of Brentwood for the wonderful care they provide our pets. Dr. Schwartz is the most genuine and caring Veterinarian I have experienced. He was tireless at thinking outside of the box and researching ways to assist our very sick rescue dog. She did not like strangers at all and became very aggressive. Dr. Schwartz took the time to win her over during our first visit. The location is convenient as it is within a Petsmart. This Banfields location is owned and operated by Dr. Schwartz. This is evident as he is so involved with each aspect of your pets care. When he is seeing your pet there is no rush. He takes time to connect with the pet and build trust. He cares for your pets and answers questions as if you are the only patient he has that day. I've heard that Banfield Pet Hospitals can be hit or miss as far as quality service. Prior to March of this year I had only used Banfield (not Brentwood) for grooming services, and when I did, the employees were rude, abrupt, and impatient with "difficult" pets. They also lost my dog's leash more than once, even though it had my dog's name on it. Eventually they found the leash, but it was frustrating to have to make extra trips. So when I was looking for a new vet after moving, I was wary about going to a Banfield.  I went to the Brentwood Banfield on the recommendation of a friend who's a vet tech. She said the Brentwood Banfield is "the only one in the St. Louis area worth going to." After our experiences there, I can at least agree that it's a Banfield worth going to.  My dog visited this Banfield four times, and while at first I was taken aback by seeing three different vets over the course of those visits, they were all very knowledgeable, thorough, friendly, and understanding of my financial situation. It was obvious that they reviewed Tasha's records and they were clear about treatment options. My dog was suffering from kidney failure, and eventually I had to have her put to sleep. The vet who saw her on her last visit (a blonde-haired female, whose name escapes me at the moment) was very caring, understanding, and compassionate. Edit: This Banfield is really great about walk-ins. Two of our four visits were walk-ins, and both times we were seen fairly quickly under the circumstances.I had also taken out the Banfield Wellness plan on Tasha's first visit. Considering the treatments and tests Tasha needed due to her kidney failure, this saved me a lot of money. Had she been healthy and able to have a teeth cleaning, I'm sure I would have taken advantage of that option of the plan as well. When I had her put to sleep, all I had to do was contact Banfield the next day, and they cancelled the Wellness plan with no further balance due. In the short time I had the plan, I saved several hundred dollars compared to what I would have had to pay had I not taken the Wellness plan.  When I inevitably get another dog, I will absolutely come back to the Banfield Pet Hospital in Brentwood, and I will most likely take out the Wellness plan. I adopted a delightful little miniature pinscher from a local rescue, and was super nervous about taking her anywhere -- especially to get shots! Lucky for me, Dr. Schwartz is a total pro, and even my skittish little min pin made it through her routine exam and shots without freaking out.I was somewhat skeptical about the wellness plan packages offered by Banfield -- as a new puppy owner, I'm tempted to buy EVERYTHING for my new best friend, but I'm also aware that some things are over-the-top and not necessary. This? Necessary. I'm totally glad that I decided to opt in. My puppy likes to try eating things that aren't food, and when she gobbled down a shoe insert (I know, right?), I was able to call Banfield and get in right away. Even though it was a Saturday afternoon, they rushed my min pin in and sorted things out in less than an hour. No surgery required, and they even calmed her down and cleaned her up a bit. With that wellness plan? No per-visit charge. I'm crossing my fingers that we don't have any other incidents, but I'm totally confident that the Banfield staff will be great if we do. Read Less

My cat is my baby, and when we moved to Maplewood I wondered if we'd have to drive all the way across the city back to her old vet (at another Banfield) or if we'd find someone good enough close to home. I just needed to get her shots updated, so fortunately we didn't have to rush around with an emergency.I gave this Banfield a shot since we'd had good treatment at the last one, and I was very pleased with the way both I and my cat were treated. The receptionist at the desk was courteous and showed us to a treatment room right away. Everything was clean and tidy - always a good sign.Even though we were just a walk-in, we didn't have to wait long. Dr. Schwarz was prepared when he came into the room. He knew that my cat had been to another Banfield, so he had already looked up her records and immediately began asking me about whether she was still eating well (she'd had IBS and a bowel obstruction in the past) and discussing her diet. I appreciated that he took the few extra minutes to look up her records rather than asking me to try and remember everything in her medical history. He was gentle with her and she didn't fuss when he gave her the shots. Even when she shook her head and the oral medication liquid went all over his lab coat, he just smiled and gave her another, never minding the mess.As we were leaving, I overheard the doctor giving very specific instructions to the volunteer girl about how he expected the room to be cleaned and what supplies to use, and to take extra care looking for droplets of that medicine that may have gotten on the wall. I like to know that any doctor's office cares about cleanliness.Overall, both the cat and I were pleased with our experience at Banfield with Dr. Schwarz. Still, we hope to not need to go back for a long time. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less
