This is a place where I don't care which vet I schedule an appointment with because they are all good. We've been using their veterinary services for years, and even though they are a half hour drive from our house and there are closer vets, we do not plan to change.
The staff is very caring and sensitive to the needs and emotions of pet owners and their pets.

My daughter was referred here by Petsmart. She called and gave symptoms over the phone on Monday, she was given an appointment date for Wednesday. She was told to pick up some type of food to feed the...
My daughter was referred here by Petsmart. She called and gave symptoms over the phone on Monday, she was given an appointment date for Wednesday. She was told to pick up some type of food to feed the little guy until the appointment date. The little guy appeared to be getting better. He was up walking around and being active. We took the little guy in and Dr. Graye examined the little guy. And said he had an URI and was put on antibiotics on Wednesday for twice a day. The first dose was given in the office the second dose was given at home. I asked was it ok to treat a URI with antibiotics, for this particular type of animal she said with confidence “sure!”. Thursday morning he passed away in my daughter’s arms,and We were DEVASTATED! Everyone appeared to be friendly and nice there, but anyone that’s trying to make money will do just that. Their system is horrible. No after hours phone number or emergency phone numbers. His body was still warm so we took him to the ER but it was too late. He was dead. They prepared him for cremation and there was a fee. When doctor Graye’s office opened at 8 a.m. We called and explained what happened they immediately put me on hold to get Dr. Graye she was apologetic and offered to buy back the antibiotics which they did and offered to dispose of the body but that was already taken care of. She immediately started to try and put the blame on us. She says she didn’t understand what happened because he was moving around and everything. I told her I didn’t understand either because he was doing fine until he was placed on antibiotics. She said well maybe he had a stroke or something, because we’ve seen other animals like yours that was critically ill and placed on antibiotics and they recovered. Well after doing a research, we found out that putting this type of animal on antibiotics is TOXIC to their system. It was less than 24 hours after taking him there and he was dead. My daughter cried her little eyes out and I cried as well but I had to be strong for her. My daughter seems to be going into a state of depression. And she’s blaming herself for taking him there. We will truly miss him we really loved our little baby. Please read reviews and do a thorough research before taking your animal to any Vet.

Took two of my dogs in to the clinic. One for routine shots, the other because I was worried about his weight. The doctor reassured us that our dog was ok @ the weight he was, but to be sure we needed to bring a stool sample. The staff are very nice and professional. They have a real love for animals.

I am amazed with Howdershell Animal Clinic and the care that my baby received. Not once did i ever have a bad experience. I would very highly recommend them. I would also revommend Dr. Vandas for your pets care. The way that she took care of mine and the love she showed was beyond anything i have ever experienced from a vet. I would definately go check them out. My whole family goes here and they have never had a bad experience either. Please go see what i am talking about. If i could give more stars i would definately do it. You wont be disappointed.

I trust all the doctors and staff! They are so kind to my Hank :) They just love him and it melts my heart! They were also so compassionate and had great bedside manner when we lost, Diamond. I recommend all my friends and family to Howdershell. They are well educated, kind, and up to date with the latest medical procedures. Kudos to all there!

First off, all of these Veterinarians DO NOT communicate well. Dr. Vandas is very unclear with what a diagnosis may be, and Dr. Toepke does not allow you to speak or ask questions. I had recently brou...
First off, all of these Veterinarians DO NOT communicate well. Dr. Vandas is very unclear with what a diagnosis may be, and Dr. Toepke does not allow you to speak or ask questions. I had recently brought one of my animals to them and was told a various of reasons as to why my animal was sick. I had even asked if through treatment and future therapy if my animal would be okay. Dr. Vandas said as long they are treated, yes. The joy this brought my family to know we weren't going to lose a beloved family member meant the most to us. Unfortunately, a few days later, our beloved animal had passed. Why? Well, we aren't very sure. Until now, I had received a call from Dr. Toepke explaining the condition of my animal and why what happened, had happened. Yet, I could not get a word out when speaking with him. He continuously wanted to talk about how MY ANIMAL could have caused harmed to a fellow employee at this CLINIC. He also felt the need to bring up the fact that " we are both in the medical field. " Despite them knowing my job's name, DOES NOT give him the right to assume what I do for my career. Also, he felt the need to inform me that if precautions and better care of my animal were taken in the past, this could have been prevented. How dare a person tell someone that. So rude and inhumanDR.
The treatment that this facility put my animal through was from a lack of care and understanding. My brother had informed Dr. Vandas that our animal was not breathing well or urinating, yet she claimed it was because of stress and due to certain medications. I will not be returning to this CLINIC. And if I were anyone else, I would advise to go to a different vet office. My animals mean the most to me, so if I have to spend more money than I did here, I will to avoid this place.
Rest in peace, baby. We love you.

First off, all of these Veterinarians DO NOT communicate well. Dr. Vandas is very unclear with what a diagnosis may be, and Dr. Toepke does not allow you to speak or ask questions. I had recently brought one of my animals to them and was told a various of reasons as to why my animal was sick. I had even asked if through treatment and future therapy if my animal would be okay. New to area... took my 8-1/2 year old Aussie in for a general checkup, and because she'd been itching her ears. We had a very good experience. Office staff was friendly, and Dr. Toepke was great... kind, patient, explained things well, took great care of Olivia.As a physician (for people) and lifelong animal lover I consider myself somewhat of an educated consumer... I now have a second Aussie, and will of course be visiting Dr. Toepke and his kind office staff again soon.

My family have been taking our dogs here for years but after last night I will not be returning. Dr.Williams is highly unprofessional in how he speaks to his clients. I took my dog in when I came home from work to find her crying and pacing. I panicked and brought her in. I couldn't believe how the doctor acted once we got her back in the room. Not only was his tone and speech inappropriate for the entire visit, I am incredibly unsatisfied with the level of service, enough that I have doubts as to whether the so-called doctor administered the appropriate care. NOT a business my family will be supporting anymore.

I switched to them a few years ago because they cost less. I stay because the whole staff is so kind and the vets are knowledgeable and provide effective cures. My cat Spiffy had an awful bout of pancreatitis and they got him out of it carefully. Also, he had a mouth infection and they gave him 2 shots last night. This morning he's all better.

I felt pushed through the appointment, as there was no time for me to ask any questions. I won't go back, and dearly miss my now retired, interested and resourceful former veterinarian.

Took my little Hahns Macaw here to get a wellness checkup. This was our very first time and my bird is 6yrs old.We were seen by Dr. Nick Toepke who was assisted by his little daughter who was about 12-14, which was cute. Keegan was very good at the vet that day and there were no problems. He even let the little girl hold him.Dr. Toepke doesn't have any birds of his own and actually only Dr. Wright has any birds at home. I'm also not positive if he is a certified "avian" vet but he handled Keegan well and even told me that he was most likely a female....(I am pretended that I didn't hear that since I can't start calling him a her after all this time). He was highly recommended by my bird's breeder so that's good enough for me. :)Everyone was very pleasant at the office as well, and they do see all typed of animals there. If it wasn't so far away for me I might come more often.

This is a place where I don't care which vet I schedule an appointment with because they are all good. We've been using their veterinary services for years, and even though they are a half hour drive from our house and there are closer vets, we do not plan to change.
The staff is very caring and sensitive to the needs and emotions of pet owners and their pets.

My daughter was referred here by Petsmart. She called and gave symptoms over the phone on Monday, she was given an appointment date for Wednesday. I am amazed with Howdershell Animal Clinic and the care that my baby received. Not once did i ever have a bad experience. I would very highly recommend them. I took my dog in when I came home from work to find her crying and pacing. I panicked and brought her in. I couldn't believe how the doctor acted once we got her back in the room. Not only was his tone and speech inappropriate for the entire visit, I am incredibly unsatisfied with the level of service, enough that I have doubts as to whether the so-called doctor administered the appropriate care. NOT a business my family will be supporting anymore.

I switched to them a few years ago because they cost less. I stay because the whole staff is so kind and the vets are knowledgeable and provide effective cures. My cat Spiffy had an awful bout of pan...
I switched to them a few years ago because they cost less. I stay because the whole staff is so kind and the vets are knowledgeable and provide effective cures. My cat Spiffy had an awful bout of pancreatitis and they got him out of it carefully. Also, he had a mouth infection and they gave him 2 shots last night. This morning he's all better.

This was my first visit to get a yearly check up and shots for my dog. The vet did not check my dogs ears or eyes. I felt pushed through the appointment, as there was no time for me to ask any questions. I won't go back, and dearly miss my now retired, interested and resourceful former veterinarian.

Took my little Hahns Macaw here to get a wellness checkup. This was our very first time and my bird is 6yrs old.We were seen by Dr. Nick Toepke who was assisted by his little daughter who was about 12-14, which was cute. Keegan was very good at the vet that day and there were no problems. He even let the little girl hold him.Dr. Toepke doesn't have any birds of his own and actually only Dr. Wright has any birds at home. I'm also not positive if he is a certified "avian" vet but he handled Keegan well and even told me that he was most likely a female....(I am pretended that I didn't hear that since I can't start calling him a her after all this time). He was highly recommended by my bird's breeder so that's good enough for me. :)Everyone was very pleasant at the office as well, and they do see all typed of animals there. If it wasn't so far away for me I might come more often.
