The staff very friendly and appreciated the quick appointment. I explained to staff what Oscars issue was when arranging appointment. At the appointment I explained again to vet what was going on. Throwing up. I told him I had changed his food thinking he had gotten a reaction from previous food.I told him that I had wormed him since his sickness. I told him possibly I thought Oscar had swallowed a squeaker from his new toy. Oscar had been throwing up for several days. I tried what I knew and what I had researched to do before making this appointment. Vet told me his esophagus could be inflamed swollen!!!! No kidding.. I am guessing that happens to humans and animals when you vomit.. He gave him a shot for "inflammation " and sent me home with medicine. I come home upset over how blahzay and non informative the appointment had been. AND of course Oscar gets sick on the way home. Look up the medication when at home to find out IT is wormer. Hmmm. Thanks!! Makes me afraid to take Oscar to get neutered. What's he going to come home without? I did NOT go to school to be a vet or a Dr. You should be able to trust these educated folks . I had one previous experience with this vet and swore not to go back. But had seen good reviews and thought I would try again But never again. I miss Dr. Means. Looking for new vet. Read Less

My sincere thanks to Dr. Blum and his assistants, they made euthanizing my 33 year old horse, bearable. They explained the entire process so there would be no surprises for me. Took my two dogs in for dentals, one of which was a 13 year old Chihuahua. The staff at Holden took extra care with my Lily and gave her special geriatric tests and treatment. They also provided an extra service of a coating on my pups teeth that helps control tartar. With the elderly dog and an extraction of a tooth on my other dog, the staff at Holden did a top notch job. Thank-you for taking care of my dogs and keeping them happy and healthy. I've been taking my pets there for quite awhile. Love it. Clean, friendly, fast and knowledgeable info you can understand. I feel totally comfortable with the doctor and care my pets are receiving. The prices beat all the vets I have near my home. Worth the drive from Lone Jack to Holden. Even through I have a vet 4 miles from my house I wouldn't use. Took my kitty and dog there this month And they were awesome!! The front desk ladies were sweet and friendly and fast check in and out. The place was clean and welcoming. Dr was great and friendly and helpful. My dog is a major drama queen and acted like she was being murdered but they were still very gentle with her. The tech was very good too. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I only have ONE experience with this vet, and I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK! It takes a lot to get me to write a bad review about anything, and this is one of those times. Monday, I dropped my cat off to be declawed and neutered. Wednesday I picked him up, only to turn around and go back to the vet because he was bleeding horrendously in his crate. The receptionist giggled (trying to make light of the situation) and said "you didn't have a drop of blood on you when I put you in there squirt", to which I told her it wasn't funny. A day after surgery there's no reason to have a pool of blood on the crate floor. They "resealed" his paws, which opened back up again on the way home. They tried to say he could have pawed at the cage door, however my cat was beside me in the passenger seat sleeping. He didn't NOT paw at the cage. When I got him home, I finally got a good look at his paws. They cut a couple pads on his feet, the surgical glue they used has failed to hold, and now he's being seen at another vet due to the absolute horrible job they did! He is in so much more pain than I have ever seen a cat in after a declaw. The prices are cheap because the work is cheap. DO NOT USE THIS VET! Read Less

We didn't think our girl Veda was going to be able to keep her front legs after a bad accident and the doctors and staff took such great care of her for 3 weeks and she is now through the woods and on her way to a full recovery. My dog broke off his canine tooth and it needed removed. Our current vet had retired and we were referred to this clinic as a replacement option. My wife an I both called the clinic to gather info and pricing on the procedure and both were turned off by the ladies who took our calls. They were very short, semi rude and seemed we were a bother to them by asking questions.Read Less

When we moved to Holden from blue springs, I was scared at first to change vets but time and time again, this office has proven to not only be flexible, but also very knowledgeable. They'll come to your home for emergency visits and do surgery on your horse's eye at a very reasonable cost. I won't take my pets anywhere else. Read Less

My parent took their perfectly healthy 2yr old purebred German Shepherd in to be spayed over the weekend and when they went to pick her up she was dead. She was not checked on overnight or in the morning until my mom arrived to pick her up. Incompetent to say the least. They have no idea the pain they have caused to our family.
