My Grand-dog had been throwing up for four days my daughter took him in to a late appointment at this Banfield Vet. The Vet sent Rocko home with antibiotics. My Daughter brought him back to my house. The first thing I asked her was "What did the x-rays show?" She said "Mom they didn't do x-rays" two hours later we were taking Rocko to the emergency vet in lees summit he had a large obstruction in his abdomen, Rocko needed emergency surgery, he had a large piece of plastic stuck in in between his stomach and intestines, his stomach was filled with liquid and they ended up taking out 12 inches of his intestines. The next day I called to withdraw my dog Benny and my Moms dog Abby from their office. I told them what happen. the Vet called my daughter later that day and said the reason she ruled out obstruction was because of Rocko's age, which by the way he is only 7. What in the world did she mean by that? And why would she rule ANYTHING OUT before checking to make sure? Don't put your loved one at risk taking them to this Banfield. Read Less

My dog had a large obstruction in his abdomen and the doctors here sent him home with them he said if he doesn't feel better bring him back in otherwise just take antibiotics. Cut to three hours later I had to take him to the emergency vet and hours later is being taken into emergency surgery now. These doctors although may seem nice have no idea what they're doing. This place is amazing, as are their Doctors. Since I started using them about 6 years ago I have had several pets battle sickness, and several who still have great health. Myself, my family, and my pets have always been treated fairly. I am not jealous a of a vet who has to have a tough conversation with a client about their sick pet, or even discuss funds to fix the issues. This is tough, but they always do it with grace and sincerity. As I own a local pet company I am very experienced with a lot of the local vets, and have also found that their pricing is competitive. I will continue to use Banfield unless my favorite vet leaves. I will then have to sadly leave a company I enjoy, for a doctor who I truly trust! Read Less

I had heard mixed reviews from many people about this place but I wanted some help with my dog Ariel. She was 7 years old and hadn't been keeping down anything, or very little, and we wanted to help her. We went there to see if they could help her and we got her checked out... But they refused to do ANYTHING but just a physical... ALL BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY AND WE COULDN'T GET CREDIT!!! My dog died a week later when she probably could have been saved if they had just helped her. I will NEVER EVER go back to that place. They killed my dog because we didn't have money to pay for the visit... And they wouldn't let us pay in a couple days... DO NOT GO TO THIS EXCUSE OF AN ANIMAL HOSPITAL. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. My family lost $300+ to get x-rays and a general check-up of our 13 year old dog who was in pain, with breathing struggles. He hadn't slept for two days and we were desperate. These vets told us there was nothing serious, but pushed us to pursue further biopsies and tests that would put more strain on my dog and cost upwards of $1,000 total. We decided to wait. I'm glad we did, because we went to another vet who found that my dog had easily diagnosable heart disease (they found this from a simple x-ray) and just needed medication. This visit took less than an hour and cost only $88 dollars. However, due to visiting Banfield the day before, my dog had to go through another restless night, clearly in pain due to his labored breathing and crying. I'm not sure if these vets don't know what they are doing or if they wanted more money from us, but either way - it caused my dog to be put through another night of pain and I'm unbelievably disappointed about the service my family received. I took my dog to this Banfield for four years until we had to move out of state. I continue to use my local Banfield and it makes me appreciate the staff at the Independence, MO office so much more. The staff here are great! They made us feel like members of a family. They always knew who I was when I walked through the front door. The care given to my dog was top-notch. Wish we didn't have to move away. :( Our new Banfield will get a much lower rating. Read Less

The staff were extreemly friendly, accomidating even for a last moment arrival. And you can tell they love their pets. My poo had a minor ear infection but I'm sure they would be as proffesional with more dire issues. Read Less

I have been to several Banfield (a Petsmart Store vet)  locations around the country. Literally. So I was excited to see that there was on in Independence when I moved to town. After scheduling a routine visit for my doggie, I was surprised to see the actual Banfield facility so immersed into the store itself - usually they are quite separate from the retail section of Petsmart. The gal working behind the desk wasn't too warm to our arrival, and without any introduction took my doggie for her procedure without talking with me or inquiring about the dog. Every other Banfield has allowed me to be present in the room when my dog - this one didn't even give me the option. After waiting longer than usual, I finally went into the examining room to find my doggie just sitting there with no one around. She was so terrified and scared and thrilled to see someone who actually cared. Worst of all - the bill was 3x more than at the local place in Lee's Summit. I immediately cancelled my insurance plan with Banfield and won't be back. Sad. Read Less
