I can't believe I haven't written a review about this place yet. I've had dogs all my life and have never been as impressed with and confident in a vet as I am with Dr. Rowe. I'm sure this review will be on the long side but I just have so many good things to say!We started going here back in 2011 when we lived less than ten blocks away, We have since moved, and despite being closer to many other good veterinarians, we still go to Aid because I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. The entire experience is always wonderful. When you first call to make your appointment, the ladies at the front desk are always so polite and friendly. It's the same when you get there to check in. When I walk in, they know who I am and which dog I have with me. Obviously a vet is someone you don't want to have to visit too often, but when that is the case, they make the best of it.On a side note, while checking in one time, One of the other ladies was answering phones, and I suddenly heard her voice and demeanor completely change from friendly and up beat to concerned and sympathetic. I realized that the person on the line was calling to schedule an appointment to have their dog put to sleep, and I was just so touched by how understanding and supportive she was being. When you have to make such a difficult decision, the last thing you want to hear is someone being business-like and emotionless.I've never had to wait long at all once in the waiting room. Once in the exam room, Dr. Rowe is fantastic. He remembers my dogs, and he will often times even ask about how the other ones are doing. Especially if one has been in lately for an issue, he'll ask how that's going. He is very thorough and does such a fantastic job of explaining things. When talking about medical issues or dog anatomy, he doesn't talk down to you at all, he talks to you like an equal. It really lets me feel like I can actually make an informed decision about my pet's care when I feel like I have a more in depth understanding of what's going on. So I really appreciate all the information he gives. I also love that I can ask for his opinion on anything and get a good response from him, and the reasons why he feels that way. With a vet, I want someone who I can ask "if it was your dog, what would you do?" and get a real answer, and with Dr. Rowe, I can.Another thing I love is how he doesn't settle. He is always working to learn more about new techniques and treatments, and just more about animals and specific breeds in general. On some visits, I'll be there for a specific issue with one of my dogs, and he'll tell me how he was recently at conference or something where he had gone to a talk on that specific issue, and here are some of the new things he picked up from it. I am much more comfortable trusting my pets to someone who is always trying to learn more, as opposed to someone who got their degree years ago, and hasn't done any refreshers or additional learning since. When one of my dogs had a collapsed lung, everything I read about the issue talked about how surgery was the best option. But I knew that was a very expensive option, as well as a very intrusive option for my dog, who was getting up there in years. They thought it would be best to try and treat his lung medicinally rather than surgically, and lo and behold a few months later the x-rays showed the lung had opened back up. Knowing that 90% of other vets would have just told me to get surgery, stuff like this is why we love Aid Animal Hospital so much!In 2012, my dog passed away unexpectedly. Due to the circumstances, we had to take him to an emergency vet across town, but sadly he didn't make it. I was beyond crushed. In the mail, I received a beautiful sympathy card from them, as well as a note that they had placed my dog in a memorial naming program at a local rescue, who would then name one of their incoming rescue dogs in honor of my pet. I was beyond touched by this. They didn't have to send me a sympathy card, and they went above and beyond to let me know my pet was loved. And all this, when he didn't even pass away at their facility.I could go on for hours and hours about all the things I love about Aid. But to summarize all of my feelings, I feel so lucky to have found a place to take my dogs that is outstanding in both the level of care/treatment they provide, as well as the level of service.
