I can not say enough thanks to the team at Banfield. Shanna is my favorite. Her and the docs are the only reason I stay. Although they have had some team concerns, having Shanna move up was the best decision they made since I've been going there. They've been there through some tough times with my doggie kiddos. One of my dogs has a social issue and very scared. My dogs love Shanna. They go right to her. She is such a good spirit, even the kiddos can pick up on it. They may be busy at times but try everything they can to get them in and if it's an emergency those kiddos go first. Top Notch Team. Keep it up guys! Read Less

I have been paying banfield for over 10 years for my two pets( dog and cat) eventhough the appointments are included, when there is a real need for an appointment, there is no availability, so they send me to Blue Pearl, and I end up paying over $100 for consultation. My cat Nutella was bitten by something and had an open wound. As soon as I saw the wound, I noticed necrosis of the tissue(I am not a doctor; I’m a housewife) the doctors noticed nothing mayor)they were too busy since that business is packed and they don’t have to enough vets. Next day I took the cat to blue pearl(because the wound was twice the size of the day before, and banfield had no available appointments. The next morning I went to banfield because the wound got even bigger. They did not see the cat(as I said, they had no time). I was so mad at them that I picked up my cat and left. About 40 mins after, the manager called me screaming and threatening me saying that she was going to do something if I don’t pay them the bill. At that point I asked: what bill? I paid monthly and there is nothing done to the cat. She was ballistic against me. I had to o take the cat to other vet and immediately she got hospitalized. I cancelled the plan since it’s a total rip off. They don’t care for the ones that have a plan. They prefer people that pay full price cash. Don’t waste your money. This is a rip off business. And they won’t care about your pet; just your money. Read Less

I cannot thank the Banfield staff enough for all that they do! I have 2 very large and crazy dogs, and we blow through anywhere like a wildly embarrassing tornado. I have been a customer of banfield since getting my dog. Enrolled her in the wellness plan that yes is expensive but it gave me a peace of mind if anything happened with my dog they would be there for her. This is completely wrong. Saturday night my dog ripped open her ear and it wouldn't stop bleeding. I tried all the online ideas to get it to stop, applied pressure..Nothing worked. Ended up taking her to blue pearl because banfield was closed. This is not the complaint. The complaint is the next morning after being at Blue pearl until midnight my dog got her wrapping off and started bleed all over again. I called the banfield in tiffany springs and got a quick "sorry we can't help you, call another store"....this is the location she is seen at. As a place that has "emergency vet" in its name and has signs saying that emergency pets come first, this was off putting but I did what she said and called 3 other stores. All gave me the exact same response. "Sorry we can't help you, call another store we are to busy to see your dog"  I ended up having to go back to blue pearl which wad 30 minutes away while by dog is bleeding because banfield....a place I trusted my dogs health when it was needed, refused service. When I called to remove her from the wellness plan explaining why the lady did not seem to care, and just said she couldn't help me, but to call another number. When I asked to speak to a manager, she said there wouldn't be one in until Tuesday but she would look into leaving him a message. When you need them most....don't trust banfield to be there for your dog. Read Less

I can only say ugh ugh and more ugh! Lots of up-charging ideas and encouragement for additional and unnecessary items. This happens every time you go in. I started off with them a while back and it was fine when I was able to stay at the appointments with my cat. They were able to do take blood and give him his shots with no problems. Then they started wanting me to drop him off and this when things went downhill. They were not able to do anything for my cat. Of course, they wanted me to pay 120.00 to sedate him because he was a problem. I opted not to do this. I wanted them to provide his shots which they would not do. They did not even take off the leashes they had put on the cat at their facility when I got him. It was a horrible experience and I will never go back. There are plenty of options for your pets and I recommend finding another place so you can make sure your pet is safe. And, that you are not being taken advantage of. I am really surprised by the negative reviews. We have two dogs and two cats. We have used this Banfield for about 3 1/2 years and we love them. We have never had an issue and when I have needed an emergency appointment they have always fit us in the schedule. I think we have seen all of the vets at this practice and they have all been very caring, warm and qualified to do any procedure necessary. We have never had more than a 10 minute wait. We are greeted by name as is our dog/cat. I have also called a few times just for advice on an issue and they have always answered my questions. I will not go anywhere else and I highly recommend them. Read Less

December  5th, 2014Banfield Pet HospitalP.O. Box 13998Portland, Oregan  97213Attention:  Client Advocate TeamI am sending you this letter to inform you of a situation that took place at one of your locations. I feel that when situations occur such as the one I experienced, someone at the corporate level should be made aware as to insure that quality care can be maintained.  On Sunday, November 30th, 2014 my mother and I took my two dogs to the grooming salon at the Petsmart located at 8970 N.W. Skyview Ave., Kansas City, MO 64154 to get nails trimmed and a sanitary trim.  As always, the groomers were very kind to both myself and my little dogs.  However, when Lily, my 9 year old teacup Chihuahua was getting her nails trimmed, she yelped loudly and began bleeding profusely from her foot.  The groomer was able to get the bleeding stopped but we could tell Lily's little paw was bothering her.  The groomer said that Banfield was closed, but if I felt like she needed to be seen to return on Monday and Banfield would see her at Petsmart's expense.  I explained to the groomer that I could not be there before 6:00 p.m. as I work in the downtown area.  She said as long as I got there before 6:30 p.m. it would be fine.  I had my mother pick Lily up from my house and meet me at Petsmart in order to make sure of a timely arrival.  We went to the area where Banfield is located and explained what we were there for to an employee named Shirone.  Shirone said that they couldn't see Lily, but further more informed us that they are "Not related to Petsmart", which we were well aware of.  She then said that even if they were able to see Lily that emergency after hours fees would be charged.  I told her that the charges would be sent to Petsmart, as they sent us to them.  She got very defensive and again told us that they were not affiliated with Petsmart.  Shirone was VERY rude and indignant!  My mother then went into the grooming salon to tell them what had transpired.   The manager of the salon found the notes in the computer that the groomer had entered and went back to Banfield with us.  She kindly explained to them what had happened and asked if it were possible that a vet could see Lily.  She again told her no, it was impossible.  However, the manager asked if a vet tech could look at her.  After much consideration on the part of Shirone, a tech came out in the waiting area and agreed to look at her foot.  He saw the swelling and where the nail had been cut and advised us of what to do and look for as far as infection.  He was very nice and professional and for that we are grateful.  Shirone continued to roll her eyes at us which was not professional in any manner.  She was very curt, disrespectful and rude.  I wouldn't think that Banfield would want that type of employee at the front desk greeting patients!  I was so very frustrated at not being treated in a manner that a customer should be treated.  Customers who were around the area heard what was going on and were surprised that an employee of Banfield was far from professional, rude and flippant with the situation of a little 5 pound dog in pain due to the grooming salon that they share space with!  Not only were her words curt and rude, but her body language said it all regarding her care for the customers of Banfield.  I hope you will review this matter and resolve some issues that would be beneficial to the operation of the location that I visited.Respectfully,Kristen Read Less

Oh my goodness, there is not enough time to type the stories I could share about this vet clinic.  Bottom line:  It is worth the yearly membership to have dogs teeth cleaned and basic immunizations taken care of.  (Local vet offices charge more for the cleaning than a Banfield yearly membership costs.)  I would recommend your local vet for ANYTHING other than cleanings and basic immunizations. You have to walk into this clinic with your "mean mama" persona because they will invariably try to sell you soooooo many "goods and services" and it can be confusing at the time.  I have also noticed that if someone is sitting on the bench crying (sadly, I have seen this several times, though I'd guess there are plenty who have cried in private exam rooms), one of the ladies at the counter will "reassure" them by explaining that they too have paid thousands of dollars to Banfield in specialty testing and treatment charges.  These employees seem VERY well versed in the art of salesmanship.  I have never seen anything like it.  Also, if you have been a pet owner as long as we have, you know that there is an eventual and inevitable end to a pet's happy life.  The end should not include prolonging their suffering (and the families emotional suffering).  From the discussions I have heard at Banfield, the "end" means socking a few thousand out of the pet owner.  I really cannot recommend this business for anything other than the very basic basics. I'm disgusted and appalled at this so called scam of a place that masquerades as a  veterinarian office. I took my cat to have a bump on her head looked at, and I know as much about it now as I did prior to taking her there. My first issue: I stood at the check in desk waiting for Hannah and Joyce to finish their conversation. Joyce turned her back to the desk facing Hannah while they both discussed whatever was more important then checking me and my cat in for her appointment. My second issue: Amanda came in and told me my cat was obese, yes  I know that but I'm here for a medical problem, and how she wanted to get her on prescription food. I told her I didn't remember the brand I was advised before but it should be in their computer because my other cat comes here. Well,  wouldn't you know it, they couldn't find that information. Amanda then proceeded to tell me that for $400.00ish I could enroll her in a Active Prevention Wellness program, and additional 24.00ish a month they could add on PLUS Active Prevention Services ..I wish I could remember it all but she threw a bunch of figures at me. She said these programs covered vaccinations, x-rays for preventive care, dental cleanings, blood work, BUT it didn't cover medical problems. Amanda listened to her heart for 5 seconds and then told me my cat was probably miserable because she's so obese and told me how to go about changing her feeding schedule and even though she may look happy she's miserable because of her weight.  Then the above program was discussed again, more briefly this time. Amanda pulled up the program on the computer and said, oh yeah there is a start up price of $38.00 and some monthly fee, all of this was a year contract. My third issue: the doctor comes in and BIG SURPRISE, says oh my, you are a big kitty. (My cat is 15lbs, big but not something to write home about). She said Amanda was really excited to talk to me about her being overweight and how to fix it. The dr. looks at the bump for 10-15 seconds and says yeah, I think it's a sebaceous cyst and for $1000.00 they could cut it out, and send it away for biopsy, or, for $250.00 they could "skirt around it" and put her under to clean her teeth and cut it out and send it for biopsy which would be around  $400.00 and save myself a couple hundred dollars, OR I could purchase the Wellness program and then I'd only have to pay the additional $400.00 for sending it to be biopsied while she was under for her dental cleaning. I told her financially this wasn't feasible. She said well you could watch it and try antibiotics. I opted for that. She priced out an injection which cost $72.00 ( which she LOVED,) or oral antibiotics which was $32.00. She said she hadn't priced out antibiotics for a cat as obese as mine in a long time. (I get it!!! My cat is fat, I knew that!!!) Finally my last issue: all was fine checking out, final bill was $107.51. Here comes Amanda. She pulls out a calculator to calculate how much food my giant, offensively obese cats should be eating. As she's doing the calculations I look at the package and say, "about 2/3 cup?" She pushed a bunch of buttons and says, "yeah, about 2/3 cup". She said to bring them back in for a weight check in a few months. Yeah right, I'M NEVER COMING BACK!!!  You people don't give a shit about anyone's animals. You're only out for money. You're strictly a business who impersonates a veterinarians office. I'll be finding a better, caring, less corporate place for my cats future visits. Read Less

I've used Banfield's for my dogs for 3 years now because I travel a lot and that way their records are always accessible. But this was the 3rd strike for this one so I won't be returning. I walked in for a nail trims, which I took time off work to do, and there wasn't anyone there except the receptionist. She told me they couldn't do them because everyone was gone. I have never had to call ahead before. And why would everyone go to lunch at the same time at a "retail" business, where they advertise they allow walk-ins?!?!? I complained to the greeter on the way out and she told me they are always supposed to have someone available. The last time they charged me for nail trims but they didn't appear to actually have cut them. It's only been 3 weeks since their last trim and my Chi's nails are so long they're curling under! I joined yelp just to warn y'all about these people. The appointment was made for my boyfriend's dog and he spoke on the phone to a woman several times and arranged exactly what he wanted done. Once there, that same woman said hello but allowed other employees to handle myself and the dog. After giving all my information at the front desk I sat in the exam room and had to give nearly all that information once again. And this woman had no clue what my boyfriend had arranged. In short, all that time and effort we put into setting up our appointment was wasted. In addition to their inefficiency, this woman was shamelessly attempting to convince me to purchase a more expensive care plan for the dog. I felt the boyfriend was being silly in even purchasing the basic plan which is mostly unnecessary care for a healthy dog, but I respected his choice. This woman- Amanda or something- spoke to me as if it were my job to go home and convince my boyfriend to pay an additional hundred dollars for teeth cleanings. I waited alone in the room for a while and texted my boyfriend. He was shocked that this woman had been so rude in trying to upsell us, and he let me know that the woman he spoke to- I believe it was Joyce- had PROMISED him a no-pressure environment. I was enraged. The woman came back into the exam room and I asked if I was free to walk out without being charged. She stated that they had yet to do any procedures, so yes. I said ok, and got up to leave. She then said, "Well we'll probably have to charge you for an office visit." as I stormed out and slammed the door. Do yourself a favor and go to a real vet. I really felt like I should have gotten a better visit.  My cat had a UTI and I needed to get her in quickly, and they arranged that and informed me that she would be seen around 9am.  I explained that she probably has hairballs and a UTI and I'm feeding her treats for the hairballs.  I was aware of what she needed, I just needed the prescription.  I got a call where they wanted me to do a full battery of tests, I said okay because she hasn't been to the vet in a couple of years, but I didn't really think it was necessary because all she needed was the test for the UTI really.  Other than the UTI she appears quite healthy and happy normally and I had explained that as well.  The tests cost almost $200 and I have gotten tests that were similar done for half that price. They said there might be a small chance of diabetes but I felt like it was stress and know enough about cats having worked at Petco before that I didn't feel like this information was accurate.  Finally around 1pm I was getting tired of waiting so I called them up and got to speak with the vet for about 3 minutes.  I realize I was a walk-in but I really expected to speak with the vet for longer than 3 minutes.  I was told my cat would be out in about 30 minutes and I waited another hour and a half before my cat was let out.  I was waiting and then informed that Daisy could leave, but no one ever notified me until I showed up in person.  I explained I wanted to talk to the vet about food and specifically Wellness food for her,  but was encouraged to book a follow up visit instead.  Um, really?  That was what really got me was not really even getting to talk to the vet and instead, I'm supposed to spend MORE MONEY and book a follow up visit.  Hello, I am not well-endowed with money here, and this visit alone cost about $300 minus the exam that I had a coupon for.  All in all they prescribed two medicines, gave her a rabies shot, and the full exam was $175, and they expressed her anal glands.  I want my cat to be healthy and happy but I do not need extra visits that will accomplish probably another 3 minute conversation!!!  I understood that yeah, the cat has had a long day, I mean six hours at the vet seems a bit much, but please, at least offer to let me wait for the vet if he is busy.  I found out later that he also mentioned in the paperwork that she probably needed a dental cleaning, but I notice he never mentioned that to me in our three minute conversation.  I really feel that if I am going to spend this much money, it warranted a much better visit.  I am just lucky that I had a coupon for a free visit, otherwise it would have been OVER $300!  Long and short of the story: find a vet that will give you a good visit, this place is obviously treating animals like they are on an assembly line.  I actually felt kind of like I was at an automotive shop rather than a veterinarian.. I have never had a vet that was this personable and so good to us. You would think that because they are a chain they would be impersonal and expensive but in fact it is the opposite. We have 3 pets, including a cat who is deathly afraid of vets and a dog who is anxious and reactive to new people, but these vets know how to approach each and every kind of animal. We love them and our pets do to. I would highly recommend them especially to someone with anxious animals. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less
