We have used Crest animal hospital for 20 years. They have taken amazing care of our two dogs. We recently had to put our second dog down due to cancer. We stayed in the room with her. Dr Lyle stayed with us for a while. He told us to stay as long as we wanted too. They also let us pay later when we picked up her ashes. That was so thoughtful and kind. Dr Lyle is wonderful! I dont like their euthanasia practice. I wanted to be with my cat when he passed, ((like was with my other cats but at a different vet)) they seemed surprised by that, and I got the feeling they didn't want us there. She tried to just stab him with the needle in his chest but my sick baby had strength enough, to move away and not stay still, so she says I'm gonna take him to the back and get him something to relax.... first off that's what I thought that stuff was she tried to give him, when she came back after a long while, my cat was dead, she put him to sleep in the back without me, and she had put him in a old medical supply box with a puppy pad covering him, and I'm sure she didn't give him anything to relax. 😢 Read Less

I took my dog in last week to be neutered. Everyone was helpful, friendly, and professional. This office was recommended by someone. I had to take one of my 16+ kitties in but unfortunately he was in kidney failure and had to be sent over the Rainbow Bridge on Jan 20th. Dr. Lyle was so good and thru my tears I appreciated the way he handled things. They sent me a card and inside that card was Smokeys paw print. Crest animal hospital has been absolutely amazing. I first went there when I needed surgery for my cat, and once they took him they kept me updated throughout the entire process, even checking up on him 2 weeks after the surgery when he was at home to make sure he was doing ok. I’ve continued to take our cats there and they have been nothing but accommodating and loving towards them, taking special care to check up on my cats after certain treatments or check ins (the doctor ...are the ones actually calling, which personally has never happened before in all the clinics we’ve previously gone to). I have never had such a great experience with a Doctor before! Dr Lyle is wonderful! He truly cares for your pets has if they were his own. He has personally made update phone calls and check ins on our cat after he was sent home from a somewhat lengthy stay at Crest animal hospital.Dr Petifurd also helped care for my ill cat and she was also wonderful! She spoke to me when I was very anxious and worried and her bedside manor helped to ease me. I have hit the jackpot in finding such a wonderful place to care for my furkids! Our rescue took in a puppy that someone brought to us saying he had been abused and the abuser had broken his leg. We were referred to Dr Lyle by our vet, after she determined that he needed more extensive surgery than she could provide. Dr. Lyle got him right in, and initially thought he could save his leg. Once in surgery, he determined the damage was too great, and he needed his leg amputated. The puppy has made a full recovery and acts as if nothing ever happened. Where do I begin? Crest was recommended to me by a friend and our grand-dog needed to be seen quick. He was lethargic, refusing to eat or drink, and had lost control of his bladder. When we were seen, we were treated like a concerned parent. Our visit wasn't rushed, the vet took the time to explain his concerns and the tests he would run. Our grand pup had to stay over night and Dr. Lyle notified us immediately of all results. The next day we were allowed to bring our pup hom...e, but I wanted to bring in our other dog who we had just rescued from Wayside Waifs before. He had broken out into some rash all over his body. Dr. Lyle took a skin scraping and discovered a sensitive reaction to chiggers that would burrow under the skin and continue to bite, causing our dog to itch like crazy. What I loved was that Dr. Lyle allowed me to look under the microscope at the chigger too! Not a fun thing to happen to your dog, but it was really meaningful to be allowed to check it out too. Through out our entire experience, I was very pleased. We were seen in a timely manner and treated with respect while not feeling like the vet was just in & out.. After trying other vets I've come to the conclusion that Crest is on the lower end of average. The staff is friendly like most, but I feel that a sentence I heard from one of the vets when the door to the back room swung open ("I'm going to see if I can get some money out this guy.") was exactly my experience. In 30 minutes they gave me a nearly $300 bill, a bottle of antibiotics, and a line about a $1000 test that may point them closer to why my dog was acting mopey. Unrelated to the visit, my own search for treatments lead me to some reviews about his food causing similar behavior. I changed his food and he quickly improved. In the few other vets, I've dealt with over the years most have been more engaged and informative for much smaller bills. Read Less

Crest Animal Hospital and Dr.Lyles are Godsends. My youngest cat Smokey was rushed to the ER on New Years day with symptoms of a blockage. We learned that he had a urinary obstruction they needed to be removed ASAP. The ER's quoted procedure cost was extremely high and not feasible for my family's budget. I was referred to Dr.Lyles (Crest Animal Hospital) by the Pet Connection KC on Sunday night. We called Dr.Lyles to leave a voice message assuming that he would not possibly answer the phone on New Years night, but he did answer and he was eager to assist us. He answered all of my questions and explained my financial obligation in a non threatening manner. We were happy to schedule Smokey's surgery with Dr.Lyles as their treatment cost was significantly lower than the ER's quote.The next morning we dropped Smokey off to the loving and caring hands of Crest Animal Hospital. Throughout Smokey's three day stay I received multiple check-in calls from Dr.Lyle directly. I was not expecting to even hear form the hospital but to have the doctor call me himself was above and beyond my expectation. furthermore, meeting Dr.Lyles in person was a great pleasure as he took time out to answer all of my questions, explain my discharge/at home duties, and even gave our family a larger cat carrier so that Smokey would be more comfortable. The vet herself was awesome - so nice. Answered all my questions and really was amazing. The desk staff? They couldn't care less if you existed. I don't think the woman ever looked at me in the eye, even. The waiting room and facilities were clean looking - the one big exception: the scale had pee just sitting on it, and after a lady was in there with a Parvo scare, so that turned me way off. They wanted my dog on there before they even bothered to clean it, so that made me nervous. I'll come back, but I won't rave about them. Read Less

Best vet I've ever been to! I recently moved here and my beloved German Shepherd got sick. When I took her in Dr.Lyle informed me she had terminal cancer. I was completely devastated by the news because my pets are my family. Dr.Lyle was absolutely amazing in the way he cared for my baby. He took the time to explain what was happening and encouraged us to call any time of day if we needed him. He called us to check on her throughout and even though we had to put her down the compassion Crest gave me, my beautiful dog, and my family during those horrible days are greatly appreciated!  Dr. Lyle was able to cremate her for us and all was at a very reasonable price. The staff also took the time to send us a sympathy card with a copy of her paw print. Even if I lived farther out I would be willing to drive to take my pets to Dr.Lyle. I have being going Crest for well over ten years now and I only trust Dr Lyle with my fur babies. My first experience with John was when I took my dog Sasha to him for swelling in the stomach. He did sadly told me he didn't think she would make it through the weekend. I took her home to say goodbye and sure enough she collapsed that Sunday night. I called him late in the night and he met me at the clinic and put her to rest in my arms in the back seat of my neighbors car. He recently took great care of my dog Freckle who needed surgery after a dog fight. We were daily visitors so Dr Lyle could make sure he was healing well and to drain his wounds. John, Stacy, and his kids have become like family and they will always have my business. If they leave Crest I will follow them to the next clinic, granted it's still in KC. Read Less

I live near the Country Club Plaza where I have the choice of half a dozen veterinarians in  the vicinity.  But I drive all the way out to 115th and Hickman Mills for a reason, actually several reasons - because of their dedication, professionalism, and most of all, compassion. We were first referred to Dr. Lyle because our Pug might need surgery. He was professional enough to send us on to Blue Pearl. Then when we had a Sunday emergency, he and I texted each other, all the while he was at an airport in Ohio. My animals have been patients of Dr. Lyle and his associates for many years and have enjoyed their gentle, caring methods of ensuring their health and well-being. Last year my golden retriever became ill and we though we might have to euthanize her. I brought her to the clinic, unsure of whether or not I was doing the right thing. She had a pretty serious condition and it could have gone either way. The doctors let me know that the decision was mine and that there was no wrong move. They told me my options and made me feel confident in my decision to try medications to relieve her symptoms. It worked and she did quite well for the most part until about two weeks ago. I went back and got more medication but unfortunately this time it didn't work and she continued to go downhill. Today I took her to Dr. Lyle for the last time. It was an incredibly comfortable experience, albeit very sad, he and his staff were very supportive, caring and compassionate not only towards me, but more importantly towards my dog Rylee. I was able to be right there with her as she quietly and calmly went to sleep and out of pain and discomfort. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone who loves their pet. I live nearly 30 minutes away and in an area with many veterinarians but choose to travel the extra distance because of the outstanding care we receive here. Not only is the care above reproach, the costs for their services is far less than most others in the Kansas City area as well. Crest Animal Hospital is one of KCs best kept secrets. Read Less

I have been taking my pets to Crest for the last four years.  I have been extremely happy with every doctor there.  Dr. Lyle did a surgery for my mutts leg and also helped us through the process of letting go of my beagle that had cancer.  He and the staff were amazing during that process.  I use to work at a vets office and know to look for certain things to ensure my pets are being well cared for while they are boarding.  I would not trust my pets to anyone else.  We've seen Dr. Lyle and Dr. B on several occasions and they are both wonderful.  Even after just annual check ups, they have called to see if I had any follow up questions or concerns. I always ask for Mr. Dr. Lyle but both husband and wife are here as vets and a couple of others.  I trust them and they are super nice. I love the separate entrance for cats and dogs so that your not sitting net to a breed that could stress your pet out. Dr. Lyle came highly recommended by a friend so I finally switched and I could not be happier. This has been my favorite vet clinic since I've been in Kansas City.  I've gone to two vets in KC aside from Crest and there is just no comparison.  Crest is located in Grandview and it's kind of a pain to get to, but the service more than makes up for it.  The two main vets are a husband and wife team and the whole clinic has a very 'family' feel to it.  I feel that they genuinely care for every animal that comes through their door and I'm always impressed with the lengths they will go to to ensure that your pet is will taken care of.  The vets have always provided a home phone number for after hour emergencies and have even been kind enough to stay open late or come in early to accommodate my crazy work schedule.  As far as pricing...there is NO competition.  I've compared their prices with other vets in the area and have found Crest to be considerably less expensive with no compromise in service.  If your pet is a part of your family, I highly recommend Crest.
