I've been taking my furbaby to Dr. Armstrong since we got him as a puppy six years ago and he loves it. The original vet we no longer see, I believe his son has taken over or grandson, but, the care my baby receives is top notch. The remodel and expansion of the hospital is great. Read Less

Just got off the Phone with them after taking our new kitten to get spayed to pay my bill. I'm thinking $100-$150 for all the work. Nope, $317, We have taken our all of our animals there 5 cats currently, a bulldog, for as long as I can remember but, will never be back. Should have given an estimate or something on that so I wasn't in such shock because I have 2 more at home that need to be fixed within the month. How does this place have a good rating? I'm disgusted by the way this place treated my family. I came home from work and my 4 year old cat was not breathing well, so with limited time to get him seen we walked into here 15-20 min before closing time but we were turned away and referred to the emergency vet without even so much as a peek to determine if our situation was dire or not . If you guys want to close at 5:30, change your hours. In the least, have the common decency to do a welfare check before dismissing anyone. I shouldn't have to say this, but anyone who works in patient care should be caring and compassionate. No one should ever feel like we felt especially when one of your family members are in distress. We ended up making it to a competitor with 5 min before closing. They met us at the door and took care of us immediately, they were compassionate, caring, and treated us with respect. You could take a page out of their playbook. We will never ever set foot inside this building and I will make sure none of my friends do either. Sadly we live close. Read Less

We were referred to PWAH for our Frenchie's pregnancy. We have had the absolute most amazing experience with all of the vets here. They are not only amazing at what they do, but they truly care about their people and pet patients. As the time for the puppies to be born has drawn closer, we have received phone calls to check on out baby and any time we have had questions or concerns they have been amazingly responsive even on nights or weekends. Little man is home and resting. Eating and drinking well and is taking his meds without too much trouble. He isn't a fan of the ointment that goes on his eye though. He won't get the sutures in his eye out for two weeks so we won't know if his vision is restored until then. I have taken all my animal friends to Dr Armstrong for over 20 years. I recently lost my 15 yr old Shih Tzu and my 11 year old Bernese Moutain Dog. They had long healthy lives up to the end. I can say that ALL the staff did everthing they could to give them every chance to live. All with loving care. Newer Dr Tyler was very informative and compassionate. When I say all the staff that includes the gals up front that took my fearful calls and the groomer that took special care with my old boy and stopped when he needed. Always keeping me updated. Now I have a new baby and he has already gotten to know everyone and had his first groom. He came home happy and handsome. I trust everyone there to treat my babies with TLC. I brought my furbaby there because she wasn't doing well at all. Ended up being our 1st & last time there. The staff were very patient with me while waited to get my funds together for the unexpected expense. All the while they'd already started to do a blood screen and start an IV. Blu stayed overnight and Dr. Tyler called me 1st thing this morning to let me know that despite their efforts, she'd passed on. They gave me the day to make her arrangements and even gave me some privacy in a room to say goodbye. It was truly wonderful for my baby to be treated like my family. We had a bad boarding experience. We needed something on short notice. They were able to accommodate us with that. I was not happy that I couldn't pick up my pets on Sunday and that meant paying for two nights instead of the one night I needed, but because they were taking us the day we called we were willing to pay the extra night. When I arrived on Monday morning I paid the $127 bill before my pets were brought out to me. They brought me their bedding next. It was wet to the touch. I asked why it was wet. The employee told me water must have spilled on it. I put some of it in the kennel and left the blanket out since it seemed to have most of the water on it. The dogs came out next (8 pounds apiece). The were nervous but glad to see me. One looked especially dirty but she was also the most nervous. I loaded them quickly and went to the parking lot. I opened the car and put the kennel in. I noticed a strong smell of urine. I then took the wet blanket and started to fold it to put it in a plastic bag. When I unfolded it, feces fell out on the ground. I went into the clinic and asked to speak to someone. They brought out the manager of the boarding area who said it must have just happened because they changed the bedding. No apology or compensation offered. I was floored. I also found out, after the fact, that $127 for a two night stay is outrageous. I will never use this facility again and will not recommend anyone else do so either. I immediately brought my dogs home and bathed them. They slept most of the day and seemed very stressed. They are fine now but we will be doing a lot more research before leaving our animals again.Read Less

We were super pleased with our first visit. Dr. Tyler Armstrong was very informative, and friendly. It's nice to meet a down to earth Doctor that acts as if your pet is his own. The office staff was very friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in the door until we walked out. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great vet and experience. Started bringing my 4-month old Samoyed named Shimo here, and I have never seen a puppy actually excited to go to the vet. He pulls on the leash to go inside and greets all the staff so enthusiastically. Pricing is affordable, the staff is helpful, efficient and friendly. Dr. Armstrong is also very helpful and skilled. Shimo had both conjuctivitis and bronchitis one week apart, and with the doctor's help, it cleared up in 2 weeks! I do wish the doc would spend some more time explaining things to me, as I'm new to puppy care, but nothing a google search couldn't remedy. What I like best are the text and email reminders you can sign up for, that clearly and concisely let you know when the next appointment or suggested round of immunizations should be.Grooming here is also amazing. This was my second visit in two years and just like the first visit I couldn't be happier. When my cat gets sick I panic, when I called they got us right in. I could go on and on but what you need to know is the doc's and staff are the Real Deal. They put my mind at ease and my cat was feeling better by the end of the day without robbing me. I have been taking my shih tzu's to Dr. Armstrong for years. I love this place. Dr. Armstrong has great bedside manner when it comes to pets and knowing how to treat his patient's. Dr. Armstrong is very good about discussing all options with you when it comes to treating your pet. He has always been very nice, helpful and good at educating you. I'm in love with this little place.  I brought our two Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers to Platte Woods Animal Hospital for summer grooming and to find a new vet.  Everyone is friendly and professional, and HALLELUIAH! the dogs (1) were not shaved, which I explicitly said I did NOT want, and (2) did not come out looking like plucked chickens. Believe me, this has happened. More than once. We've had an ongoing "Ugliest Haircut" contest - thank God it's over.The groomers were familiar with the breed (also unusual) and really took their time with me discussing my expectations and preferences.  Ziggy was due for one innoculation (Bordetella) and they did it on the spot - no hassle, no separate appointment. Platte Woods Animal Hospital is filled with wonderful employees and completely reasonable prices. We take our English Bulldog to see Dr. Armstrong because he specializes in bulldog care. The staff always know our dog by name and are always happy to see him. We get our dog groomed about once a month and he is always well groomed, comes home with an adorable bandana, and it only costs around $25 dollars. We also board our dog here when we go out of town. He is always well taken care of and happy when we come to pick him up. I would recommend this vet to any of my friends, and even though it is a bit of a drive for our family, we will continue to go to this vet as long as we live in the KC area. Read Less
