I originally arrived at KC Spay and Neuter because I was in search of affordable care for my fur baby. I have a 90lb White German Sheppard and I had no idea what to expect. The second I walked in the door my mind was blown. The whole clinic was sparkling clean and very well lit, the staff was friendly and passionate about all the animals I saw them interact with and although there was a small waiting time, I could see that they run a highly organized and efficient care-clinic system. Our vet assistant was friendly and explained all costs and procedures clearly and upfront so there were not in surprises. I highly recommend taking your fur babies to the professionals here! We have used the services of this clinic for years. Yesterday I took my dogs in for their vaccinations. They were very good in dealing with my 120 lb mastiff (who was the size of the vet) and equally good in dealing with our highly nervous rescue dog. Amanda was awesome. I brought my sweet little kitty that was found in a parking lot, dropped off in the morning, quick pick up that evening and he was fixed, vaccinated, trimmed neat claws and healthy. As someone who normally lives in parking lots, it was affordable, clean and efficient, and while I waited for paperwork I saw them bringing in rescued animals to shelter and care for. This place was great! I was so nervous nervous dropping my dog and cat off to get spayed. You always hear such bad things in the news! Luckily my experince was nothing but easy and comfortable. Having been trained as an Animal Care Specialist by the Army some 30 years ago, I see the value of having pets spayed or neutered. I took my dog in a couple of weeks ago and had him neutered. Okay, I have been to a lot of different Pet Vets because I am always on the move, but this place really stood out to me. To me it seemed that they hire staff not on initial impressions or based off silly questions about "what are your strengths and weaknesses" but more so based off there affinity to show compassion and care for animals. I can't sing this place's praises enough. I just took my two 3 month old kittens in and got them both flea meds, de-worming injections and kitten booster vaccinations for $100 total. I also received 2 coupons to get them spay/neutered for only $25 apiece. The staff was very helpful, welcoming and took extra time to answer all my questions and help me pick the right package for my bbs. Not only is this place friendly, affordable and efficient - it's a non profit that helps lower income pet owners and encourages trap/spay and release programs for "Community Cats". If you love your pet and want to help animals and pet lovers in our community this is the place for you. They don't offer all services that a vet would but for beginning pet owners and basic needs this is the place for you!  I will be returning for my kittens' boosters and discounted spay/neuter service and will be a supporter henceforth! I was referred to Spay & Neuter Clinic by a neighbor. I was unfamiliar with the organization. We have a new pricey puppy and after the rave reviews of my neighbor I checked into this organization. I can't say enough great things about our experience. From check-in to pick up it was top notch. A follow-up phone call was received. Another call was made because we left our pup's toy there. They were willing to put it in the mail to us. One service was not completed (that I paid for) because once the doctor got in there, he deemed it unnecessary. They offered the refund, but I gladly asked them to put it towards food or whatever was needed. I love that they open up to volunteers in the community. We are very pleased with Charlie's recovery! My family and I have frequented this establishment for years as well as collecting donations for drop off. I truly LOVE this staff and their efforts. I personally would not recommend spay and neuter Kansas City unless that's all you're doing is spaying and neutering. I recently had problems with spay and neuter it twice and tried to do some problem-solving and they had a bad attitude. I believe there good in there spaying and neutering but that's about it. I was so excited to come to this place given their awesome mission. Hopefully our experience was a freak event, but we were treated by the rudest, most incompetent doctor (animal or human) that I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Although the desk girls are very sweet, the tech was also dragging my scared puppy to the back rooms by the leash/neck!!I brought my nearly 7 month old Standard Poodle puppy here for a Rabies shot and microchip because I loved the idea behind this place and the reviews seemed good. The desk volunteer asked if, in addition to paying the costs of the visit, I could make an additional donation and I said I would, offering twice the amount they say most people donate.Although the staff at the desks are very nice, the tech and vet were horrible. My pup was slightly scared of the environment (she is usually outgoing), and the tech instead of calling her and enticing her started dragging her by the neck to get her microchip in the back rooms. I should have left then, but stupidly got up and sweet talked and cajoled her into following this woman who then resumed dragging her by the neck as soon as she got into the staff only area. I was told to wait while they did the microchip and that they would come back and talk to me before doing the rabies shot. The vet then came out with my pup, and the paperwork for everything (they did the rabies shot without my knowing it was happening or having a chance to be present) and immediately started barking at me with a really rude manner. The first thing that came out of her mouth was a very rude, "First, your dog is a year old. I can tell because she has all her adult teeth". I patiently explained that I bought her myself as an 8 week old puppy. This woman then continued to bark at my face "I know she is a year old. I know how to tell from their teeth". Well, I bought my puppy from a reputable breeder THE DAY SHE TURNED 8 WEEKS. She is registered with the AKC, and we know her exact birth date! We met her family and her entire litter of 10 siblings, and she was hardly larger (though puffier) than a grown Chihuahua; she was still even a little uncoordinated. Then, this vet proceeded to rudely lecture me because I wasn't ready to spay my puppy today. She informed me that my dog has already had her first heat (I told the vet she has not, which I know not from looking at her teeth but because I've raised her from a small puppy and have been with her every day of her life since she was 8 weeks) and that because she is a year old (???!!!) she is therefore already at higher risk of mammary cancer. My dog is exactly 6 months and 21 days and has not had a heat yet.Anything the vet said to me was extremely rude and lecturing. When I told her that my dog recently caught fleas, and that I just gave her K9 Advantage, but that I wanted to do something more immediate to help her scratch while the fleas die because she is scratching so bad she is matting all her hair and giving herself rashes, she offered nothing for relief, and, again in a very rude way, pushed me to buy their flea collar. Maybe she didn't hear when I *just* told her  gave my pup K9 Advantage, a very effective flea treatment that should have the fleas dead in one more day, 12 hours before??We are very responsible dog parents. We give heart worm meds, flea meds, take our pup to the vet regularly, and have even take our dog to professional grooming on several occasions. We only came here because of recent financial hard times. And then, I offered to donate double their preferred amount, in addition to the costs of the visit.But this vet was had the rudest doctor I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with (including human doctors. I've never met a human or animal doctor this pretentious and rude). I would not return to this place for anything for my pup, not even a shot.We are 98% sure we will spay our puppy. We just weren't ready to do it today. But after being treated like this, and reading about people's problems with their spay and neuter on the Google reviews, I will go into debt to take my dog to a professional. That's too bad. I thought their mission was wonderful, and the desk staff are sure very nice. But we will never put ourselves to dealing with such an incompetent and rude vet like this again. Read Less

We started taking our first dog here for shots when she was older, then when we got our new dog we took him for Neuter, chip and shots! They are so much more affordable! Our older dog passed sadly but we still take our boy there for vaccinations and flea treatments. The people here are very caring and friendly! Our dog is an anxious barker and they don't get annoyed and have actually given us toys and treats to keep him happy! We absolutely love this place and recommend them to everyone we know! Read Less

I find this place the best place to take the pugs to get their shots and tags. I got the microchipped here too. Very affordable and helpful. Very disappointed this morning, we brought in two cats to yesterday's feral clinic, one kitten who hit the 2 Ibs mark and a 4.6 Ibs female adult. When we were called between 9:30 and 10 am yesterday we were a bit surprised that they were done. The kitten bounced back from surgery amazingly, the bigger female not so much. I have taken my puppy there for a month or so, she has gotten 2 sets of puppy shots, she's been microchiped, spayed and a flea treatment all for under $100. They are a great group of people. They have answered every question I've had and been very friendly on every visit. They are VERY reasonable compared to a vets visit. They offer not only shots but spay, neuter, microchip, flea treatments and free treats. I will continue taking my dog there from now on. We have had all of our pets spayed / neutered through their services, and appreciate it! And, their clinics for the vaccinations are excellent.  I've used their special options when you go to an event (so standing in a really long line) when financially strapped (it happens every so often), to get them all vaccinated, chipped, and they gave us food for the month, for a very small fee of $13 per pet that day.  It was a Friday the 13th special (held on a Sunday when I went, the 15th). Even other times, though, their prices are excellent.  And, they will work with you if you need it.  They have 2 locations now, and extended hours to when I first started using them. Read Less

This place is awesome! You get five star service regardless of your ability to pay. The place was super clean and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I was able to get an appointment in less than a week, dropped my kitty off in the morning and was able to pick him up by late afternoon. Let me out it to you this way, after calling other vets local to the area, I was quoted 40$ visits with $28 shot prices.At spay & neuter Kc- it's a $15 visit and another $15 for the shot. How do vets do this, well it's my guess they have to in order to cover their costs, as exorbitant as they are....
