WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT DR WILKERSON THAT WILL CAPTURE EXACTLY WHOM SHE IS NOT ONLY AS A DOCTOR BUT A PERSON, ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO I GOT MY FIRST DOG EVER THAT WAS "MINE" I WAS 26 AT THAT TIME, I BROUGHT MY NEW BABY TO DR WILKERSON AS MY SISTER HAS ONLY RAVED ABOUT HER FOR YEARS AS HER BABIES VET, FROM THE MOMENT SHE CAME THROUGH THE DOOR COVERED IN ANIMAL FUR WITH THE KINDEST EYES AND WELCOMING SMILE, I KNEW I HAD CHOSEN A PLACE THAT FELT LIKE HOME, THE FIRST AND LAST PLACE ID EVER TAKE MY BABIES. FAST FORWARD A YEAR LATER I WAS GOING TO PETSMART WITH MY SISTER, WE SAW A RESCUE -ADOPTION AGENCY OUTSIDE, MY SISTER, A ANIMAL LOVER WANTED TO STOP I SAID "NO" AS I KNOW I AM WEAK AND WHEN I SEE AN ANIMAL THAT NEEDS A HOME, I WILL NOT SAY NO, AS WE CREPT UP TO THE CAGES ON A COLD DECEMBER DAY, A WHITE FLUFF BALL WHOS EYES I COULD HARDLY SEE, COVERED IN MATTS, SHAKING AND AFRAID, YET STILL WAGGING HER TAIL AT ME AS A PUT MY HAND IN HER CRATE... I PICKED HER UP AND IN THE TOTAL 2 MIN I HAD BEEN THERE, I ADOPTED HER..... MY GIRL "SOPHIE" AS I COULD NOT LEAVE THIS BABY BEHIND. I BROUGHT HER HOME, FROM THE MOMENT SHE WALKED IN MY HOUSE SHE FOUND A LITTLE LION TOY, THAT BELONGED TO MY 5 LB POMAPOO, SHE GRABBED IT IN HER MOUTH AND PRANCED AROUND WITH IT, OBSERVING HER NEW FOREVER HOME, I TOOK HER TO DR WILKERSON 2 DAYS LATER FOR A CHECK UP, UNSURE OF HER AGE, BACKGROUND AND HEALTH, SHE WAS HAPPY TO SEE DR WILKERSON LIKE MY OTHER BABY "WYNNI" ALWAYS IS. FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE VISIT DR WILKERSON APPLAUDED ME FOR ADOPTING A BABY THAT NEEDED ME. DR BELIEVED SHE WAS A OLDER DOG AROUND 10. WHO HAS HAD SEVERAL LITTERS OF PUPPIES, PROB FROM A "PUPPY MILL". TIME HAS PASSED IN THE YEAR THAT HAS BROUGHT ME TO THIS LAST MONTH, IN MY 28 YEARS OF LIVING. THE HARDEST DAYS OF MY LIFE.... WITHOUT EVER SKIPPING A DAY TO GREET ME WHEN I CAME IN THE DOOR, I NOTICED MY SOPHIE GROWING TIRED AND JUST NOT HERSELF, I BROUGHT HER INTO DR WILKERSON LIKE ANY OTHER VISIT, BUT HAD I KNOWN IT WOULD BE ONE OF THE LAST ID BE CARRYING MY GIRL THROUGH HER DOORS, SHE RAN BLOOD AND A XRAY, HER BOWELS WERE SMALL AND NUMBERS WERE NOT GOOD WHEN THE BLOOD CAME BACK. I WAS DEVASTATED AS I KNEW DR WILKERSON WAS DELIVERING THE NEWS. SHE TOLD ME "LETS PUT HER ON SOME MEDS" AND WE SHALL SEE, AS SHE IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR SURGERY, I GOT HER SPECIAL FOOD AND MEDS AND I WAS ON MY WAY, WITH DR WILKERSONS KIND YET DIFFICULT NEWS AND ADVICE IN MY HEAD. I THEN TOOK MY BABY HOME. FOR THE PAST MONTH.. I HAVE SEEN MY BABY GROW WEAK AND TIRED OVER NIGHT, STILL GREETING ME WITH A WAG AND KISS SHE SHORTLY AFTER WANTED TO LAY DOWN, AS SHE WAS TIRED AND COULDN'T PLAY WITH ME ANYMORE. EVERY NIGHT SOPHIE SLEEPS WITH ME AND I WOULD ROCK HER IN A HEATED BLANKET, KISSING HER CHEEKS TELLING HER HOW MUCH I LOVE HER, AS I KNEW HER TIME WITH ME IS LIMITED.YESTERDAY 12/7/2017 I WAS UP FOR WORK, SOPHIE HAD A SEIZURE... I RUSHED HER TO DR WILKERSON IN A PANIC I WRAPPED HER IN HER BLANKIE, I ONCE ROCKED HER IN TO SLEEP..... I WAS GREETED AND HAD A ROOM READY FOR ME AND MY GIRL.... DR WILKERSON CAME IN QUICKLY WITH REGRET AND SADNESS IN HER EYES, SHE CHECKED PULSE AND HER FURRY LEGS, MY GIRL WAS LEAVING ME. KIM, ANOTHER FAVORITE OF MINE THAT WORKS THERE CAME UP OUT OF SURGERY JUST TO SEE ME AND SOPHIE. WHICH IS TRULY APPRECIATED. DR WILKERSON TOLD ME " SHE IS TRYING TO LEAVE US" WITH A HEAVY HEART AND TEARS IN MY EYES, MY VOICE QUIVERED " SHOULD I PUT HER TO SLEE" WITH CARE AND LOVING WORDS DR WILKERSON AGREED, THAT SOPHIE WAS ALREADY LEAVING. DR GAVE AS LONG AS I WANTED WITH MY GIRL, I DID NOT KNOW AFTER JUST A SHORT YEAR WITH MY BABY I WOULD BEING SAYING GOODBYE TO MY FRIEND... I DID NOT KNOW I NEEDED HER AS MUCH AS SHE NEEDED ME TOO... DOGS HAVE SUCH SHORT LIVES, IN WHICH THEY SPEND MOST OF IT WAITING FOR US TO COME HOME. I ROCKED AND HELD HER IN MY ARMS, AS IF IT WAS BEFORE BED LIKE WE ALWAYS DO.... DR CAME BACK AND PUT ME AT EASE AS WE LAID MY BABY TO REST.TO SAY DR WILKERSON IS A FANTASTIC VET IS CUTTING HER SHORT, AS SHE IS TRULY AN ANGEL ON EARTH. THANK YOU. Read Less

Will not take my cats anywhere but here to Dr. Wilkerson - she's absolutely the best! We've always been seen quickly, even with a last minute "squeeze in" appointment, the staff is very friendly, all of my questions were answered, and I've never felt rushed. Highly recommend! Read Less

I will NEVER go to a different vet. Dr. Wilkerson is the most amazing person who actually cares for your pet. She is very gentle and loves on my dogs every time. My dogs have received vaccinations, regular checkups, teeth cleanings, and appointments/meds when they've been sick. I'm so happy I have found the best vet in the Northland! Read Less

Dr. Howard is an awesome doctor who tells it like it is.He treats pets so well by talking to them and petting them while he gives great tips on what to do with your pets to make their quality of life better. We recently moved to the area and got a new puppy. We began taking him to Crossroads for his shots. We had a 13 year old dog as well that had been suffering from seizures and had recently become very aggressive with us and our 2 year old son. We called and spoke to the team after deciding we had no other options but to have him put down. He had been a rescue from an abusive home and had been my best friend for the 10 years that he was in our care. This was one of the hardest decisions I'd ever made and I was really struggling with guilt. We met with Dr. Wilkerson at the office, and I can honestly say I've never met a more compassionate and understanding Vet...and I used to work for a Veterinary Hospital. This was such a difficult day, but could have been even more difficult if we had to deal with a judgmental or uncaring vet. We even received a hand written sympathy card a few days after. We've taken our pets here for 5+ years and have always had the best experiences with them. Dr. Wilkerson has always gone the extra mile to care for our 4 legged loves and they've always been there when we need them. Dr. Howard has been our veterinarian since 1978. He is cared for seven dogs and three cats that of been our pets over The past 37 years. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Howard, who is a strong Christian man, cares about the pets under his practice. And has always attracted a strong caring staff around him. He and his staff have always been there for us anytime our pets needed well visits or when our pets suffered some sort of health issue. I'd have to say most of my pets were healthy and didn't need a lot of surgeries. But did need to be spayed and neutered and one had kidney disease. And several had a variety of health issues that he handled along the way. If you're looking for a competent caring Vet office you found it. Read Less

Our cat was declawed somewhere else, and when it looked like her nails we're growing back, I took her to Crossroad. He charged me $40 to just take a quick look at her foot and prescribe some antibiotics. We went back a couple weeks later to have an actual repair surgery done. They told us it would be no more than $100 for it, which is twice as much as I paid to have her declawed in the first place. We went ahead, and when we picked her up after, they tried to tell us the cost would be thirty dollars more. It took half an hour of receptionists running around to get the correct amount on the bill. Lastly, they told us she would have dissolvable stitches. Lo and behold, two months later my cat still had thread in her foot. When we took her to have them removed, the doctor tried to tell us there was no way she still had stitches, and then fell oddly silent when he realized the stitches were still in her foot. They're clearly disorganized, so I'll be taking my cats elsewhere in the future. Read Less

We have been taking our dogs to Dr Wilkerson since 2/22/2007 when she was at Shoal Creek. She left to work with her mentor Dr Howard and we followed her. To our delight we also found Dr Howard to be just as wonderful as Dr Wilkerson. They both try to keep costs down while not compromising good health care for their patients. They both are very loving, caring and kind when it comes to each and every dog and cat. The staff is great too! They are very friendly and do a fantastic job at the front! Read Less

Dr. Howard has taken care of our cats for over 15 years and I wouldn't trust anyone else. He really loves animals. We moved several years back and tried vets closer to home but ended up going back to Crossroads even though it is a 20 mile drive. I know our 4 kids are getting the best care possible. Read Less
