We've been bringing both of our cats and our tortoise to James River Animal Hospital for care for the last 3 years. Dr Davis is very up front about what tests she recommends versus what's available. When our cat Lyra had a bladder infection, Dr Davis went over the labs with me and recommended both antibiotics to treat the infection and dietary measures to help prevent further infections. All information was given in an easy to understand way. My only complaint is that the wait can be long; I've sat for over 45 minutes after checking in while waiting for my girls to be seen.

I'm so happy I found James River Animal Hospital. I had been taking my pet rats to a different veterinarian which was a long drive north of Springfield. My Rascal was having myco flare ups and the medicines the other vet gave him just didn't help much. He was at deaths door and sadly the other vet said oh just let him finish the medicine. He will get better. Well, I love my rats very much and I knew it was time to find a great exotic vet. I knew the moment I met Dr. Davis she was the one. Very intelligent woman. She was very thorough and caring. She got him on the right meds and that was about 3 weeks ago. Rascal has been doing great. I will never take a pet anywhere but here. Thank you for all you did.

We unfortunately found this wonderful veterinary clinic because our guinea pig poked his eye with something to the point it appeared beyond repair. We frantically called what seemed like every vet in the phone book and quickly discovered that 1) not very many vets in the area actually treat guinea pigs or other animals considered "exotics" and 2) the vet that all the other vets recommended was James River Animal Hospital! Even though they were booked up, they managed to get us in quickly and Dr. Hardy gave our piggy a thorough exam. We were pretty sure our fur baby was going to lose his eye but Dr Hardy was willing to pull out all the stops and put him on a hefty dose of 3 different medications. Now, 3 1/2 weeks later, Clement not only gets to keep his eye, he can also see out of it again. Dont think many vets would have put in that kind of effort to go the extra mile! We are thrilled with the service we get there, the staff are so kind to the animals, and we couldnt speak more highly of them. When you need a miracle, look them up in nixa!

James River animal hospital got us in the next day and got him into surgery the same day. The price was way affordable and they worked with us. Even though he didn't make it. They were heartfelt and they did everything they could to save him. If I ever get another rabbit I will be coming here. They are so amazing. They were caring and just plain amazing. You guys will be getting something from us for everything you guys have done. What you guys did means everything to me and my husband.

Genuinely caring staff that go above and beyond. My dog went missing and the person who found her called James River Animal Hospital attempting to get her records stating I gave her to them. The person who answered the call followed her gut and called me to verify rather than just hand over my dog's information. Thanks to their caution and quick thinking I was able to get my dog back. Also, my mom took them an injured wild owl to be treated and Dr. Hardy called her outside the hours they are open to give her an update on its condition, which really showed that it the job is more than a paycheck to him. The people who work here are compassionate and kind.

I became a client of JRAH after finding an injured dog alongside the road. With one phone call they saw the little guy right away and got him fixed up. He was re-united with his owner the same day. Since then I've taken both of my Boston Terriers to JRAH and Dr. Lois Davis. It's very clear to me Dr. Davis and all the staff I've dealt with truly do care about what they do. My current Boston is very difficult to examine, and the supreme level of patience I see from Dr. Davis and the staff with my "snarling little darling" is amazing. I now live 20 miles further out, but I still take my furry little buddies to Dr. Davis and James River Animal Hospital. Thank you!

Yesterday I faced the difficult situation of taking my big orange fur-ball cat Baxter to James River Veterinary Hospital to visit with Dr. Lois Davis about whether or not to have him euthenized. I cannot express in words the insight, skill, and humanity that Dr. Davis shared with me as we discussed Baxter and how to proceed. As I think of her interaction with Baxter and with me, my eyes tear up. Baxter is gone now and I made the right decision. I am left with gratitude for Dr Davis' sharing of her veterinary experience, her laying out of options, and her great and kind humanity.

She was diagnosed with cancer and although the prognosis was not good, he was able to help extend her life almost a month longer than expected. Dr. Hardy is knowledgeable and an excellent listener. The best Vet Clinic to take my animals to! Dr. Hardy and Dr. Davis are both wonderful, knowledgeable people, and I can really tell they both love their jobs and people's animals! James River Animal Hospital is also super inexpensive, and my babies appointments and treatments are definitely something I can afford while being a college student and only working part time. 5/5 stars for being the best trusted vet to diagnose and treat animal's illnesses or injuries while keeping it at a very fair price.

I'm simply thrilled with James River Animal Hospital. I drive at least an hour just to take my birds to an exotic animal Vet. I have been very happy with the knowledge, patience, caring, friendliness, and respect that I have observed at the clinic. They are very client and patient oriented. It is hard to find a vet that can care for exotic animals. I've used Dr. Hardy for at least 15 years. I have 7 birds and they all see him at least 2 times per year. The prices are very reasonable and the extra time driving is worth it to know that my birds are getting the best care possible. I'm always amazed at how many exotic animals he works with in addition to dogs and cats. I would strongly recommend James River Animal Hospital to anyone that is looking for a good Vet.

They love their job and it shows. They are so nice and caring. Plus they are more than reasonably priced. I usually spend only half of what I would spend at any other vets office. I recently took my dog in for his last check up on his broken leg and to get his cast off. They only charged me $6 for the medicine he needed for his irritated skin. Any where else probably would have charged me at least $35 just for the visit. I would recommend this vets office to anyone looking for a new vet.

We've been bringing both of our cats and our tortoise to James River Animal Hospital for care for the last 3 years. Dr Davis is very up front about what tests she recommends versus what's available. When our cat Lyra had a bladder infection, Dr Davis went over the labs with me and recommended both antibiotics to treat the infection and dietary measures to help prevent further infections. All information was given in an easy to understand way. My only complaint is that the wait can be long; I've sat for over 45 minutes after checking in while waiting for my girls to be seen.

I'm so happy I found James River Animal Hospital. I had been taking my pet rats to a different veterinarian which was a long drive north of Springfield. My Rascal was having myco flare ups and the medicines the other vet gave him just didn't help much. He was at deaths door and sadly the other vet said oh just let him finish the medicine. He will get better. Well, I love my rats very much and I knew it was time to find a great exotic vet. I knew the moment I met Dr. Davis she was the one. Very intelligent woman. She was very thorough and caring. She got him on the right meds and that was about 3 weeks ago. Rascal has been doing great. I will never take a pet anywhere but here. Thank you for all you did.

We unfortunately found this wonderful veterinary clinic because our guinea pig poked his eye with something to the point it appeared beyond repair. We frantically called what seemed like every vet in the phone book and quickly discovered that 1) not very many vets in the area actually treat guinea pigs or other animals considered "exotics" and 2) the vet that all the other vets recommended was James River Animal Hospital! Even though they were booked up, they managed to get us in quickly and Dr. Hardy gave our piggy a thorough exam. We were pretty sure our fur baby was going to lose his eye but Dr Hardy was willing to pull out all the stops and put him on a hefty dose of 3 different medications. Now, 3 1/2 weeks later, Clement not only gets to keep his eye, he can also see out of it again. Dont think many vets would have put in that kind of effort to go the extra mile! We are thrilled with the service we get there, the staff are so kind to the animals, and we couldnt speak more highly of them. When you need a miracle, look them up in nixa!

James River animal hospital got us in the next day and got him into surgery the same day. The price was way affordable and they worked with us. Even though he didn't make it. They were heartfelt and they did everything they could to save him. If I ever get another rabbit I will be coming here. They are so amazing. They were caring and just plain amazing. Genuinely caring staff that go above and beyond. My dog went missing and the person who found her called James River Animal Hospital attempting to get her records stating I gave her to them. The person who answered the call followed her gut and called me to verify rather than just hand over my dog's information. Thanks to their caution and quick thinking I was able to get my dog back. Also, my mom took them an injured wild owl to be treated and Dr. Hardy called her outside the hours they are open to give her an update on its condition, which really showed that it the job is more than a paycheck to him. The people who work here are compassionate and kind.

I became a client of JRAH after finding an injured dog alongside the road. With one phone call they saw the little guy right away and got him fixed up. He was re-united with his owner the same day. Since then I've taken both of my Boston Terriers to JRAH and Dr. Lois Davis. It's very clear to me Dr. Davis and all the staff I've dealt with truly do care about what they do. My current Boston is very difficult to examine, and the supreme level of patience I see from Dr. Davis and the staff with my "snarling little darling" is amazing. I now live 20 miles further out, but I still take my furry little buddies to Dr. Davis and James River Animal Hospital. Thank you!

Yesterday I faced the difficult situation of taking my big orange fur-ball cat Baxter to James River Veterinary Hospital to visit with Dr. Lois Davis about whether or not to have him euthenized. I cannot express in words the insight, skill, and humanity that Dr. Davis shared with me as we discussed Baxter and how to proceed. As I think of her interaction with Baxter and with me, my eyes tear up. Baxter is gone now and I made the right decision. I am left with gratitude for Dr Davis' sharing of her veterinary experience, her laying out of options, and her great and kind humanity.

The best Vet Clinic to take my animals to! Dr. Hardy and Dr. Davis are both wonderful, knowledgeable people, and I can really tell they both love their jobs and people's animals! I'm simply thrilled with James River Animal Hospital. I drive at least an hour just to take my birds to an exotic animal Vet. I have been very happy with the knowledge, patience, caring, friendliness, and respect that I have observed at the clinic. They are very client and patient oriented. It is hard to find a vet that can care for exotic animals. I've used Dr. Hardy for at least 15 years. I have 7 birds and they all see him at least 2 times per year. The prices are very reasonable and the extra time driving is worth it to know that my birds are getting the best care possible. I'm always amazed at how many exotic animals he works with in addition to dogs and cats. I would strongly recommend James River Animal Hospital to anyone that is looking for a good Vet.

I recently took my dog in for his last check up on his broken leg and to get his cast off. They only charged me $6 for the medicine he needed for his irritated skin. Any where else probably would have charged me at least $35 just for the visit. I would recommend this vets office to anyone looking for a new vet.
