I had taken my dog there for 10 years and had not had any problems. My dog(Ozzie) was a healthy dog all the way around. I even bought prescription dog food from which I bought Dr Carlson. December 2017 I took him in to get nails clipped and annal glands bleed. They said he had a UTI infection and prescribed him medication. I was to bring him back in 14 days when meds were gone to get him retested. On the 13th day I noticed he was peeing and dripping blood. I called and took him in immediately. They ran test and said this blood was not coagulating and nothing could be done except a blood transfusion. And that more than likely would not work. So she recommended that he be put down. I feel after researching the drug that he was prescribed that he was given double the amount required for his weight which I feel caused his death. I Recommend Do Not Go Here. Dr. Carlson and staff are simply the best! They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and really care. Once a medicine wasn't available and didn't get filled, so they borrowed it from another vet and even delivered it to my house. Carlson Vet was our first Vet for our dogs and we were always pleased with their service and knowledge. We changed Vets when we got bunnies so all the animals would be seen at the same place but when my dog was dying and the other vet could care less to help me. Carlson's Pet Hospital tried to help and gave me better information which ultimately helped me cope better when my dog did die. I will not take my dogs anywhere but them from now on. This past August, my husband and I adopted a 3 year-old female lab mix from a local rescue. We weren't sure of where to take her to get established in Springfield, MIssouri until someone through the rescue mentioned Carlson. We were hesitant, but I can honestly say, this staff is dedicated. Dr. Maggie has taken great care of our dog as she has already become ill twice. Plus, Carlson was nice enough to board her on short notice over the holidays (after she became sick). Cindy, the groomer, always does a great job with our dog. She is never scared of going to the vet! This establishment is reasonably priced and very friendly. Two weeks ago we took our very sick puppy to Carlson Pet Hospital. Dr. McIntyre and the staff began caring for Ozzie immediately. They went above and beyond to nurse him back to health. As early as Monday of this week we were worried that that Ozzie wasn't getting better and this would be the end. However, Dr. McIntyre felt that it was too early to give up. Through the care of Dr. McIntyre, Dr. Carlson, and all that staff Ozzie improved by leaps and bounds over the course of the last 4 days. Today was a sad day for me. I was on my way to my normal vet (North of Springfield) when I drove past my old vet (your place). My dog had ran herself into a nail sticking out of a board she had worked loose on our fence. She needed stitches or staples. I thought that because it was a simple procedure that maybe I would be able to get some fast help for my girl without driving out of Springfield. I spoke to the front desk staff, (very friendly and helpful). They told me that one of the Drs. didn't have anything going on and would be able to fit me in.... They checked my dogs temp, the Dr came in and told me he felt like he needed to do surgery on my sweet girl. He wanted to make her cut bigger so he could get clean strait edges to stitch together. I told him I would have to take her to her own vet for something like that. I asked him what I owed..... He told the ladies at the front to charge me for a full office visit. I paid and left. I'm not trying to get something for nothing, but charging me full price for less then 5 minutes with him is out of control. On a side note, my vet fixed my girl up without surgery all for a great price. I am sorry I had a bad experience today, and I would hope this is not a common practice at your Business. I would NOT recommend anyone to go there. Or at least go there to see the Dr that I saw.Read Less

If you're offered a visit from Dr. McIntyre, decline. We had an awful time with him, his bedside manner was terrible with our pet and us. His demeanor was horribly combative. He didn't  offer to run routine tests on our animal that could have  easily been run in his clinic, and was in a hurry to get us out of the clinic after two days of treating our animal, going so far as to continually ask us "how many cars do you have? What time can you be here to pick the animal up? Do you take your kids to school? Can the grandparents watch your children while you come pick up the animal?" Completely unprofessional. Then when we went over our paperwork to take to another vet, we found so many discrepancies in what he told us and what he documented on the paperwork it was incredible. my cat got atttacked by a pit bull. when we took her to the vet she had punchered intestines and herina in her back end. she had to have part of her intestines removed and put back together. and had several puncher wounds. she was in the clinic for several days. they kept in contact with us about her well being and how she was being cared for. they called me every day to update me and i talked to the surgeon several times. i finally got to take her home and they continued to call and check on her. making sure that i was handling giving her meds to her and check on her progress. it took several weeks...but she finally got back to eating drinking and roaming the house again. and now she is playing with her doggie best friend. and only thanks to the carlson vet clinic and all this staff.
