I needed my proof of rabies certificates for my 2 cats so I could adopt an animal from the Humane Society. When the Humane Society Called them to verify they (Town and Country) said they had no records of me ever being there. I called after I got home with prescriptions in my hands from Town and Country and asked them to check my records and was told, “they were swamped and didn’t have time” and “when I go to adopt a pet, I should have my certificates with me” as if I or anyone would know that. The lady who said she was the boss was very rude and and at the end of the conversation said I could go find another vet. So not only did she not help me, she also stopped a pet from having a home because “she was to busy to check my records”. I guess typing my name in a computer was very taxing. A quick follow up from the next day — turns out I was a client and all my animals were going there all the way back to when I moved to willard. They didn’t have the rabies certificate for one of my cats although they had a form showing I paid for it. I was also told to go find another vet. This all stems from them not getting up to look up my paperwork after calling three times and being told they had never heard of me. Read Less

Melissa is great! She is very busy so expect 10-15 minutes wait on occasion, since she takes critical situation first, like an emergency room. She also is awesome, and does rescue work, for strays to be healthy, if your a regular. Since she is busy, if your going to be caring for an animal, you should probably do some research on how to raise said animal, don't expect a busy vet to spend highly demanded time to explain to you the animal needs food and water, Google it!! I don't know much about cropping a dogs ears, but unless you're a jerk and dog fight, I don't see a need, other than to put your furry friend through a useless surgery cause it's "cool". That also goes with cutting off the tail. Lastly, if your pet has a wound, it needs cleaned daily with antibacterial soap and plenty of water. I assume this to be common sense, labeled under general wound care since soap was invented around 0 ad. Assume some responsibility for pet care, or please offer your pet a good home. Bottom line, Melissa has been great to our Lab and Sheppard/collie, but we don't expect her to spoon feed us common sense. She also has very reasonable prices and usually stays late to ensure everyone gets seen. Melissa is a very dedicated vet. Read Less

I always take my two dogs here for care. This is a great veterinary hospital. She always does what is needed and doesn't try to sell you on things that aren't necessary. Both of our dogs are older and have had surgeries here and we have never had a problem. To the people who have given bad reviews to her, I have taken my dogs in for ear surgery, eye issues, and regular vaccines and have not had a problem. Also it is a vets office and you have animals that sometimes pee or poop because they are scared, and emergency situations coming in at anytime so it's not going to be a completely sterile environment at all times. That also explains why sometimes the receptionist may seem a bit short with people who haven't been here before, they have appointments, and emergencies, and surgeries, and lots of things happening at all times and don't always have time to spend talking on the phone. Once you get in there though Melissa is great about answering any questions and addressing any concerns you have about your pet. I wouldn't trust my dogs to anyone else and I am happy to support this business. Read Less

Do NOT take your animals here unless all you want is the cheapest care in town. Dr. Smith does NOT seem to care much... We just moved from Arizona in March, and needed a new vet for our cat. We brought her to Dr. Smith. First of all, I wanted her to see my cat s medical records but their fax was broken (as usual, it seems) so I brought my cat's medical records in physically. She didn t seem to want to look at them, and didn t even want to keep them for her own records. Our cat had serious health problems, but Dr. Smith didn t seem to take them seriously. She didn t even want to touch her or examine her just because she gets cranky and feisty at the vet, and made us feel bad that our cat was hissing at her. I m sorry, but as a veterinarian you should be prepared to deal with a cranky cat, not make us feel bad about it and refuse to even TRY to touch her or look at her wounds. This should ve been a good warning, but she did give us different meds than her old doctor, and they seemd to help for a bit. However, when those stopped working and we went back, all they did was shove the same meds at us and not want to look at her again, even though she had gotten much worse. Not to mention, they lost our file and had to piece together what meds she was on. They eventually found her file by the next time we brought her but the treatment didn t change. The office was extremely disorganized, but I would put that aside if my cat was getting the attention she needed, which she did not. We needed help for our cat, decided Dr. Smith was DEFINITELY not good enough for our baby, and didn t like the meds she was on, as they seemed to completely change her personality and weren t doing her much good. We ended up bringing her to Deerfield Veterinary (whom I HIGHLY recommend), who took the time to look through her records from Arizona (of course Town&Country did NOT fax her records as I requested) and found out a few more things. It turns out that Dr. Smith had been prescribing her a medication typical given to COWS not to cats, that we were told by our new vet to throw out and not give her again. In addition, our new vet alerted us immediately that she was overdue for 3 booster shots she should ve received in June, We saw Dr. Smith in June and July and she did not once mention her being due for her shots. Basically, if you love your pet, and especially if they need special care, DO NOT bring your pet here. If you just need the cheapest place to get something routine, this place may be ok. Read Less
