What do you mean you don't like sitting in a vet waiting area with 10 other dogs and 15 other cats, trying to control a grumpy/anxious/sick dog? The prospect of that activity about gives me a heart attack. I need xanax to take my dog to get xanax, sheesh.  Well, AH&H is 100% different. When you make an appointment, you will (in 95% of times) be alone in the waiting area. They strategically transition one dog in a dog room, one cat in a cat room and someone in the waiting area/pay area.I have been taking my now 11 year old dog here for about 4 years. He can be somewhat aggressive, a la biting groomers, but they've managed him well enough-sometimes with a muzzle. I really cannot say enough good things about the vet. Dr. Garden is thorough, informative, takes her time, and most importantly has a holistic approach. No vaccinations when they aren't necessary, no flea treatment unless you see fleas, erring on the side of less medication, etc. She's performed a couple minor surgeries on my pup and everything was successful. This is the textbook model of how a vet clinic should run. And I understand this comes with a cost.They always call after every visit to check on things, and they also allow me to call in with minor concerns so that I don't have to make a trip in there. If they don't answer the phone when you call, leave a message and they will get back to you in a couple hours. This is not a cheap vet, but if I spend my money on anything it's a) good cocktails and b) my dog.My only gripe, if I had one, is that there is not a payment plan for anything that can be exorbitantly expensive. They don't take CareCredit and they don't allow payments. If you end up with an emergency surgery in the $1.5k range, you better be prepared to pay that day. Dr. Garden took GREAT care of my dog while I lived in St. Louis! She treated her for many different puppy conditions and also did her spay and all of her care was excellent. She took great care of her and I always felt my pup was safe in her hands. I absolutely recommend them! Read Less

Dr Gardener is who we saw-my frenchie puppy and Me.  She was very nice and took over an hour to examine Stella and explain what they were doing and why.  And the vet tech, Debbie, was amazing, she played with her the whole time the Doc and I were talking.  I like that they don't just shove antibiotics on you - or foods that have reps who visit - thus they would have a financial reason to push food.  That's happened to me in the past at several other vets, unfortunately.  And it didn't help my pet.They've given me hope and more info on my dog's issues.  We will see how it goes.Note: they are a little pricey, but they do spend a lot of time with you and really get to know your pet.   It's worth it for me.  Another plus:  they recommend simple, inexpensive fixes, when possible.I would recommend them to anyone. When what we believed to be a simple case of an upset tummy turned out to be cancer, it was a shot to the gut.  After the tumor was removed, we were left with the prospect of chemo or radiation therapy.  Our happy, rambunctious dog turning into a shell of himself, sick for days at a time, maybe for months, was something we didn't want.  We were determined that whatever time we had left with him would be happy.  So we searched for alternatives.We found Animal Health and Healing, and it has changed our lives.  Because they see only one patient at a time, the waiting room is quiet and peaceful, which is something our rescue dog appreciates.  There are no other scared and nervous dogs or cats around to heighten his anxiety.  His doctor treats us like parents and not just pet-owners, telling us about what she's doing and why.  We've learned valuable information about foods and supplements that help boost his immunity and fight his cancer.The staff remembers that he tends to get warm during acupuncture, so they always put a fan in his treatment room.  The young ladies who assist his doctor fawn over him like a roman emperor, petting him and making him as comfortable as possible.  His well-being is as important to them as it is to us.  This is rare.  This is remarkable. It's been 6 months since surgery, and he is doing well.  I attribute much of this to the great treatment he's gotten from the incredible people at Animal Health and Healing.  While I hope that you never need them for the same reason we did, if you find yourself looking for a holistic vet, you can't go wrong here.  After all, pets are family, too. First, let me start by saying that I am super picky about veterinarians and vet hospitals.  But...I love this vet clinic!  I bring my older cat (14 1/2 years old) to see Dr. Garden.  The Animal Heal And Healing staff is so nice (especially Deborah) and the clinic is very peaceful, it's never busy due to the way they schedule their appointments.  My cat hates going to the vet in general, but he is actually very relaxed here.  I know they have feliways plugged in and they use rescue remedy on him, which helps with stress. It's amazing the positive difference in my cat at this place.  I totally trust them, they are gentle and kind with him.  I notice that at other vet clinics, the vets and their techs want you out of their way... but not this clinic!  They encourages you to stay close to your pet and I like that.  Dr. Garden is fantastic!  She's very knowledgeable and informative and always calls promptly with test results. You can ask her lots of questions. She is thorough in her treatment plans and explaining what tests results mean.  The other thing I like is that they don't pressure you to get a bunch of tests done on your pet.  They aren't the cheapest, but I don't mind that because my kitty is doing awesome with a serious illness (kidney disease) because of the care he's getting.  Since seeing Dr. Garden, he has been doing so great (acting like a kitten) and his illness has not progressed thanks to her treatment plan.  She keeps a good eye on her patients.  I won't take my pet anywhere else for care! Amazing! Dr Garden is wonderful. She thinks holistically and doesn't insist on all kinds of vaccines and medications unless necessary. She works with me to figure out how to keep my kitties as happy and healthy as possible. She uses "rescue remedy" - aromatherapy - in a spray bottle to calm both pets and pet parents. Kind, caring staff that really take time to understand what is going on with your pet and deliver world-class veterinary care. Dr. Snodgrass has helped our diabetic cat through some challenging times and has always been responsive, attentive and answered any questions we have. What I really like about this practice is that it combines the best of veterinary science along with preventative care/natural supplements that support overall health and well-being. I brought my dog here for a few vaccinations. Everyone was very friendly and helpful I enjoyed our visit. If you're looking for an affordable vet this may not be your first choice though.  $70 just for the visit. Read Less

I tried two other well reviewed veterinary clinics before finding Dr. Garden. My four year old male Burmese had been diagnosed with UTI, crystals and depressed kidney function. The usual RX diet was prescribed. After reading recent veterinary literature that suggested dry food diet was a likely culprit, I sought a vet who wasn't selling the RX food out of their office.I can't say enough good things about the care my cat received from Dr. Garden. She concurred with the research I'd read, made other excellent therapeutic recommendations and treated my cat like her own. Retesting showed that my cat's levels were back to normal with the dietary changes to high quality canned food, no dry food, and none of that RX junk food. My other cats have benefitted from these changes, as well.If you want thorough, state-of-the-art care instead of a formulaic, one-size-fits allapproach, this is the place. We transferred to Animal Health and Healing when our senior chihuahua started experiencing seizures and our former vet wouldn't get her in for another 4 days, despite the emergency. I called Animal Health and Healing, who happily accommodated a next morning appointment and put me at ease in a very stressful situation. I currently take my younger Airedale and senior Chihuahua there to see Dr. Garden. She is very friendly and warm, with a great bedside manner. She performs some of the most thorough exams that I've seen from a vet and really makes sure to get a great grasp on my dog's health and history. Technically/medically, she is excellent and I have had other vets confirm this as well. I am a very hands on Mom and I ask a lot of questions, expect a lot of information, and expect medical professionals to work with me more as a team than to dictate what I should do next. I always feel that my concerns, ideas, and my intuition about my pets are respected and considered to be vital in her treatment plans. Due to my chihuahua's deteriorating health, I talk to the staff there at least once a week if not more. They are amazing. I am never rushed, I am always made to feel like my pets are their most important case, and my calls and requests are always answered with lightening fast speed. The people here care about my dogs more than I do.They go into way more detail than I can possibly care for.I've never been interrogated more than they have.I have to say I feel a little uneasy when they get up-close-and-personal with our Peke's uh... un-neutered spots...
