My husband and I moved to the St.Louis area and I got a referral from a friend about Hillside. They gave me all of Dr. Ed's stats (same as all the other people in the reviews- maybe he has these posted in his office or something, because the ones in the review are the same ones that my friend gave me...) I took my dogs for their annual check up and had to wait a while before being taken to a room. This is when I was told that both dr.'s were at a conference and I'd be seeing a sub. The fill-in dr. was fine, very nice, was affectionate to my dogs (more so than the techs who were doing the job and getting out...) and we were in and out pretty quickly. When we got home, one of my dogs had a reaction to the shots. The only shot listed on my invoice was the distemper shot, but I saw the doctor give my dogs two shots each. When I called the clinic, I had to try and convince the receptionist that my dogs did get two shots and after finding out who the tech was, it turns out that yes, my dogs did receive two shots- I was only charged for one, but I also have no record that my dogs had received the other shot. I told the receptionist about the reaction and after waiting on hold for several minutes, she told me to bring my dog back in, but that they close at 4. (It was 3pm and I didn't feel safe bringing a puking dog to the vet alone.) My husband and I decided to monitor him over night and take our dog to the emergency clinic if he persisted to get sick. The next morning, my dog had huge pupils and would cry every time we tried to touch him. I called the vet again and told them what had been happening in the last 24 hours and they said that they could ""squeeze us in at 10 am"" ( two hours later from the time I called). I asked if I should take him to the emergency clinic and they said ""We can see him today, if you want to come now and wait, we can try to get him in sooner"". That answer was the one I needed in the beginning and since it was my second phone call- the one I expected. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Hillside Animal Hospital. Dr. Ed might be the best vet in town, we will never know because if the quality and compassion of the staff is any reflection of him, I was not impressed. Read Less
