Had a great experience at Hillside Animal Hospital. It was my first time going there as a new client with a recently adopted cat. The vet techs and Dr. Marziani (Dr Betsy) were wonderful with my cat, took plenty of time with me, and answered all my questions to make sure I was very comfortable before I left. They have a special cat room with a pheromone dispenser, which would be really great for any skittish cats (and plenty of treats given!). You could still hear some dogs barking outside the room in other areas, but it didn't bother my cat. Will definitely be going here for future routine checkups and any other concerns. So glad to find a caring veterinarian office for my little guy! Read Less

I can not say enough good things about Hillside.  I could honestly give 2 sh*ts about price, I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for.  My Phoebe has gone here since before I adopted here from Gateway Pet Guardians.  I elected to keep her under the same care since they already knew her. I've had to bring her in for her follow up inoculations, to get a ripped claw checked out and they were so wonderful with her.  They left a great impression on me then.  But today is what really made me want to give them 6 stars if I could.  My doggo had an oozing eye for a few days.  She's in day dog training now so today was literally the only day I could get her in.  I called this morning, they said they were already overbooked by 2 people but would do their best to squeeze me in between appointments and said I should come in around 10:45.  We were seen right on time and frankly I was expecting a rushed examination since we were just squeezed in but she still got a COMPLETELY THOROUGH exam.  The vet techs and vets are all so incredible, sweet, compassionate, calm.  Can't say enough good things about them! My husband and I moved to the St.Louis area and I got a referral from a friend about Hillside. They gave me all of Dr. Ed's stats (same as all the other people in the reviews- maybe he has these posted in his office or something, because the ones in the review are the same ones that my friend gave me...) I took my dogs for their annual check up and had to wait a while before being taken to a room. This is when I was told that both dr.'s were at a conference and I'd be seeing a sub. The fill-in dr. was fine, very nice, was affectionate to my dogs (more so than the techs who were doing the job and getting out...) and we were in and out pretty quickly. When we got home, one of my dogs had a reaction to the shots. The only shot listed on my invoice was the distemper shot, but I saw the doctor give my dogs two shots each. When I called the clinic, I had to try and convince the receptionist that my dogs did get two shots and after finding out who the tech was, it turns out that yes, my dogs did receive two shots- I was only charged for one, but I also have no record that my dogs had received the other shot. I told the receptionist about the reaction and after waiting on hold for several minutes, she told me to bring my dog back in, but that they close at 4. (It was 3pm and I didn't feel safe bringing a puking dog to the vet alone.) My husband and I decided to monitor him over night and take our dog to the emergency clinic if he persisted to get sick. The next morning, my dog had huge pupils and would cry every time we tried to touch him. I called the vet again and told them what had been happening in the last 24 hours and they said that they could ""squeeze us in at 10 am"" ( two hours later from the time I called). I asked if I should take him to the emergency clinic and they said ""We can see him today, if you want to come now and wait, we can try to get him in sooner"". That answer was the one I needed in the beginning and since it was my second phone call- the one I expected. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Hillside Animal Hospital. I'm new to St Louis and have taken my dog to Hillside 2 times now. Both times, the staff was very friendly and I didn't have to wait for her to be seen by the doctor. I have a 4 year old pomeranian and she just got her vaccination shots. The next day she wasn't acting like her normal self. When I called Hillside they were about to close for the day - they made a special trip back that afternoon to see my dog (she had a fever) and gave her a shot and medicine to make her feel better. When I asked how I should pay, they said not to worry about it and they just wanted to ensure she was ok! I really appreciated the lengths they took to see her and then to do it free of charge showed how much they really do care! Read Less

Read Less

Hillside vets provide care to animals staying at Stray Rescue, a no-kill shelter in St. Louis, at no cost to the shelter. They have big hearts. They also saved my cat's life. She was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and had to stay at Hillside for five days. She now is fully rehabilitated and back to her old self. The staff is friendly, the location is central, the facility is clean, the vets are awesome. Read Less
