I foster for a rescue. I have an applicant that used this clinic. I called for a vet check this morning, just a few moments ago. Although I got the info that I need, the woman on the phone was rude and when I said "Thank you for the info, I appreciate, bye." She hung up on me. Your welcome or not a problem would of been nice. I have seen many times that the clinic is great, but the staff answering the phone isn't. That is defiant not the way to get customer/clients, through a first impression! Read Less

We have been taking our family dogs here for 3 generations and I was worried that when they built the new building that the level of care and bedside manner would decline. That is not the case at all. They never try to push extra medications or procedures on me like has been the experience for some at other local vet clinics. Nice and clean animal hospital not that far away from where we live. Front desk attendants are always professional and courteous. The real issue of this place is the quality of their vets, some are awesome, some aren't. It really depends on who you see on certain days. For instance, some vets are more patience than the others. It's not a big deal if your pets are super friendly and like human beings. For our dog who was a rescued- we have had several bad experience with vets who did not have whatsoever skills managing sensitive dog such as ours. I'm happy for those who have 5 stars experience with Millis so far, but we are definitely not one of them. If you are going on for regular checkups and shots, by all mean this isn't a bad place to be. But if your babe pets are sensitive and need special care, you may want to think twice.Read Less

The receptionists at this establishment are some of the rudest people I have ever come across! They ignored me for 10 minutes and helped someone else while I was waiting for them to help me. My card was declined because whichever girl was helping me was not paying attention to what she was doing. Since moving to the city I hadn't found the right vet. I'd taken my dog to a vet near us for shots but they didn't have the full service that I knew I wanted. When my aging dog wouldn't walk and wouldn't eat, I was terrified and wanted her to only have the best. I knew my neighbor recommended Millis but they were out in the county so I'd passed previously. The tiny bit of an extra drive is absolutely worth it. They have walk in hours, even on Saturday, and I didn't wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. Dr. Mueller listened to my concerns, did a very thorough exam, and worked to make sure my dog wasn't in pain any longer than necessary. Within 3 hours of leaving my dog was walking and wagging her tail and starting to eat soft food. I received updates on follow up tests promptly with calls from the doctor herself and within 3 days had a full diagnosis and treatment plan. I really appreciate that they didn't make my dog wait in pain those 3 days either.The waiting room here is a great size to handle all the dogs, there's plenty of parking around the sides and back, and the support desk staff made me feel so welcomed and important on my first visit when I was very scared something might be terribly wrong. Dr Albers has twice operated in our dog. Once to remove a mast cell tumor in her chest. The tumors have fingers and can be tricky. She has been cancer free for 2 years so he clearly artfully removed the fingers and all. Read Less

I just can't say enough good stuff about Millis.  I love that we don't need an appointment but can just stop in when we need care.  The vets are unfailingly kind and professional.  I've referred friends here who have raved that these vets found things others have missed.  Their prices are reasonable and in spite of not taking appointments, we've never had to wait longer than ten minutes.  Today I came in hoping to get my dog a leptospirosis vaccine before we left on vacation - a totally spur of the moment thing.  When they realized the vaccine they needed hadn't been shipped yet, they contacted the APA to borrow some so he'd have it for our trip.  They did that while I waited.  I'm so happy to have this place for our animal buddies! I have been coming here for years and have never left upset before. Yesterday changed that. We had seen an older lady vet. Just there for a nail trim and more heart guard/flea tick pills. The vet takes her back, the tech rings her back and says "the dr will be out shortly." Why does the dr need to come out for a nail trim? Then I saw it. I sat down with my dog and saw the drops of blood coming from her nail. After further inspection several nails were bleeding. They had cut to short to the under part of her nail. The noticeably bleeding nail was cracked in half all the way down.  When the dr did come out instead of just coming over to me she announced to the whole waiting room that it was basically my fault for not staying on top of trimming her nails and that I needed to come in more. Ok, so why couldn't you come over to me and tell me that instead of ANNoUNCING to the entire place? Why didn't you come out from behind the counter? Everyone else gets the decency of privacy so why couldn't I? I'm extremely upset over this as my dog is now limping around today. I don't know if I will be back or not. Read Less

I've been so happy with my experiences at Millis Animal Hospital! I recently moved to the STL area and promptly found a vet close to my new home for my pets. My husband and I decided to add another dog to our home. We decided to complete a foster-to-adopt process with a rescue dog. During our foster period, the rescue had us use Millis for our veterinary needs. I am so thankful they did! I've worked mostly with Dr. Tom Millis and he's been wonderful with my dog. He's kind and patient with my dog and takes the time to answer all of my questions. Their services are priced reasonably, especially for the quality care they provide. I also love that they are mostly walk-in based and you don't have to wait days for an appointment. I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes to be seen. From now on, we will only use Millis! Best clinic I've been to since I've had my dogs. I love the walk in appointments, and the wait is never long. The hours are fantastic as well. Being a walk in clinic you get a variety of vets but every time the service is impeccable. I would trust me dogs with any of them. I had a very bad experience at Millis that left my dog blind. The vets cared about us, but my dog's illness stumped them. The confusion led to unnecessary surgery for what was thought to be a stomach blockage, and my dog woke up from the surgery blind. He actually had meningitis and his inflamed meninges combined with the shock of surgery to his weakened system destroyed his optic nerve. All he needed was Prednisone, but he didn't get it in time. My dog is like a best friend to me and I kick myself all the time for signing his surgery waiver. This happened a year ago and I still wish I could go back in time and reverse it. I would suggest that if you need a diagnosis for your pet, get him straight to a specialist like Veterinary Specialty Services. Otherwise, if you know what your pet needs and want affordable and caring service, Millis is good. A side note...If your pet is battling a mystery ailment, have your vet check for meningitis. My dog saw four vets and only the specialist realized he had all the symptoms of meningitis, which can be very treatable if you don't waste time and catch it ASAP. Read Less
