I moved to St. Charles a few years ago and just couldn’t make it there, so I had to find another vet closer to where I live. No other vets have compared to her expertise, professionalism, and compassion. The good news is that I’m moving back to St. Louis this summer and will get to bring my cats back to Dr. Freesh! I boarded my diabetic cat here for the holiday. I brought syringes for him, and was surprised they gave me a pack when I picked him up. I was also surprised that the bill was less than I was quoted. Staff was a little flighty but friendly. For example, I was in the exam room waiting for the vet. A tech came in, surprised I was there, "Oh! I didn't know anyone was here." I then heard them exclaiming the same to other staff through the door after they left. Honestly, I was a little concerned. The vet was great: thorough and friendly with good advice. Read Less

I was heart broken when my kitty Oreo suddenly became very ill. St. Louis Cat Clinic has been taking the very best care of her since Monday morning. All of their staff have been wonderful. Staff are always friendly even when I call for the 3rd time in one day to check on my kitty. Today the receptionist went above and beyond and offered to send me a picture of her . The techs are all very kind as well. Dr. Freesh has shown great dedication to caring for Oreo and getting to the root of her health problem. It's not often I give reviews for doctors because I'm usually happy with the care I receive. If I'm dissatisfied, I always wonder if the doctor or staff just finished up with a difficult patient or some other circumstance. And once in a blue moon after I've left an office, I realize my very own piss-ant personal issues I left behind were an unwelcomed bad odor. Aaargh. After years of knowing Dr. Freesh, I truly must take the time to post a review! Have you ever been to a doctor whose touch instantly calmed you? How deep down, you KNEW you were in the right hands? Your cat would feel this very touch of tenderness coupled with competence here at Dr. Freesh's clinic. Cats are clairvoyant. They know when they are in good hands. And they certainly know when vets and staff SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE. It's HERE. Expense??! Many people are so used to paying co-pays from our human health insurance that we fail to realize the cost of good veterinary treatment! I once asked if vets had overhead beyond rent mortgage or staff salaries and was floored to realize the fees these clinics pay for OSHA compliance, hazwaste disposal, yearly educational training, and biomedical equipment maintenance. Omgoodness!! Finally (looong overdue)....thank you, Dr. Freesh, for examining three of my senior rescue kitties. April the calico; Kimber, the spotted manx; and Hunter who was a world class deck ornament. You didn't have to come all the way to my house when I was unable to bring all three to your clinic, but YOU DID....bcuz YOU CARED. For me. For my cats. Because there's no one like YOU. My deepest appreciation for the years you've been available to help me anytime I needed you! Twila Read Less

My wife and I recently had to have one of our beloved cats put down due to complications stemming from cancer. We had taken her to our regular vet first who wrongly diagnosed her with an infection. We went through treatment for the infection and when she didn't get better we took her to St Louis Cat Clinic. Dr Bellerichards immediately felt the cancerous tumor in her. We scheduled an ultrasound with the clinic and sadly the cancer had progressed too far for treatment. When she saw how bad the cancer was Dr Freesh cleared time in her day to help our baby girl stop suffering. The care that all the staff at the clinic showed my wife and I during a very difficult time will never be forgotten. While losing our girl was a terrible experience our experience with the cat clinic staff was as good as it could have been under the circumstances. We will always take our cats there now. Read Less

I cannot even begin to describe what an incredible experience I have had with Dr. Freesh and her staff at St. Louis cat clinic on Hampton. My 3 year old cat had been losing weight for over a year and was in obvious pain. I had taken my cat to 6 different vets and no one could diagnose him. I was always given an easy fix, with a large expense attached. I decided to go to the Saint Louis cat clinic on Hampton and within 10 minutes Dr. Freesh had diagnosed my cat. My cat had to have a pretty big surgery on his mouth. It has now been a month since Dr. Freesh completed the surgery, and it is the best decision I could have made for our cat, and I am so grateful I found this place. The entire staff is so very friendly and took so much time to explain everything to me, they have some extreme patience since I had an incredible amount of questions. Marsha even took the time to text me photos of my cat after his surgery and update me during the day. This clinic is truly reasonably priced and helps in anyway they can. They care about your cat, and your family. I will now only take my cats to this clinic. So grateful!Read Less

I remembered seeing StLCC all the time, having grown up in the neighborhood, so I brought her there. They gave me all the information I needed and fielded all of my questions about how to be a good cat person. Two years later I still love the place and they are currently (as of July 2016) helping four kittens I took from a bad situation. Not to mention I am now taking Miss Tonks (Gin's new sister) to them. I just had a really unfortunate experience with the St. Louis Cat Clinic, and specifically Dr. Freesh. Over two months ago, I had made an appointment for both of my cats to have their vaccinations updated and have dental cleanings. I had made this appointment in office after having a visit with one of my cats about their eye issue. When I found out one of my cats had cancer, I called to cancel that dental cleaning as I didn't want to put her through undue stress as we worked on her cancer with a specialist. When I did this, I spoke to Marcia, who told me "No problem. I'll take Gabby off the calendar and Leo can be bumped up from 10 a.m. to Gabby's 9 a.m. slot." So, we dropped Leo off at just after 8 a.m. this morning. And he would need to be put out for the dental cleaning and picked up that afternoon. I called at 11:30 a.m. today, and again spoke with Marcia, to see how Leo was doing. I was told the Dr. Freesh was in another surgery and I'd be called after that. So finally, at 3 p.m., Dr. Freesh phoned to tell me that due to another cat's surgery going long, they just didn't work on Leo today. Leowho had no food or water since 10 p.m.. last night, as instructed by the vet as he'd be under anesthesia today. Not to mention that we altered our schedules to accommodate his appointment today. But Dr. Freesh didn't do it, and didn't care that I was upset. All she really seemed to care about was quoting me for what the dental appointment would be the next time I scheduled it. I simply said "I don't think that quote will be necessary. Being that we made accommodations to have Leo's dental done today, and being that you chose to simply not see that commitment through, I'd prefer to find a second opinion from another vet." Dr. Freesh replied: "Fine. I'll have copies of his paperwork ready to go for you.Thanks." And hung up on me. Is that good care? Is that good customer service? Not for me. And not for my cats. Based on my experience, I'd steer clear of this place.Read Less

I have had two exceptional experiences with the care provided by the staff at the St. Louis Cat Clinic on Hampton. Upon checking in I had a relatively short wait before my cat and I were taken to the exam room. While my cat was receiving care I was pleasantly surprised by just how much the staff really love cats! They were as tender as could be with my little guy and spoke to him often as if to keep him informed about his health! Additionally, I have been thoroughly impressed by how clear and honest the explanations and recommendations have been from two of the vets on staff. They didn't try to scare me into teeth cleaning (I once had a vet at a completely different establishment tell me that my cat had severe gingivitis and he needed immediate cleaning, all of his teeth are still intact 5 years later) or assume that I wanted all of the treatment options. In fact, they communicated incremental costs to me during the exam quite clearly and made a case as to why they would recommend the additional care. In sum, if you have a feline friend, take them to the St. Louis Cat Clinic for some outstanding care! Read Less

We love the Cat Clinic!! The staff and veterinarians at the Cat Clinic really do care about cats, and it shows! Both my cats love the vets at the Clinic, and each vet we've interacted with has been kind, patient, and concerned about my cat's well-being. One of my cats is a little wary of strangers, but he has always gravitated towards the vets at the Cat Clinic, which I think speaks volumes about their demeanor towards their "patients." Everyone who works there seems to enjoy their job, which also speaks volumes. My cat Gazzo has feline leukemia, and the Clinic has been great about keeping him healthy and in tip-top shape! I don't think it hurts that he gets plenty of hugs, kisses, and treats when he goes in for his visits. I wouldn't take my cats anywhere else! I am so thankful for the care they've given my babies. Thanks to the reviews on Yelp I was able to choose the cat clinic as the best place to take my sweet little Angel. Angel was in need of some yearly vaccines and as any pet owner knows, it is hard to know who to trust with your loved one. I was reading reviews and with all the positive reviews for the Cat Clinic I made the call. I was able to schedule an appointment 1 week out and the girl on the phone was so friendly while taking my information and asked a ton of questions about Angel. When I brought Angel in for her appointment I was greeted immediately and asked to fill out a new patient form. I did this and was taken to the patient room all within a few minutes. They were quick. The Veterinarian came in and was very good with Angel. She took all of her vitals and checked her over to make sure she appeared healthy. I was impressed because she was being very careful with Angel in order to make sure Angel was comfortable. When they came back in to give her the shots I was impressed at how easy they made it look. Angel wasn't upset at all. I was satisfied with the service and they really did take good care of Angel. I'll continue to use them and I'll recommend you do the same. You won't be disappointed. So I'll start out by saying, I get emotional about my cats.  I've always struggled with vet visits with them because I feel like it is important to balance their pain and frustration of having to go to the vet with what is best with them.  The Cat Clinic is the first place I've been to (in 15 years of owning cats) where I felt like they are also concerned with that.  Example - my girl has to go in every 6 months for a checkup due to kidney failure.  One visit, she had another off result and they wanted her back in 3 months to recheck that number.  So, I brought her back in 3 months.  The re-check showed that she was back to where she was supposed to be and the vet was so pleased at how well she was doing otherwise that she told me to just skip the next 6 month visit (then 3 months away) and she'd see her again in 9 months.  That kind of thing means a lot to me - it saves my cat stress and it saves my pocketbook.  Most other vets I've been to would have just told me to keep the appointment because that was additional money for them but not these guys.  Of course, that means when they tell me something does need to be done, I know that it really is for the best interest of my cat and I'm more than willing to do it.I'm also impressed with how well they deal with my biter.  Both Dr Freesh and Dr Kinnunen take me seriously when I remind them that he gets too freaked out to control himself and they handle him firmly (but gently!) from the start.  They don't hold it against him either - they make sure that he gets a thorough exam in as calm of an environment as possible.  It reduces the stress of everybody, including the cat, when we don't have to deal with chasing him around the office while he attempts to bite everything within reach.  The new doctor didn't listen to me so well on that point but after the bite that she got, I'm sure she will in the future. Bottom line - I can trust them to do everything in the best interest of my cats.  For a nervous 'mother' like me, that is invaluable.  They are cat lovers and that is great too but they are true professionals first and that is why I'd recommend them. My Friend Erika W. recommended the SLCC to me a couple years ago and her review along with some of the others hold very true. This vet is fantastic with cats, the staff is SO friendly and they are super helpful. I have 2 cats and they are both naturally so freaked out by the car ride to the vet, let alone when they actually make it there. SLCC staff members and vets are able to calm the cats and really help them feel as comfortable as possible while seeing them. I am a huge fan of the atmosphere in the office and you can just tell that everyone at SLCC is a cat lover. There are cat posters, cute sayings and decor all over. SLCC has a couple resident cats that are always around the office and looking for attention, but they also do a brilliant job of helping cats that need adopted find good homes. One of my favorite things about this vet, aside from the care and comfort my cats receive, is that they are involved in the online space. I'm in the interactive industry so I really see huge value and importance in having an online presence. SLCC has an active Facebook page where they post pictures of cats that are available for adoption (even updates after cats have been adopted), cats looking for homes or just funny pictures/quotes that cat lovers will appreciate. They also regularly post information about cats, events and pet news. Like them on FB and start taking your cats to SLCC, you won't regret it!! Read Less

When it was time for the beautiful wife and I to be responsible and get our cat child Leo's nuts cut off, we knew going to SLCC was a must.Indeed, he received excellent care at both his initial exam and the day of his operation. The staff there is super friendly and while they might be slightly on the side of "these are professional crazy cat people" you're fine with that. For example, when we filled out the initial paperwork, there's a section for quality of care we wanted him to have (or something like that). The options were sort of phrased like:1) I would eat my cat if there was nothing in the fridge2) I would accept my cat's friend request on Facebook3) I would have shot Reagan to impress my catThat's slightly dramatic, but they do want to know both what sort of expense you're willing to put in and how much information you want.Despite being a cat-only practice (which, I'll note, had zero smell of cat  urine), the prices for his exam and neutering were perfectly reasonable. And they provide a lot of post-operative information, which helped ease our minds and souls. We'll be bringing our entire clowder here for the vet appointments. Read Less

I moved from Chicago and needed to find a new vet for my cat.  I've never taken her to a vet that focused specifically on cats.  I've always felt like she was the outcast in a sea of dogs at most vets.  Here, however, that was absolutely not the case.  The vets obviously like cats, and they really seem to know what they are talking about.  I didn't notice any smell of cat urine when I was there, and I wasn't asked to spend hundreds of dollars.  It was recommended that my cat have an EKG.  I thought this was a little strange at first.  I've never even heard of cats having one of those before.  I went for it anyway.  Even with the EKG my total bill was significantly lower than the bills I was paying up in Chicago.  I'll be back next year for me cat's next annual check-up. First thing that should have been a clue that this place isn't top notch was the heavy smell of cat urine. This was my first experience with a cat-only practice so I thought maybe that was to be expected. However, in retrospect, I don't think that's normal. To be honest, I was pretty disappointed with the quality of care my cat received here. We dropped close to $1K over the course of several months. have shoved dozens of pills down her throat and still don't know what's wrong with our cat.  Basically, the doctor just kept telling us that our cat must have some random infection that they couldn't actually find signs of...um, maybe the third f-ing time you couldn't confirm this was an infection, you could have started exploring other avenues.Dr. Freesh refused to even consider that my cat's diarrhea might be caused by a dietary issue, and I've actually had more luck controlling it on my own with food adjustment than she did with random medicines. I was really frustrated by my entire experience with this facility, and I would suggest you avoid visiting them for anything beyond routine check-ups.edit: After we switched to a competent vet and got got a proper diagnosis my cat has been thriving. We're able to manage her conditions (yep, more than one) through medication and diet.  You know how long it took the second vet to figure out what was wrong? One visit! He looked at my cat's file from the Cat Clinic, which included an EKG and blood-work. He pointed out that they had missed something telling in the EKG and confirmed his suspicions with another round of blood-work. By the time of our followup, it was crystal clear what was wrong with her. When you're looking for a vet, try to find one who *doesn't* have a retail operation. If they're selling food, there's a fair chance it's junk (as the majority of commercial pet food is) and thus they don't actually know much about nutrition and nutrition is a major source of health problems in pets. Even though I also have two dogs and a wonderful general veterinarian, I take our cat specifically to St. Louis Cat Clinic. The reviews by Rhonda S. and Saskia S. are 100% accurate. The doctors at SLCC are wonderful wonderful wonderful. I've had three of our cats as patients here and can't dream of taking them anywhere else. The staff is so friendly and help to calm down our Mickey once we arrive after his traumatic car ride. (NOT a fan of the car.) The care and individual attention is always topnotch. You will never feel as though your cat is "just another" chart and patient for them to deal with. Another great perk? There are resident-house cats that are always there roaming the lobby and halls. T-Rex has become our little friend and now any time I go to pick up food, my BF comes along just to get in his face time with Mr. T-Rex. Loves him! Read Less

Freesh & Kinnunen are very knowledgeable, compassionate veterinarians.  They saved my cat's life when he developed acute pancreatitis.  They explain everything they are doing and are very willing to listen to you and answer all your questions.   Dr. Freesh always writes notes about caring for your cat after a procedure or about the medications prescribed when you take your cat home, which is really helpful.  She also has a lot of handouts on common illnesses/conditions of cats.   The staff are very friendly and caring as well.  I would highly recommend them if you want the best care for your cats. I cannot even begin to describe what an incredible experience I have had with Dr. Freesh and her staff at St. Louis cat clinic on Hampton.

This place is fantastic! I have been going here for over 2 years. My kitty had a minor emergency and I needed to get him seen same day. I could have taken him here but would have missed my class, so I opted to take him to a certain animal hospital off of Delmar instead. HUGE mistake! I ended up taking him here after he was treated so poorly and misdiagnosed at the other place, and they are just AMAZING. They are so knowledgable and so kind to my beloved cat prince. They are experts in kitties with urinary issues and I highly recommend them to anyone!! Read Less

If you own a cat this is the place to come. Read Less

T-Rex. Loves him! Read Less

I am so pleased with the care my cats receive at St. Louis Cat Clinic.  Both Drs.
